I was lucky enough to have Thanksgiving dinner at Windows on The World back in 1999. I'll never forget the feeling of the tower slightly sway in the strong winds and watch the buzzing city below.
On of my dearest friends was one of the chefs at Windows at the time of 9/11. He survived solely because he was running late, typically he’d be there by 5-6 am commuting from Westchester.
I'll never understand the people who seem to think that you have to ironically like it or its not a real genre. They just like to feel cool about themselves and act elitist. Music snobs piss me off just like art snobs. If you enjoy it, thats all that matters!
I miss the early 90s corporate office vibes. I would tag along with my dad to visit mom at her office; the carpet, the office decor, the pink and sea green aesthetic at the cafeteria downstairs, the fake and real plants, the ladies wearing 90s blouses and suits and heels, the make-up, the hair...What a time. 😆
My mom used to have me in her office after school. I would play MS Paint or Pinball, walk around the office in search for the break room and snag some hot chocolate! Good times.
Honestly, the "executive" aesthetic was peak in the 90s. You saw it practically everywhere, the suits, early laptop personal computers, the architecture of major business conglomerates, luxury cars marketed specifically to the "executive" consumer-base. It was definitely a different time for sure.
i remember a time where i went to my mom’s job in DC, with my cousin since both our moms work there. we had takeout chinese food and i sat in front of the computer watching videos and playing games. i also remember being on the train to get to DC
Even as someone who wasn't around before 9/11, I’m glad even little things like this album remind us that there was more to this place than that one infamous day. People worked and lived here, found friends, fell in love even. All that and infinite more across the decades of its existences. And it is those memories that can never destroyed
i wonder why the WTC is so popular in vaporwave stuff, my only guess is cuz its an office and it was popular in the 90's, therefore including lots of the old 80-90's era computers, untill it didn't.
I just feel appreciative of people like yourself, who make compilations and mixes such as this. I never get tired of seeing them in my recommendations. This genre's a massive inspiration and comfort to me
@giyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yeah just the skyscrapers...right....not the thousands dead and injured or the rampant fear mongering since, which is quite literally what the goal of the attack was. But yeah no. It's just about the buildings. Sure.
@giyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I think that highly depends on the person. Besides that doesn't change that fact that the event changed air travel security completely, and not just in the US.
News at 11 has got to be one of the best vaporwave albums of all time man. Like if there was a vaporwave hall of fame i would put Catsystem corp in it immediately! Them and luxury Elite
you have made it to the genre of *Vaporwave* welcome 😉 Sleep, eat, take a late night drive to clear your mind, just know it’s gotchya wherever and whenever you need it
Very Haunting as if a bygone era is speaking to us through music and comes creeping upon through memory not so long ago, a very different world back then compared to today thats forsure, pre 911 feels so strange today compared to post 911.
I was born only just before the towers fell. Didnt even know what had happened until 3rd grade, 2009, when it was talked on in the 8th anniversary. Feels weird, knowing it had happened and feeling the secondary hurt knowing what happened to my countrymen and the subsequent decades of war and terrorism that would follow. But as ever, it always feels like it had happened to somebody else. Kind of ashamed I can't bear the same weight as my folks.
No. Please don't ever feel ashamed of that. Count yourself lucky that you don't feel the same pain. You were born when you were born and you should never feel ashamed of something you can't control. Please, I don't want to sound preachy but...I hope that you feel a bit better from my words. Keep your chin up and remember that even though it feels like you should bear the same weight, there are countless children born every day who are farther and farther removed from that weight...and in the end I think thats a good thing. We should never forget the event or the pain it caused, but its a sign that slowly....we are healing. Never give up the hope for a better future, the future the 90's held. That's ultimately what the terrorists wanted...and I for one refuse to let them succeed in taking that away form us. Anyway, I hope that you can find comfort in these thoughts.
@@chumon1992 You're right I think. Thanks :) And yeah, Osama's in the dirt now. They hurt us bad, but we rung the bell. No reason to let him keep us down.
@DrakeBlackleyTheSmartass indeed. We have rebuilt, the memory remains, and hopefully we will never have to experience something of that magnitude again. Im so glad you are feeling better. :)
@20gdetitane I had turned 8 that April. Yeah it definitely reached farther than just here. Nothing of that magnitude had ever happened before to my knowledge, nor has it really happened since(thankfully).
