- I bought a knife from Temu that looks just like a Benchmade Taggedout. Let’s see what it’s all about.

I have the HUAAO brand version of the Taggedout 15535 in Green G10. So far it has been great for a $25 knife with a D2 blade. I have put an edge on it with my wicked edge sharpener. The steel acted like D2 to sharpen with the diamonds and took a hair whittling edge. It serves my purposes as a real world EDC blade. It opens the mail, cuts meat, fruit and rope. I'm retired and could never justify spending $300 on a pocket knife for my simple daily needs. These budget knives serve a useful purpose and I for one am glad they are and option.
I’ve picked up a couple of those Huaao knives too & have to say that they’ve been pretty good. My impression is that they’re the Chinese version of Ganzo Knives. They take successful designs & remake them under their own brand, sometimes with slight modifications. And my take is that their steel has been pretty good for me too. Good call! 👍
@@BladesOnABudget I don't think that Huaao makes the knives they sell but I could be wrong. I do think they carefully choose what knives they do sell based on a quality standard they hold and engrave their logo on the knife blades, IMHO.
@@wayneanderson991 yeah, that would make sense too. Good point. 👍
that standpoint has been my hill I have been defending for years .......... for someone working on a budget that would have to save up to buy a 2-300 dollar knife a clone/counterfeit can give you the info you need to make a large financial decision like that.
Tbh I have now bought 2 real Spyderco's because I bought a knock off and loved it so much.
Really enjoy these videos
Thank you!
I thought otherwise at first, but my recent cutting tests show that my $15 fake benchmade bugout is better than the Walmart $10 Wugout. Is it as good as the real bugout? I will never know, unless they send me a free one, because I ain't paying what they charge for it.
My wife orders and she picked me up a few I use them to hone my sharpening skills. That 15535 you showed is D2 I can tell when I sharpened it and I was surprised that they didn't lie about it.
Good to know! Thanks!
I don't know what to say, as a new collector, I will never be able to afford a 300 dollar knife. Pr a 100 for that matter. I have bought a few knives from temu, but all around 10 bucks, and all except for one was trash. To spend 30 bucks for one knife on temu would scare me a little. Do to their unreliable products. I would probably get one that was broken or just junk. Thanks for the review. I'm a new sub and I like your presentations style. Have a great weekend.
Unfortunately, the $10-$15 knives are typically trash. You will have to spend at least $20-$30 to get anything decent. Even then, there’s still a lot of trash. That’s why I’m trying to show some decent knockoffs here that are cheap but still fun to use. Try using ok-knives.net for better quality but cheap knockoffs.
Ull get there. Promise. 300 seems like alot rn but to be fair bm r pricey. For 100-150$ u can get a great lifelong knife. Till then plenty of good Chinese options in the $25-$65 range
It's funny how the packaging for some of these Temu clones can be so bad sometimes, while others (like the "bugout" I bought on there about 6 months ago for $13) are only distinguishable from the real thing by a slightly different shade of blue on the box.
Yeah, the replica knives have become very close to the real thing lately.
That carbon fiber looks good
Looks too nice to be a Benchmade 😉
Yep
I got the BO clone and CF Taggedout (TO) to see if I liked the size before buying the real thing. Although the CF TO clone feels good: 1. orange paint dissolves easily 2. blade is thicker/heavier than BM 3. orange paint needs to be removed from the bearing area (yes, the clone has ball bearings) and from the area which engages the dumbell lock for smooth operation 4. I needed to sand down one of the liners for them to fit flush in the scales 5. blade doesn't hold an edge long 6. after the paint dissolved off from some tree sap and later an alcohol wipe I started to notice light rusting (treated it with oil and a steel wool pad later). Additionally, because the blade and spacer is wider, I dont think you can swap out the scales with the BM version... I really like the clone CF scales.
In ended up getting the BM TO and am waiting on custom CF scales, and instead of the BM BO got the CF-Elite Mini Presidio II and am very happy with it for the extra 1.5 oz.
Nice! Thanks for the info! Would love to hear how those custom scales work out for you. 👍
I'll probably try their Slysz Bowie since you can't buy the real deal anymore. But I'd warn anyone collecting these that after several cheap fakes you could have probably bought a real brand instead of a pile of clones.
This is definitely true! I could have had several top tier knives at this point. But I'm ok with it. Just having a little fun exploring all the options out there. You'll love the Bowie. 👍
@@BladesOnABudget No hate at all, it's just a slippery slope to go down. Like this whole hobby in general.
Im just starting to wonder if parts of some major brands are coming from china ?
I'm pretty sure that most manufacturers use simple parts like screws and clips from China. They just assemble them in the US. There are a few US brands that only use 100% US parts, but those are pretty rare.
Check out e bay knives and sellers please. Loving the content..!!
thank you 👍
My attitude has always been Yes i can spend $300 on a knife, but I never would. It could be the best knife in the world and its still not worth more then $50 or $75 to me. When I see these super expensive knives I always have to ask myself who is buying this crap? I suppose somebody with too much money and not enough common sense.
It's disturbing that there is so much support for counterfit chinese knives. This isn't a knockoff, it's a COUNTERFIT! It's stolen Branding, stolen IP, and designed to mislead. Do I own some cheap knives? Yes, but I will never intentionally purchase a counterfit product that someone else might think is legit and stake their life on.
Fake as hell! 👎👎👎
Yep.
I love these clone videos! Thank you for what you do! 🫡👏👏👏
Thanks! There's obviously a lot of haters out there. Nice to know someone else enjoys it. 👍
