Hi Bumblefoot. Not sure if you remember me but my name is Bobby and I got to play bass for you on a one nighter in Houston a few years back. On my birthday you got everybody to sing Happy Birthday to me outside of a Sons of Apollo show too. actually at that show my meet and greet passes weren't working so you got them to let me in free and got a table with my name on it with free drinks and food! Want to say thank you for that. Just have to say you are amazing here! And you were very cool to me I appreciate you very much. Rock on brother.
I like how at 0:07 Bumblefoot was playing the bassline from Good Times (which later would be used in Rappers Delight) by Chic/Nile Rodgers. The Ebow solo at 16:53 is GLORIOUS. The blindfolded fretless shredding from 18:51 was absolutely AMAZING! Such a versatile and unique virtuoso...
I talked to Bumblefoot just a few minutes back on Instagram. And hes such a sweet and down to earth rockstar❤. I sent him a video of me playing a part of imagine by john lennon on my ukulele and he was in his studio and he sent me back a video of him playing the next part of imagine. I could never imagine any rockstar doing that for a fan ❤❤🤘🏻 He is an awesome person
He followed me on insta after i told him that he was awesome and i asked him why he would follow me, im just a nobody. He said "Theres no such thing as a nobody" and he thanked me for following him.
yeah bro.. even november rain mid solo i see him singing and talking during his guitar clinic at Malaysia.. i cant believe it first.. but there it is, our guitar Guru Ron 'bumblefoot' Thal..
Thanks Herman, I knew very little about Bumblefoot before this video. And now I totally fall in love with this guy after searching him on the internet. He is not only a talented guitarist but also has great personality. Oh, good voice too!
Bumblefoot is the Man. Gifted musician and awesome human being. Pretty cool to see two guitar players that I've jammed with on your show. I was in several bands with Rusty Cooley and got to do a one-nighter playing bass for Bumblefoot.
This wouldn't be working if these weren't known good guys. I mean all those 10 minute songs would have started actual gunfights in the rap world. In metal, the bands sing along.
Ron's comment about not putting your own touch to songs that people have loved for 30 years was spot on. It takes great humility and self discipline to be in front of 30,000 people and do your job without giving into the urge to show off. As a fellow Staten Islander I (and many of my fellow local musicians) have been following Ron's career for decades and he has never been anything other than a down to Earth, humble and friendly musician, never caught up in his own greatness. A true inspiration both musically and personally. Herman Li, thank you for this channel, you also are an inspiration and an example for all musicians at every level.
dude, he has got to be the most talented player I have yet to see of all your videos Ive watched so far. I could listen to his playing all dy long and not get sick of it, such beautiful and accurate playing, Im just speechless. Just wow.....
I met him when he visit and doing guitar clinics at Malaysia 9 or 10 ten years ago, and man, how enjoy, excite, and humble he is as a person and even as an artist.. i love him man.. great job Herman for interviewing Ron!
Ron was my guitar teacher for about a month sometime around 1997ish (I forget). I was played classical piano and when I told him that he threw down some Chopin for me on his guitar, laying it on his lap. I was amazed. I never took to guitar though and promptly quit. LOL.
I met Bumblefoot back when he was touring with Sons of Apollo, been a fan of his for around 15 years when i first heard Adventures of Bumblefoot i was in high school and i swear that album contributed to my hearing loss lol, Every song is incredible on that album, Q Fever being my favourite track, oh man that takes me back. And im not even lying when I say this, Ron is the nicest guy on the planet, like hes incredibly Zen, i was able to have a beer with him and talk guitar and fan boy, ill never forget it. Thanks Herman and Ron for doing this.
its humbling when you see someone as talented as Herman get THAT impressed by someone..ive watched it a few times, all my kids will hear it (my neighbours already have) and im ordering a thimble 🙂
Saw him with Talas (Billy Sheehan's old band) a few years back in Albany N.Y. he came out near the end of the show and played 5 or 6 songs with them. Played his double neck with the fretless neck and multi colored LED Lights so cool! But the best part was the jam st the end they played I don't need no doctor. They had a young lady Christian Capolino (she opened the show) come out for the end jam she is quite a accomplished guitar player it was awesome.
Really cool guy! had a chance to meet him in france but couldn't be there because of work. Even if I'm a bassist I really regret it. I'm sure I would have learned so much.
Bumblefoot and Guthrie Govan have a lot in common. With both of them, all they ever wanted was to play music - the fame thing is not important to them. They're both very clever fellows, both extremely modest and self effacing and genuinely nice people. They also never, ever rest on their laurels and constantly push themselves to improve and both have the most incredible aural skills - so they can play whatever they hear. Real musicians.
The first time i heard of Bumblefoot was when i found out he wrote the soundtrack for Wild Woody for the Sega Cd. Also, Normal is probably one of my favorite albums ever.
that man is amazing!! is a amazing singler and amazing musician, is the funny and. It's the strangest, funniest and most instructive video I've seen on this channel so far. We had never listened to Bumblefoot, now we want to hear all of his discography, thanks for bringing it herman , we really appreciate it !! You're the best. we love you!!
I had the honor and pleasure to meet Bumblefoot in December 2019 in Saigon. He's such an incredible nice and humble guy, and, without doubts, one of the best guitar players on this planet.
I had the good fortune of spending a couple days in the studio with Ron last year. I was not prepared for the level of guitar mastery I witnessed hehe.
I met Ron (and Patrice) in London and Ron really is just a joy, his "New Joy-sea" accent was totally intriguing to this Englishman, he asked if I wanted to try his Surfretter (this was pre doubleneck) but I'm lefty.... upside down, no frets and in front of Ron... I politely declined his kind offer. People should check out his solo on "Turn around" it's truly remarkable
I saw him first play at this place called wave Street in Staten Island in the early 90s. I have the demo on cassette in a box, I wish I remembered what the name of his band was with his brother back then but my friend also had a record from him back in the late '80s called AWOL my friend also had a cassette Ron made with his brother in the mid 80s and he had a song on there called through and through. Love this vocals back then And now of course
I once played that yellow Swiss cheese guitar. It was at a now defunct bar called the Blue Willow back in the early 90s and I spoke with Ron about it after the gig. I remember the strings being ridiculously slinky.
I was probably at that gig! I met Ron in the early nineties and used to catch him playing in cover bands. Caught him at the Blue Willow on Victory Blvd with his brother Jeff on drums.
Just another example of an amazing player but better yet an amazing person. Never give up on finding your own creative being. Thank you Herman for continuing to have awesome people on your streams. Proof once again you don't have to be an ass$#%@. Applause
Ron literally gave me a panic attack years ago watching him play. I know it's not a competition.. But for the most part, we are guys and it's evolved into us.. Ron.. Love you dude. One Love.
if i ever had to pick 2 players that i think are impossible not to like, these guys would be one of them. i got turned on to bumblefoot when his first record came out back in the day. i called him "master of the wren and stimpy chord". herman, i learned of through stevie t's channel. both are awesome players, and seem to be quality human beings. great video, this one.
Definitely up there with the best on planet earth... If not, thee best and such a humble guy, a singer from my home town Barnsley in the UK played in a touring band with him as lead Guitarist... Amazing human being 🎸👌🏻😊
0,5/10th would even make me happy. I have a sneaky suspicion that 1000s of hours practicing also have a lot to do with it, apart from an obvious excellent pitch. 😂
his level is insane.. wish i d have 20% of it well yeah he plays hours a day since more than20 years but still!! like all the guitar heroes we dream about
Thank you Herman! Love jamming with you! :D

Ron which song you record in Chinese democracy. I'm so confused about you and bucket head sound style

Ron is a guitar god! hands down.
the best.
What he does with his double neck is just insane!
Love that guy!
Bumblefoot is a guitar GOD. I saw this guy playing a complicated Dream Theater solo while running on stage and singing harmonies. Efortlessly.

Literally just watching Ron play made me inspired and so I have picked up my guitar to play!
Me too!
I love how Herman and Dragonforce have stepped up and become the good shepherds of the metal community.
thanks Jedi :D

Bumblefoot crushes all !!
An episode where I equally enjoy the conversation as much as I did the guitar playing. Insane. And Ron is a beast in every respect.
I keep rewinding the video at 16:53. that crying melody is so resonating..rock on you guys ✌🤘🤙 big fan from Alaska
I just picked up Adventures of Bumblefoot on vinyl a couple months ago.
What a guy! A pleasure being able to interview him. Truly down to earth, amazing player! :))
Fretless shredding, holy hell that was awesome!
I met him when he visit and doing guitar clinics at Malaysia 9 or 10 ten years ago, and man, how enjoy, excite, and humble he is as a person and even as an artist.. i love him man.. great job Herman for interviewing Ron!
Bumblefoot is so underrated. Guthrie Govan called him a wizard with magical powers.
Damn if someone like Guthrie calls you a wizard then you're indeed a goddamn wizard
Amazing!
Bumblefoot puts on an awesome show. If you ever have a chance to see him live, especially solo, go see him!!
He makes the most difficult seem effortless. Total command!!
Herman was able to raise USD 1123.95 during this session for Jason. That's just so cool.
A modern day guitar god! and so an articulated and super chill person. He makes interviews so enjoyable. Very intelligent man

Wow i gotta try that Kazu trick next time what a great way to imagine notes and hear them so you can play them
Herman needs to get Tony MacAlpine on his show. Another guitar wizard and a great guy. Some of his peers even claim hes better at playing the keys.
TMAC rules!
@@dragonforce hell yeah
Saw T Mac a number of years ago. He did an unaccompanied solo spot on the keys. It was a Classical shred fest -highlight of the night.
I would suggest Scott mishoe or Derryl gabel.
It's insane how underrated Ron actually is.
He’s Guthries fav so that rly says something
This was an unexpected surprise!
This guy is so freaking cool.
Thanks for this!!
Yes, ToneZone! It's so expressive like a voice.
Herman's face when Bumblefoot was nailing those solos.. in-key was priceless. I thought he was gonna pop hahaha

8:15 that technique is insane, I didn’t know that it was posible to reach a higher note with that little thing, it’s awesome.
