- Explaining how to read inches and centimetres on a tape measure.
A helpful pointer is also included on many tape measures for when you are trying to measure height.
Inches on many tape measures have 16 divisions, representing 1/16th's of an inch, and these also represent the 1/8th and 1/4's of an inch. When measuring your height, 1/4 inches are probably precise enough.
Centimetres have 10 divisions, each division representing 1mm.
1 metre = 100cm.
1cm = 10m
General conversion is
1in = 2.54 cm
On celebheights we display the height in feet/inches and full cm's. The lowest fraction used is 1/4 inch, and we only display full centimetre values for celebrities.

I feel like a div but needed to watch
At school and my dad always had a go at me and put me down for not undwrstanding these measurments and I gave up.
But last week i started a new job and the boss asked me to spread gaps at 300 thats all he said.
But what he meant was 30 cm.
So thanks for your vids
Thanks Rob for this knowledge sharing. The British and the Indian measuring tape have the same markings, so your video was perfect for my understanding. I was particularly confused about the 1-1 (at 12 1/2"), 1-2 ( at 13 1/2") and so on. Your video clarified this for me. Couldn't get this information elsewhere. So thanks a lot.
Heelo sir my height is on exact red marking at 5 feet 8 inches but according to this video its not so am i 5 feet 8 inch exact or shorter than that? i am so confused
Thank you so much!!! 🏴
I don't get why on my 16 inch measuring tape it has 5'10 marked as 180 cm. But my 10 inch it has 5'11 as 180 cm
Its precisely 5’10.8 but that can easily be rounded to 5’11
You should start from start of the tape meter, not half way. Thanks anyway, you tried your best to help.
It makes so much sense how you explained it. Thank you so much 😊
Rob quick question, me and my friend have the exact same tape, he comes out bang on over 6'3 by two mm in the exact same measuring tape in this video but at night he is half over 6'2 between 188 and 189 cm at night sometimes just right on the 6'2 mark what does that mean for him? Is he weak 6'3, solid 6'2, or weak 6'2?
But every wall in the house hes the same, the surface is straight but better we put a piece of wood or a scale to measure better and comes out over 6'3 in the morning. What would that mean? Same thing yoy just said?
Rob is there an email where i can send a few pics of the walls and floors i have? Also wanna show you the measurment as well if thats ok witg you, if not its alright.
I'm 167 cm bare foot but under it it says 170 so am I 5'7 please someone help
great video, I knew most of this (rough on metric measurements as Im from America) but it is a great resource for people learning tools for the first time
This was sooo useful when you think about it in height terms it make sense, I'm 5.7 so that is 170 Meters therefore when working with centimeters i now under stand that the numbers after that are like 1.71 1.72 ect. Thanks
170 meters is 557ft I think you mean 5'7" is 1.7 meters
@@foxhound34 nah bro he's just super tall trust

Thank you, i wanted to know how long 38 mm is and you explained perfectly for me. Best wishes. To fit a screen wash cap on my car. So i dont buy the wrong size.
Simple 3 inches . 8
38mm minus 25.4mm(1 inch) is12.6mm which 12.6mm is close to 12.7mm which is 1/2 inch. So 38mm is 1 inch and 1/2in.
I understand now tnx rob.
Easy to understand thankyou

Thank you
Im 5'11 woah I thought I was 5'9
Thanks
I'm about 182 I think
@@RobPaul thanks mate, we are all short compared to Bigfoot is what I say lol
Thx!!!
Why does your tape measure say that 174 cm is 5.9 foot when it is actually 5.7 foot???????
I have the same doubt.
174 cm is definitely not 5'7
174 is 5'8.5
so 5.9 is 174 cm. i thought it was 175
174cm is 5'8.5 . 68.5 inches
There's not enough room for the 5'9 to be where the 69inch mark is. You're right, 175.26cm is 5'9.
Did you even listen to what Rob was saying in the video?
170 Kitna hota hai
+Raju Ranjan kumar perfect 5.7
Nice
Omg thank you so muuuuch lol
