I remember watching Queen: Days Of Our Lives documentary, and Roger Taylor was just 300 yards away from Garden Lodge, and Peter Freestone phoned him, and he said, "Don't bother coming, cos he's gone", and that was on the 24th of November, 1991. That statement made me cry. Sir Elton John made me cry, for Freddie Mercury, again, when he said some kind words, about Freddie Mercury, too. Brian May said something similar to Sir Elton John, and that made me cry, again, for Freddie Mercury.

That was Freddie Mercury in a nutshell. He knew he was dying, he knew he wouldn't see Christmas 1991 but he still made sure he bought his friends and family Christmas presents. He also donated a lot of his money to charity. He was a very generous man. I have read various storys too about how he would secretly send familys who were going through financial struggles money without them actually knowing where it came from.

My dad has a friend who worked for an Italian tv channel back then and he went to London for an event. They went to a dinner in a restaurant with his crew one night. Freddie and some of his entourage and friends were there at one table pretty close to them. My dad's friend recognized Freddie, and being a big fan he asked a waiter to deliver a bottle of wine at Freddie's table. When Freddie noticed the bottle was offered, he stood up, went to my dad's friend table and shared it with them. They spoke for a minute and then Freddie asked my dad's friend for his home address. He didn't realize why Freddie asked for it but he wrote it down for him. Then everyone went back to their business. A few months later, 2 tickets for the Wembley '86 concert came in the mail.
    That's how Freddie Mercury was.

I have always loved Elton for the love and care he showed to Freddie and others. He wrote on the card of the funeral flowers "Thank you for being my friend, I will love you always, Elton XXX"
When Fred died a light went out in the world, a light that can *never* ever be replaced. No one has ever come close to being his equal musically...and I'm absolutely certain no one ever will. Back in 1985 when Freddie when was on stage at Live Aid I stood about ten feet away from him. I was never so spellbound awestruck or mesmerised by anything in my life, as I was by Freddie. I remember thinking what am I going to do with my life when Queen have walked off stage. I remember when Freddie died I was so heart broken and even today if I am in Company and a song such as Those were the days of our lives I turn it off or change the music I just can not listen to him. I don't mind if I am on my own That day Freddie had 80 thousand people in the palm of his hand one thing for sure is no one in that stadium can say that they were not impressed by Freddie and Queen and no political leader in history has ever really done that. Freddie Mercury transcended gender and sexuality and anyways he was probably more of a man then is possible.

He was just showered with fame, fortune, and revel but was able to learn it wasn't the right way to lead his life. I'm glad he was able to clean up and help and support other people as fulfillment instead of turning to partying. I mean, it was a great scene - how he left Madison Square Garden. But a transformative meeting with Ryan White’s family followed by a return to the madness, then culminating in the walkout at MSG would have been incredible.
