You know what I like the most about you Joel?
Unlike many reaction channels on here, as soon as you could you got out there and created content.
Rather than sit in the USA pretending to understand they know what's going on.
For the last 3 summers you've lived it and that's a massive difference.

That’s one thing that started to bug me about many British reaction channels. It’s like they don’t really have an interest, just realised people were getting lots of views so jumped on board. Joel probably seen that too, but at least he actually shows a genuine interest!

For a moment I was horrified that, at Scarborough, you weren't going to take your shoes and socks off and go for a 'paddle' and get some sand between your toes, but oh my, thankfully, thankfully in the end you did *smiles* Honestly on a good summer's day the UK has so much to offer. I hope you realised too that the lettering in seaside rock goes all the way through - at no matter what point you break it, the lettering will read exactly the same.

Scarborough, is what the song 'Scarborough Fair' was written about. This was a huge trading fair that was held for over 500 years and attracted people from all over Europe. The song was made world famous by the American duo Simon and Garfunkle in the 1960s after they made a recording of it.

Scarborough is quite the experience! I went there for the first time in the summer of 1995, from Norway with a boy brigade I was a member of (they're only a thing in our city Bergen and we sometimes travel to international cities together such as Berlin and Paris) and I have so many good memories from that summer in Scarborough! Seeing the beach promenade and all the arcades makes all those memories come back for sure! The second time I visited Scarborough was back in 2010 during a university school trip to York and we spent a day travelling to Scarborough and the memories from 1995 came back and all the fun stuff we did in that city. I'd love to visit again sometime in the future and it looks like you enjoyed yourself too! :)

You have just relived my childhood. Family friend "Aunty Elise" lived in Scarborough, and every other year we would go for a week's holiday. The beach and waters weren't clean then, a sewer pipe ran into it, and you would end up swimming with all sorts! The Sea Life centre used to have a giant, ugly fish in the corner of the room, and we would visit him every time. The small gauge railway and the shop at the station. The vincular railway down to the shore. All you needed to do was fall in Scarborough Mere, like I did. From Yorkshire

Great video man, been following your England Journey. at 5:17 you speak about it being a Wednesday at 2pm and so busy on the beach. I hate to say it mate but welcome to a culture that has much better work/life balance with paid holidays etc.

My wife’s family are from Scarborough. Happy childhood memories. A great place for a day trip to a traditional seaside town. So pleased you visited

You can see Rock being made on YT. The traditional mint with the pink coating is the best. IMO. Happy travels.

You were incredibly lucky with the weather. Its been awful. The best way to eat rock is by leaving it on a bookshelf for six months first. It goes nice and soft.

I grew up in Scarborough. You should have been to the Castle. But great you went there. The Sea Life Centre rescues seals etc. When you eat outdoors you are encouraging the gulls to steal food. In the past we only ever ate food in the cafes etc.

Great to see you back in Yorkshire, Joel: you are an honorary Yorkshireman because you understand us! My mum’s father was from Scarborough and always reminded us that it was the first English seaside resort, created in the 18th Century as a Spa. Also, that the first German shells to land on English soil in 1914 hit Scarborough and other North Eastern ports before anyone realised what was happening; the German cruisers hit the Grand Hotel, the Castle and other landmarks. It caused such anger among the British people that the government produced thousands of recruitment posters to encourage men to join the army and ‘Avenge Scarborough!’
It looks like your day was calmer!😅

I googled it to check and it says people began to visit Scarborough in numbers for the Spa waters around 1660 which was well before Brighton developed as a resort in the next century, so there we are.

Spent a lot of time in Scarborough as a kid living in York. Used to be a huge theme park on the north bay with one of the tallest water slides but sadly no more for many years.

Joel, you need to see how a stick of rock is made. There are places around the country where this is possible, Blackpool for one. Or you can see the process on a youtube video. Great to see you enjoying the sunshine. Have fun & Keep Reacting!

One of Scarborough's oddest claims to fame is that the train station has the world's longest railway bench. At 139 metres in length, it is also a Grade II listed structure. Well worth a visit!😊

Do enjoy theses Y01 vids you do, they show you an older outlook on British life which is very interesting to me. I last went to Scarborough in the 70s and loved it the miniature boats having battles on a lake i remember well. Also rock is gorgeous it can come in a chewy version to and those flavours are amazing but its been a while since ive had some.

You should have asked Zoltar to make you "Big" Scarborough is OK but to get the real Yorkshire coast experience you need to go to Whitby & Robin Hoods Bay. Filey is also nice if you want a quieter resort with a huge beach.

Amazing town of real beauty, fun fact, my grandfather used to fish for tuna out of Scarborough before WWII, with American big game fisherman, some as big as 850lbs ... check it out?
