But as an assistant-trainer at my martial arts club with 6-7 years of experience, I constantly found myself criticizing the advice the listener apparently gave xD I'm way too serious concering stuff like that, simply because it's a very serious topic.
Getting chased by an axe-murderer? Run tf away and scream to attract attention, or die. Dude got an axe, forget fighting back lmao.
And just like the speaker luckily learned, being smaller and especially lighter in a REAL fight is basicly never an advantage, there is a reason there a weight classes in competitive combat sports. A random untrained but much heavier guy than me could simply invalidate my years worth of martial art skill by simply running me over with his superior mass like a truck if I make even a single mistake and that'd be it for me lol. Just thought I'd put that out there, the most dangerous thing in a fight is false confidence.

I've got a minimal amount of training (and by minimal I REALLY mean minimal) and even I couldn't help but say that the first thing about defending yourself is to run away if at all possible. Only when that fails, or isn't an option, do you resort to actually fighting.

If you can escape, that is your best chance to avoid getting hurt.
If you have to fight, cheat. Aim for soft spots like their crotch, eyes, and kidneys.
Finally if nothing else works, punch as frequently and as hard as you can. Technique isn't important, just deal as much damage as possible.
I saw a video where a blackbelt demonstrated how to deal with an attacker with a knife, and he legit just ran away. Not as a joke, but as serious advice. A knife isn't nearly as dangerous if you're out of slashing and stabbing range.

Since she has a short light build she’ll want to be aggressive type. Contrary to popular belief short people can be excellent kickers and you’ll want to focus on sweep kicks and other lower kicks, but you could back kick someone’s balls or gut and they’re 100% down. When it comes to punches she could do some good with the basics (jab, straight punch, knife hand strike, spear hand strike) but you can do my all time favorite move… THE EAGLE STRIKE 🦅🇺🇸💸🍔
It’s banned basically everywhere because you have a high risk of breaking your opponents jaw, but if done wrong you can break your wrist.

I've only been reading a martial arts book lately, but if I were to suggest one thing... The 1st rule of self-defense is that it's *self-defense*. The opponent isn't what matters, you are. You win not by taking someone down, but by keeping yourself intact and under your own control regardless of what anyone else tries, that's the goal. If you can't avoid the fight, get away, call for help, only fight back as much as you have to to escape and don't get distracted trying to beat your attacker up, that's not your priority, *you are*. (I don't really know what I'm doing, take all this with a pinch of salt.) Stay safe out there, friends.
Yes, but if you actually manage to get their weapon away from them, don't do the movie thing. I cringe every time in horror movies where they have the guy downed his weapon within reach. Yet they run away instead of eliminating the threat.

Do NOT try and surprise the offender, as they might be considerably more experienced and could really hurt you. You can never be too cautious, so avoid confrontation at all cost.

100%. There's only 1 good potential outcome if you try to fight, which is incapacitating them without causing serious damage to both them or yourself. Behind that are hundreds if not thousands of bad outcomes ranging from being arrested for manslaughter, to losing your life. Sometimes it's not possible, but avoidance is the absolute first priority in any dangerous encounter.
