seems quick and handling turns out good on these . They look pretty cool too. You want shoot some paint on it now you half decent at painting :-) Have fun at the track, hopefully sump works good, suck kill another one as they not easily sourced these days .
Need to be very careful removing harmonic balancers, especially on 4 pots. Pintos for example have a nasty habit of throwing their flywheels off without a harmonic balancer.
Excellent progress on getting 2 running at the same time. I was speculating that you were disturbed about something on the drive and alas it was the noisy throw out bearing. Well bugger ....... still good progress and a good vid 👌
about the balancer removal, I thought these were added to improve engine reliability against harmonic vibrations (torsional) : have you considered that (e.g. other strategy for moving the harmonics rather than attenuating them)? I actually looking into adding a balancer to rev a older Ford higher than originally intended...
Large displacement four cylinder engines have lots of vibration at higher revs. Mitsubishi invented them to get a smother running engine for their 2.0/2.4/2.6 Liter engines. It's a NVH thing for street cars. Race engines don't care about that so delete.
It goes about as well as I thought it would, maybe a bit better, and I noticed the opening front quarter windows... How rare!!! Can't wait to see how well they both go on the track days, hopefully no sump related issues this time eh ;)
Loved this Saab series.. looks and sounds fantastic the great attention to detail and work you put into your projects is exceptional and you always have excellent results ..I'd love driving that as a daily be a dream ..great channel, great work best wishes
Nice job. I've a b204 in my mondeo eurocar tube chassis drift car. I'm wishing I did the balance shaft delete but fingers crossed and touch wood, my sump has survived 5 drift days on the limiter no problem. I made a box surrounding the pickup with one way (in only) hinged flaps. Love the eccy. Way cooler than a cosworth powered show pony one.
Dirty old ' Thrust Bearing " damm , big job for a small bearing ! best brother ,, ps. It sounds like a good Australian BARA TURBO 6 cylinder 240kw standard ,, 800kw without internal damage , like this SARB engine . ps. I own a 310kw , 500nm Ford BARA and love your work Brother .
My favourite build of yours, truly awesome with great fab work including the plenum that was beautifully done. But removing the crank damper? You have no cause for concern sir in regards to drivetrain harmonics?
May be worth mounting a conspicuous oil light onto the A post so if the engine does suffer oil starvation on a track day the warning light will at least be in your field of view. as for the clutch bearing i've found you can learn to mentally tune out less serious faults that are both distracting and annoying by owning an AUDI as a daily driver.
Agreed, but usually by the time the light comes on the damage is done. Problem with most of these b 204/234’s blowing up is not many people rebuild them before use, they just clean the sump and wind the boost up 🤣 💥
When do you think if at all your have a fitting kit made up ready for sale as I think it be something I like to do ! And if you do what sort of money do you think it will be ? Thanks and keep up the good work
Really into the saab conversion stuff Also are you going to start making RWD conversion kits for the b204? Made to order kind of thing? As they are becoming more popular... Good video as always matt!!
Bit of both from my experience, 2.3’s are definitely getting harder to find, and the 2.0 being over square in its bore and stroke makes them revvier, although the 2.3 is not a long stroke as people often think, the 2.3 is a square engine being 90mm bore x 90mm stroke. The 2.0 is 78mm stroke. They rev great.
That was a very bad serious face, your face just wanted to grin from ear to ear. I love the trying to look responsible face. We need more of you going for a wee spin. Keep up the good videos.
Did you change the oilcooler ? When the engine failed its very likely there are still fragments in the cooler that can cause trouble when you take it to the track again. And it doesn't help cleaning it, needs to be replaced. Best regards Mats
Please take us through the Saab stuff! Just as interesting as the Mongrel to my eyes ;)
Will do.
Loved the cheeky grins when giving it the beenz, particularly the turbo chirps.
The luxury of two ready track cars! Have fun on the track.
Please take the opportunity to watch the adverts and help the channel 😎❤️❤️❤️
Looks and sounds ace mate, well done 👍
Looking forward to having a blast together on track
Well done Matt. Been some hard yards however it's great to see them both up and running again ☺️ Looking forward to seeing the track day footage.
Interesting conversion saap has always had my respect I ran a 95 aero 250 hot , that was very very nice ,
Opening quarter lights, nice 👍🏾
Good to see it driving. It seems very quick!
P H A S T !!
Who needs a speedo when you get cheek wobble like that? Cheek wobble tells it all. Awesome!
I see you trying to hide that happy face.
Those are great engines! It's built very close to where I live. 👌
Certainly sounds good Matt👌
Cheers
Did I see a little smile when your thrashing that thing through the fears..🤔😎
‘You’re....’
Even..🙄
And...
Gears....😳
Wow lad great video again I still remember ur cattle shed vids keep the good work up

Man that sound is great!
That video is a whole box full of understatement. Great work. Love the Saab conversion.

Good stuff Urch love the sound of the wastegates
Add an extra oil pressure switch that switches on\off at 30psi with an extra massive oil light. That way, you can monitor oil starvation on track.
Sounds lovely, well done 😎
Cheers
i am nearly sure i saw at least 3 held in smirks of hoonery occasions in this video
Just need a c20let in the Chevette now
Good intelligent practical mods for the Saab engine in this configuration thanks for sharing.

A point to consider, would hate to see somethings flying off at the track...
8-0

Looks like a fun ride. Thanks Matt.
That looks like a hell of a lot of fun to drive!
P H A S T !!
Wish I those kind of private roads to test drive on. The only one near me is full of potholes.
It goes about as well as I thought it would, maybe a bit better, and I noticed the opening front quarter windows... How rare!!! Can't wait to see how well they both go on the track days, hopefully no sump related issues this time eh ;)
I’m sure i detected a little smile when booting the escort lol 😂
I like the way the seatbelt behind you goes loose when you accelerate. 😎

THAT sounds and revs wicked !!!!! TOP
Appears you have a traction issue thats not a problem👍👍👍 !!
Fun little get around town grocery getter track day car
Wicked little car Matt. Bet that’s great fun!
That looks entertaining to drive...
My favourite build of yours, truly awesome with great fab work including the plenum that was beautifully done. But removing the crank damper? You have no cause for concern sir in regards to drivetrain harmonics?
Which track did you book your trackdays at?

@@iancooper5615 Agreed, but if you switch the engine off before the knocking starts it can usually be rebuilt instead of scrapped
@@totalutternutter true but you have to be fast and on track there’s usually lots going on 🤣🤣
Great car . Drove it more often 💪
how did you do with speed signal input? have a bit problem to get it from baseboost
Previous owner using semi-synthetic oil killed my 9-5 Aero. Saab Turbo cars get way too hot for anything but fully synth.
sweet but id saab the chevette and viser veaser
Did all mk2 escorts have opening quarter lights
What engine management you running this on?
When do you think if at all your have a fitting kit made up ready for sale as I think it be something I like to do ! And if you do what sort of money do you think it will be ? Thanks and keep up the good work
Does it have a manual steering or is it assisted?
Thanks Matt
Cool ... Did you have 2 dump fails one on each car? Nevertheless enjoy your track days thanks for the share.
Saab power, nice work sounds sweet to 😆
What turbo and injectors are you running?👍
Really into the saab conversion stuff

Could see you smiling under your moustache while you were driving that!
you build the best toys on youtube. you should collab with marcus hayes at some point too
Nice one Matt👍🏻
Squeaky clutch pedal?
Is there a reason why you use the 2.0T Saab lump rather than the 2.3? Does it rev easier or are they just cheaper to buy?
Bit of both from my experience, 2.3’s are definitely getting harder to find, and the 2.0 being over square in its bore and stroke makes them revvier, although the 2.3 is not a long stroke as people often think, the 2.3 is a square engine being 90mm bore x 90mm stroke. @@iancooper5615 My 9-5 2.3t with a Stage 1 remap is no slouch, although I'm tempted to upgrade to a TD-04 turbo.
Awesome be good to see them on the tracks 😀👍🏻
Obviously that was all done under the national speed limit.
Great stuff 👍👊
That was a very bad serious face, your face just wanted to grin from ear to ear. I love the trying to look responsible face. We need more of you going for a wee spin. Keep up the good videos.
rebuild it!! fast road car!
Did you change the oilcooler ?

very nice
Nice.
Plz 2 door 5his to spec by metal fab, no off the shelf rear quarters or doors
Not concerned with harmonics at all??
It looks phast !!
Nice
👍
Sweeeeeeet! LAG
BAH a video of seeing your face frowning.
