If you plan to work for attorneys when you go freelance, I'm not sure how that would be considered an unauthorized practice of law. There are remote and freelance paralegals all over the state of Texas. You do you! I would not recommend going freelance within the first five years of being a Paralegal, but freelance isn't the same as remote or virtual (one being a 1099 and the other a W2 employee). I am an older learner who will have my MS in Legal Studies through Washington University School of Law in St Louis by this May along with a litigation certificate from them to go with my MS degree. ., My 4 year degree is in Criminal Justice with a certificate in Legal Studies as well The reason I want to do this is because of my disabilities that i have and until 2 years ago was employed by the US Dept of Treasury Internal Revenue Service in KC MO. I had back surgery and had to give it up. Sad!
