- Today we'll check out a computer I built when I was 13 years old in 1997. Let's find out if the computer still turns on and if the ancient MFM HD still spins.

Man what a survivor! It's so cool too that this is your original machine, and what a gem of a machine it is. It's because of this thing's unique graphics card that I was able to "borrow" 640x400 support in several programs/OSes for my Compaq Portable III since the same screen mode seems to work on both.
Absolutely - I love the "creativity" of some manufacturers back in the 80s as they tried to experiment with higher resolution graphics for the era. Leading Edge, Olivetti, Hercules, and others had some interesting ideas.
Subscribed in hopes to see what's in store for the future! I'm digging these videos.
Thanks buddy - hopefully I can keep it interesting!
During my studies at the University in France I we had Olivetti M24s and also the French Logabax Persona 1600 which were 100% clones of the M24. We had to program them in Turbo Pascal 3.0. I had the luck to find in a German magazine (c't) a patch that allowed to use the 640x400 Olivetti mode. It enabled me to have much more appealing programs (privately I had an Atari ST with the PC emulator PC-Speed which supported the Olivetti 640x400 mode aswell. This allowed me to program calmly at home avoiding the overcrowded computer room of the University).
It's always much fun turning on the good old M24 (although yours is not the Olivetti M24 but the "rebranded" AT&T PC6300). I have serveral M24's and they all still work. A cool fact related to the graphics card in relation to 640 x 400 pixel ... If you have the Olivetti GO329 (Enhanced Graphic Colour) card together with the buildin graphics card - then you get 4 color in 640x400 - and yes this is back in 1983!
Keep the Olivetti Alive
Yea, it's a mix of parts of the Xerox and AT&T branded models I pulled this from, like I mentioned in the video. Mechanically identical to the true Italian M24, down to being Olivetti branded parts on the inside. I'm happy to have it
Also - nice to hear from the main Olivetti collector on youtube. Thanks for your comment
I'm just happy to see other youtuber showcasing Olivetti computer. I'm sadly not an owner of the AT&T model but I'll assume everything inside the AT&T version would all be Olivetti branded components
...👏👍🖖
