When I was teaching English in Korea, I encountered a lot of people who had literally never seen a white person in real life before, and my eyes freaked people out. One of my students told me that I had "scary" eyes. I asked what she meant and she said, "They not people-color eyes; they cat-color eyes." One of my preschoolers looked up into my face and in a trembling voice gasped out, "Teacher! Your eyes! Green! WHY!?!?!" Another time I was sitting in a pizza shop just waiting for my take-out order when a girl walked in, did a double take, and cried out, "Your eyes are green!" I just muttered, "Yes, I know." My current theory as to why people say something horrible like "I'm so proud of you for not killing yourself" to anyone that isn't entirely there is pessimistic and believes that you're below them in the pecking order (no pun intended). They're just totally disconnected from reality and can't imagine living differently than everyone else.
Okay the suicide comments really bother me. I have severe depression and before I was properly medicated I attempted suicide many times. That was due to a problem with my brain, not my life! Depression is a disorder, not a point of view. People who think living with a disability makes you depressed are probably depressed themselves and projecting. They think they must earn their sadness somehow through circumstance. Depression doesn't discriminate, and there's no obstacle that justifies suicide. Okay rant over. I really appreciate how you brush things like that off though. Your attitude is awesome and I aspire to be as understanding.

Ha, haaaa, I really had a lot of fun hearing your stories, you're soooo cool, brother! I have a craneo-facial disfigurement and I get reactions too!! I am an English teacher and I come from the Dominican Republic. One of the "positive" reactions I've had from my students is un uncontrollable laugh...I mean, it's kind of sad you suspect they're laughing at you, and of course most of my students don't do it, but what can you do about it?? At the end I think they feel a little bit weird for reacting with such bursts in front of others who did not follow along...and I guess the weirder they feel the more they tend to laugh!!! Anyway, one thing I've learned from you is to see it all with such an awesome sense of humor, which denotes that you, I, and everybody else are just the normal people with a difference...we are basically no different than anybody else, although first reactions are really worth a good laugh!!!
yea, cant control other peoples reaction, lol we might often be someone's first encounter, and especially with kids, we sometimes get some kind of over the top reaction.

I definitely can’t say that I have anything too interesting to say about me, but I’m a guy with a surprisingly feminine-from-behind body, with brown hair that is just about down to the middle of my back, and I’ve been mistaken for a girl many, MANY times The most common one, is when some guy holds a door open for me, and once I say thanks/thank you, their eyes widen, not expecting a deep voice, and the first thing they do is take a quick look at my chest, see that I’m a dude, and not a girl for obvious reasons, and just continue on Best mistaken gender moment I’ve had so far, about five months back now, was when I was with my family, simply eating at Swiss Chalet, when I had to use the restroom So I go in, do what I need to do, and as I’m finishing up washing my hands, some old dude walks in, and does the thing that has beaten everything ever in relatable levels for me, I felt so sympathetic for him He opened the door, saw me, and must have mistaken me for a woman, because all I hear from behind me is “Oop!” So I look at him through the mirror, and I see him adjust his glasses, look at the sign on the door again to make sure that it was the male restroom, look down at the ground, and walk over to one of the stalls After a few seconds, I finished up washing my hands, and decide to call out “Yes, I know, I have long hair.” No reply, just awkward, embarrassing, *SILENCE* ...well, for him, anyway
It’s funny what kids can be traumatized by. When I was about 7 or 8, I was shopping with my mom and I saw this elderly lady with a twisted leg in some kind of brace. It freaked me out so badly that I was terrified of the dark after that. Even with a nightlight on, if I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I would call for my mom down the hallway and she would have to get up from bed and see me to the bathroom (lest the Twisted Leg Lady attack me). I was traumatized by that memory for years. If children have endured trauma in their young lives beforehand, such as I did, it doesn’t take much to set them off. God bless! ❤️❤️

My current theory as to why people say something horrible like "I'm so proud of you for not killing yourself" to anyone that isn't entirely there is pessimistic and believes that you're below them in the pecking order (no pun intended). They're just totally disconnected from reality and can't imagine living differently than everyone else.
Your energy is awesome rowdy!! ✌🏻
Aw what a sweet thing to say to someone, so proud of you for not committing suicide, Rodney!
Rowdy you are amazing. Your personality and presence is absolutely awesome. Much love brother from a military veteran from Texas!
I completely agree with everything you said! And thank you.
When I was young I lived in a very small country town (around 4000 people). I'm left-handed and was outside painting the front of the house with my dad. Someone walked by and yelled "he's using the wrong hand" to my dad. I turned around and said "I'm left-handed". The dude look confused like he's never seen a left-handed person before and didn't know what I meant. I think about his ignorance to this day LOL.
I didn't think that any reaction could top the "terrible life" elevetor guy, but that last one of the kid is amazing 😂😂
I would've danced with you man!
Charlie Ballew ikr! I though the same thing
Me too
This was hilarious love your sense of humor I currently suffer from MS doctors say I may not be able to walk within a couple years actually say I shouldn't be walking now but I refuse to give up you are an inspiration to us all.
You seem like a really cool dude, thanks for making vids!
dude you are funny as hell😂. thanks for making me laugh today lmfao
You do a good job showing all how life does not stop you!
I guess I just have a stealthy walk because I can walk up to someone when they’re talking to a few other people and then start talking. Every single time, they jump like a foot like with your story with the waiter and go “WHERE DID YOU COME FROM??” And then I do it again like a minute later and I get the same reaction
You're a legend mate!
Watching from Birmingham, UK.
Keep up your excellent channel!
Thanks man!
I’m dying of laughter, I’m sorry but the way your describing it I can just picture it 😂
I love your great upbeat outlook on life , I love your positive attitude all the time.
"I should start zeroing in on people's problems and congratulate them on not killing themselves."
These stories are hilarious. 😂 The Halloween one is golden.
I think your life is more interesting then majority of the population... Keep pumping videos Rowdy, hungry to see more 😊
Man, you are a motivation for so many people, found you randomly and I love this channel
Thanks =)
Bro love the vids don’t let anything stop you
This dude is one of the most humblest persons l have seen
Like better then people who are not disabled
Rowdy, I dig your perspective on life. Thanks for sharing your thoughts n awesome sense of humor! ✌️
I must admit the first few vids I was paying attention to your body, but your general spirit and overall attitude nomalized everything...last few vids I was only curious about your impression about Colorado etc..great attitude man.
Number 3 Got me cracked. “Oh god! Hey How Are ya?” Like bruuuuuuh
You crack me up! Thanks for sharing, love your sense of life-humor!😊♥️🙏✌️
Thank you!
You should lay down by the elevator and act like you were caught in it. And then just stroll away
Rowdy: i should pobably feel bad i might have traumatised him
also Rowdy: THAT WAS SO GREAT!
@@RowdyBurton , yeah, it's perhaps the old myth that says you can be in control of everything and everybody, and that's a sad delussion we carry all along until we mature or die. I see that you kind of have gone over it with great coolness and understanding of other people's ignorance, and that's perhaps one of the things that make you very special and very normal all in one. Thanks for your videos, dear Rowdy!
Absolutely loving your videos man, keep them coming!
This was so funny and priceless. Loved it. Thanks Rowdy! You Rock bud.
Glad you enjoyed it =D
My God people are douches. That story about you trolling the kid though was priceless.
Craziest reactions I've ever gotten? I have very poor social skills, so every place I go there's at least one person who seems to think I'm mentally challenged. Occasionally I snap and tell them where they can stick it.
Oh wow that sounds like it would be annoying to deal with
Oh wow, I'm not alone :D I'm just super introverted, and some people honestly think I'm mentally challenged. They will talk to me as if I were a child, or they would talk to people who are with me and ask them questions about me while I'm standing next to them.
@@RandolphCrane Good god, okay I've never been spoken about in third person to my face before, that's even worse!
LOVE THIS CAT. Mr.Burton is Rowdy. How he scatters Us. Gratitude Dood 😎
Oh my gosh, dude, I can think of some hysterical Halloween costumes you could pull off!!!
I was on a wheelchair for 6 months. And I felt bad. My girlfriend at the time. 98 lbs. Pushing these wheelchair. 225 lbs.(everyone is always looking like there suprise or confused) I lost weight. And wanted to do everything my self. But it so hard. To get used to your arm. Lifting your entire weight. After 7 months. I was able to start walking. Metal on my leg. Still not the same. Many yrs. Later. I have notice. I take good care of my knees with metal. Because if I dont. I could possible be back on a wheel chair. Or loose my leg. Either way. My story. Sorry. But that feeling. Will never go away. I know about 5 months ago. You nubbs got some shoes . And your video. Finally . Watching you. Felt like the first time walking for me. Almost 1 yr. Not using my legs. I was just happy I could stand up. And I could see how happy you were not to have those longer legs. Of metal. Then I saw your other video. Showing them off. Explain how you got this. You were born with problem.s and I'm so sorry bro. I'm happy your happy. Seriously. That vibrations. Keep it up brother. Hope colorado is treating you well. I'm from colorado. I love it. But in California for now. But will be moving back. Mountain air. Is so good for you.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! So far so good here in Colorado, still getting used to the weather lol
@@RowdyBurton lol I bet it's cold and snowy righ now. Perfect to get cozy. But the summer. So much music festivals. Very family friendly. (Usually) and so much art. New technology's colorado is doing. With the tax money going into jobs and creating better environment for school & kids and teachers.. a lot of land is protected. Its amazing just driving around. Its beautiful. I'm jelouse I'm not in colorado. Right now. ...
this was flipping helirous you had me dying of laughter hats off to yah mate.
You’re like one of my most favorite people
I love the Halloween story, poor kid, but hilarious at the time.
You are awesome man......very real and hilarious
Dude! I just recently found your channel.
I immediately wished you were closer so you could scare the daylights out of my coworker! lol
lol, Welcome to the channel =)
Does it offend you or bother you when someone has that second of “whoa!” Because I do that sometimes when I’m not expecting anything, and I always feel bad. Of course I just adjust my self and treat anyone like a person. Because that’s what we are. People.
Nope! Very used to that
LOL
Rowdy Burton thanks for responding. I’m trying to become a very accepting person. Because everyone deserves to feel safe and accepted, regardless of physical and mental barriers and such. I have some mental health problems, so I can relate to people going “whoa” when I talk about what goes on in my head haha.
@hank Anderson I love that you’re becoming a more accepting person. Some people only work on tolerance. Love and let live ✌🏻 ❤️
i would most likely go with a half composed "damn! what's up man?"
Here's my reaction story: I've had eczema all of my life, especially on my face. When I was a baby people would never say that I was cute or anything they'd just say WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIS FACE?! 🤣
Great video mate! Speaking of reactions when i encounter people with special needs and disabilities i can't help but to feel sorry for them, i don't say anything out loud and i know i probably shouldn't feel bad but i just do for some reason which is funny cuse the individual is probably happier than me after all.
I mean can't really help how we feel sometimes, all we can do is ask ourselves how we would want to be treated in the reverse roll, which I guess is true for most situations lol
Dude you are so awsome and cool I love your channel I just came by it today and I am subscribing as soon as I finish writing this comment
I'M very proud of you.I think you're and inspiration to me ,and others to believe in yourself. You're a strong man.I like You're courage. I think that makes people feel good about themselves. Thank you!
Oml this man can pull off the best Halloween costume known to humanity.
Ahah people in the elevator : HOLY SH....hey buddy hows it going today ? You made my day ahah 😆
“...and some say that he is still running to this day” I appreciate you sharing these experiences with us! My husband requires forearm crutches due to Cerebral Palsy. Anyway, he’s always treated like a king when we go out anywhere and there is a door to go thru. Here I am with say, 2 suit cases, a duffle bag, and three sacks of snacks. Nothing. Yeah, we get cracked up now that he believes me.
My girlfriend can probably relate to this! haha
James Franco vibes👍 just found your channel you’re awesime👌
I definitely can’t say that I have anything too interesting to say about me, but I’m a guy with a surprisingly feminine-from-behind body, with brown hair that is just about down to the middle of my back, and I’ve been mistaken for a girl many, MANY times
The most common one, is when some guy holds a door open for me, and once I say thanks/thank you, their eyes widen, not expecting a deep voice, and the first thing they do is take a quick look at my chest, see that I’m a dude, and not a girl for obvious reasons, and just continue on
Best mistaken gender moment I’ve had so far, about five months back now, was when I was with my family, simply eating at Swiss Chalet, when I had to use the restroom
So I go in, do what I need to do, and as I’m finishing up washing my hands, some old dude walks in, and does the thing that has beaten everything ever in relatable levels for me, I felt so sympathetic for him
He opened the door, saw me, and must have mistaken me for a woman, because all I hear from behind me is
“Oop!”
So I look at him through the mirror, and I see him adjust his glasses, look at the sign on the door again to make sure that it was the male restroom, look down at the ground, and walk over to one of the stalls
After a few seconds, I finished up washing my hands, and decide to call out
“Yes, I know, I have long hair.”
No reply, just awkward, embarrassing, *SILENCE*
...well, for him, anyway
haha, thats pretty funny 😂
I love your humor 😂😂😂
Why are you in that couch sir? hahaha classic Rowdy
I love your videos Rowdy!
God bless! ❤️❤️
Floxendoodle My god get a grip
Haha!! Thanks for making my night with your videos! Newly subscribed.
Just found your channel and I really love all your content, keep making videos! I could watch you talk forever, you're a funny dude 😁
Thanks, I appreciate that!
I'm watching your whole channel man, love it
I love your videos so much 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 the Halloween part with the kid is funny 😆
How can someone dislike your videos!?
I had to laugh at these. I’m sorry but they were too funny. Really made my morning
You are a very cool man.you are so upbeat...I love that.
You're incredible!!
Rowdy, that was great! Thanks for the chuckles 🤭
It seems that one of the worst problems being without legs is people in an elevator farting.
Boy, should we 'talk', Rowdy!! :-D I could tell you some *whoppers* about the reactions I've gotten in life for having a condition very similar to, or the same as, yours!! :-D
Ya we should trade stories sometime
that kid would survive any horror movie he's got good instincts.
ya i agree
lmao you're one funny dude keep it up brother
