thanks for this made it super easy in the end, just a tip, when plugging back in I would turn off the power and make sure the circuit isn't live, it could spark/surge and blow the new bulb again.
Very well explained the process and what bulb was needed. The turn signal was giving this fast clicking which in addition to warning message prompted me to check that something was wrong with the light. Thanks!

Why do we have to search TH-cam for how to change lightbulbs in our VW’s? Manual didn’t mention the screw lol, I figured it had to be taken off but “measure twice, don’t make stuff fall off and end up with an extra screw not knowing where it was supposed to be installed” is what pappy used to say

I have a 2017 Passat R-Line and it doesn’t have the tabs to open it where the bulb is… I don’t know how to get it opened and there are no videos on it
Is there a cutout in the same spot?
Still doesn’t work. Any ideas?
The next thing I would check is make sure there isn't a blown fuse.
Check the cable that connected the bulb and see if there's any cracked housing.

As soon as the light bulb is replaced the circuit is completed and the light goes off. So yes
