This bus sounds good, I like how the driver keeps hissing the airbrakes! I think the Neoplans, in South Bend, Indiana sounded, we had 10 1984 models. In South Bend, we used to have Flxible Metros & they all had the Cummins L-10/Voith powertrain.
This coach righ here is sounds just like are oler Jamaican NYCT Port Athourity plus MaBSTOA GMC RTS II Series 04 model T8W-204 coaches, the 6V71 drive Detroit Diesel genuwine engine plus Allison V730 drive a well. plus is also sinilar in my ear the GM Fishbowls plus New Looks coaches we workened the 1960s70s years which was eary privates a well they coroded alot but they was faily relable. is sounds fantasic again too hears again!!!! Graci yous did a excellent job recoding AGIN!!!!A+9000000Star!
Wow...I've only ridden one 8v71N RTS from Green Lines back in 1992 from Woodhaven Blvd to Rockaway Blvd where Cross Bay Cinemas used to be. And I'm 23 years old. Many moons ago, lol.
im sorry to say..but i personally believe the the RTS "SLopebacks" were the WORST looking buses an RTS can look. I loove rTS buses, but the slope in the back just ruins the look..to me..it sounds great thought
@@josephheston9238 Yes always liked those Septa slope back RTS with the AC on top. I guess I got used to that look being from Philly because the straight back units in other cities look off to me.
I miss these buses. They were great. They were spacious, roomy, comfortable and I liked the sounds of the motor!:)
Wow, I like this bus already. Awesome sound!!!
@mmZo6, wrong! i seen a lot of RTS buses and this RTS has a Detroit Diesel 6V71 engine, it does not have a cummins diesel
This era rts is equipped with a detroit 6v71 with a Alison 730 r trans
I would love to get one of those mini RC Buses with all the engine sounds and have it sound like this..
Wow I like is bus already. Awesome sound!!!
i drove the 1980 40 ft. 8070 was smooth as ice and 8055 was like drivin in the ky derby!

Nice smooth sounding engine. Great Recording!

That brings back memories. All of the 400 series were a pain to work on.

@mmZo6
Sorry sir, but the engine is a 6V71TA Detroit Diesel.
Wow sounds so damn good!
Used to ride so many of them
First time I've heard a 6V71 coupled to a V730. SEPTA had theirs repowered with 6V92TAs.
MBTAs 1985 RTS has this exact combo which was rare all the way up until retirement in 2005-6. 8400 at the seashore museum still has this combo
NYCT's 1981 & 1983 RTSs had this exact combo
Damn dude....you still in the game1!!! Great to know..lol
That Cummins ISB is working hard!
Not a Cummins. It's a Detroit.
You would never be able to work a cummins like that the engine is a Detroit 6v71
Yes it has Detroit Diesel 6v71
This remind me of Detroit DDOT warren bus express back in the late 1980s and early 1990s unlike smart semta bus.
That is a 1989 not a 1979 that was a Manitowoc transit system bus use to be bus 1009
I wonder how many Orion I's you had driven, Eddie?
I know man. Its just an inside joke between me and ea90744!
Sounds like the early New Flyer D40's
uhhh

I disagree. I loved the slantbacks, and was happy that SEPTA decided to install roof-mounted A/Cs instead of converting them into squarebacks.

The slope complimented the aerodynamic look the bus had. The straight back ruined that look.
RTS is my favorite bus, but the slope will always be my favorite style
