Valery Saparov - 24 Jazz Preludes No. 15-24

- The preface to this set by the composer:
The cycle of 24 preludes I am calling your attention to was
conceived long ago and is mainly intended to be used in
educational practice for the students of colleges, lyceums and
conservatories. I didn't aim at the creation of the musical
anthology of the history of jazz. First of all, I wanted young
musicians to get acquainted with different directions of pop and
jazz music regardless of their tastes and likes. Also I wished
the music of preludes to be popular both among performers and
listeners.
In the preludes one can recognize intonations of both
traditional classical jazz (blues, swing, boogie-woogie, ragtime)
and modern jazz styles (cool, bebop), as well as the intonations
of jazz-rock, bossa nova and other instrumental pop music.
Preludes No.22 was written under the impression of music of the
great jazz musician Bill Evans and is devoted to his memory.
These compositions are not to be perceived as the examples
of essential jazz music; moreover, such an objective cannot be
set when writing a cycle of piano miniatures.
I hope these 24 preludes will help young musicians learning
to play piano to discover musical material useful for their
further development due to which they would probably like to
join to the diverse jazz community [poss. typos are my fault-gamma].
I played all pieces. Struggled with the digital piano, and hope that at some point I can record this on a real grand.
Score seems to contain errors - sometimes the language is so free (bebop etc.) that almost everything goes though. You will see. Also, here and there I took the freedom and changed the notes a little bit. I tried to stick very closely to the written tempi. Some piece of the set I really like a lot and will probably also play in future occasions.

спасибо вам большое!
These preludes at times sound so similar to my own improv style that I can't help imagining the piano in front of me when I listen
Мне понравилось Ваше исполнение! Спасибо!)
#24 super
That‘s awsome! Thank you very much! Jazz and Classical Music combined sounds so nice imo (espacially classical structures with Jazz harmony)
Absolutely. That's why I explicitly search for that stuff and present it here for you :)

You propably already searched on IMSLP but Billy Mayerl wrote some charming stuff :D Unfortunately Classical Jazz music is kind of hard to find due to copyright restrictions or the fact that most 'modern' Classical Music is atonal (which doesn't always sound pleasant imo)
Btw I uploaded 5 Piano Pieces by Eric Plessow on pianophilia - they are definitely worth a look :)
I loved these. Each one.
Your choice of VST on this one is excellent. Piano fits the mood perfectly.
thank you!
Wow, these are really nice! Thanks for the upload!

nicey
Wonderful performance. Which website did you use to find the sheet music? Thanks.
