@@Mediagisttvv you already know the duties of a Virtual Assistant, create something in that line. For instance, a Virtual Assistant manages Email, create an imaginary email and manage it. Assume your client who lives in Texas says you should schedule a 3 day meeting for him with his friend in New York in a good hotel not more than $1000 per night. Schedule this appointment as would do for a real client. Take a screenshot of all these and attach them to your portfolio. I hope I'm able to help a bit.

Create graphics for your church and for your friends running a business for free (depends on the type of graphics you do). If it's quality content, they'll post it + people like free things. Make sure they have an account you can add to your portfolio. That's it

You know in content writing, there is this aspect of #Define your target audience# #Know their pain points# #needs# and #interest#. Going to upwork or fiver or any other platform like you've mentioned here and writing out their job description has solved the problem right? For example, I went to upwork platform and I searched for companies in the US because that is my target audience, then I searched for content writing+hiring in the US on upwork, then it brought out hundreds of companies and people that needs contents writers and the type of contents they want these people to help them write. It is what they now listed, i.e their needs that I used to build my portfolio on medium. In summary, what am trying to ask and verify is that this method of going to upwork or fiver or anywhere to copy out these people or companies needs for their jobs, has it covered that major aspect of Defining your target audience: in what they want, needs and pain points.
Look for a small business around you and offer to assist then for free. If you can work with 2 business at a time, do so. People don't usually say no to free things. Those are your phantom clients. Record the process and you have a portfolio

Do everything you'll do as a virtual assistant and record the process. That's it. If you work for 3 people in the space of 2 months (if that's not too much time for you) you're good to go.
