It’s great when Fred breaks, he rarely does it. But I do notice that he can’t speak when he does. His mouth just stays open.

@@coffeeabuse That's actually the whole point of the sketch. Like when Stuart asks Devin to go home, Karina asks "Are you crazy?" not because of how rude it is but because of how jammed the 405 will be at that particular time of day.

Bill’s effort to stay in character at 1:13 is the funniest thing I have seen in a while. And his little “im sorry” at 1:18 was so cute.

Apparently Fred decided minutes before this happened that they should over exaggerate the accents, hence they can't stop laughing.
Nah this is a bit they had been doing for years. He just over exaggerated the "what are you doin here?" Which got them laughing. The accents had been part if it from the beginning

Also Kenan got a ridiculous blond goatee in the live one that helped. Makes me wonder if he got that on last minute just to try and break the cast. 😄

Her "we can do this!" like we can beat this cancer together... then instead going on to describe a shortcut for the drive... whoever wrote this is a genius.

When people say SNL peaked in the 1970s, I think of this cast lineup...another amazing era.
I'm from LA and this shit cracks me up! Their directions are hysterical, and totally spot on. This is TOTALLY how beach LA beach city residents sound.

(I grew up down there too and agree completely. Live in NorCal now and still sometimes get made fun of for an accent I can barely even hear that I have. And I honestly can't think of how to give directions differently or why you'd need to!)
I remember when I first moved to LA asking someone for directions. He spent 20 minutes explaining in depth every turn on a 5 minute trip, and gave me 3 different alternative routes!! After living there 3 years, I started doing the same!!! :)
As someone raised in the LA Beach Cities, the point of getting to Marina Del Rey through El Segundo is SPOT ON because nobody wants to go through LAX.

1:27 the camera zooms over to Bill Hader's face for a exclaimed look, and Bill realizes that the camera is on him, and he tries to go for that surprised look, all the while trying to suppress his clearly unsurppressable laughter, which leads to an awkward expression, and then he realizes that he won't be able to keep a straight face, and just breaks down laughing.
I live for these kind of things.

I work in oncology, and a patient’s wife said this when we gave him the diagnosis. We were all c r y i n g laughing (also the cancer is treatable so yay 🎉).

Bambuswaldninja They sometimes do try to make each other break character and purposely exaggerate or do something not rehearsed to surprise the others. Lorne once said to Bill (and probably the others) to have fun on stage. And the dress versions are more fun, they're more relaxed because they know it's not televised. It's just them and the live audience. :)
