Thanks for posting this video. I just installed my center stand on my 2014 NC700X. Having this video made it incredibly easy. I did make one small goof in that I didn't notice the smaller inner spring wasn't on the spring bolt before ratcheting so I wound up only connecting the larger outer spring. Not a big deal, I corrected it by removing the spring, repositioning both to make sure they were on the spring bolt and then ratcheted again and got both on. Thanks again for taking the time to put this video up!
Rather than using RATCHET STRAP/CORDS/ROPES/ETC.....use automotive BRAKE SPRING pliers, did on mine and it was quick and easy from left side of bike. Hook front springs first then use pliers on rear ones. EASY PEASY.
Ed, I am so glad you posted this video. I just received my center stand a few days ago and was kind of dreading the install, after having read about the difficulty of installation on the NC700 forums. However, after watching your video, I went into the garage and 15 minutes later, walked back into the house with the stand installed. Very easy installation. Like you suggested, I didn't unbolt anything on the muffler. (Not sure why Honda has people do that) I didn't have 80 lb test line, so I used a couple feet of rolled up nylon pull line I had laying around in the same fashion. I used some blue lock tight on the screw threads like you suggested. Nice job on the video! I owe you a beer!
great video, thanks. Don't forget to grease the shaft, especially if you ride a lot in wet weather or just like things quiet. The shop called today, center stand is in. I've had my nancy x for less than a month debating to get one or not and concluded it really should be included, just like my 86 nighthawk s. But they have to make ends meet and pay for bloated suvs, jet plane and robot development, manufacture on multiple continents. More and more sold on DCT with each ride.
thanks Ed!!!! Just finished on my 2014....that made things pretty easy!!!i had to use 100 lb mono line but thats what i had laying around....i made a triple loop of the stuff
Great video. I just ordered that same stand for my Honda CTX700 (I'm told it will fit). So, I'll be employing that method to install it once it arrives - Thanks!
Hey ed, thanks for the vid but on my CTX faired DCT there is not even enough clearance between the exhaust pipe and the threaded hole for me to fit my fingers in-between in it.. If my fingers don't go in I have no way to actually hold the bolt in place so it can be turned in..
Your method worked perfectly on my Africa Twin! Thank you!
I just watched a bunch of videos trying to figure best way on my BMW motorcycle center stand. Your was the most helpful! Thank You

Ed , your come-along solution is brilliantly simple and it works like a charm. 10 minutes to install start to finish! Thanks for the tip.

That is friggin awesome! You make this look easy! Thanks!
Stroke of genius good sir!
I found it easier to use an exhaust spring puller doing one spring at a time... no fuss done and dusted... great video all the same...
Worked like a charm! Thanks!
For central stand strings install,I recommend you to use spring puller.
