Call Me Baby and Monster were probably the 2 songs that introduced me to EXO but I did not become an EXO-L until I started diving into their B-sides and that's where their real magic lies 😉
I became a fan in 2012 but I completely agree. Their b-sides are amazing to me

I miss when they release 2 MVs every comeback. It's fun to spot the difference.
Overdose have many versions of the choreo for stage perf. Exok only ver, exom only ver, exo OT12 korean ver, exo ot12 mandarin ver. Then revisions was made when the chinese members started to left. So there were OT11 version, OT10 ver, OT9 ver. They have a lot of mistakes when performing this song due to the revisions. There's a time when exok members supposed to go down the stage, but Kai forgot and danced with exom, The shock face of Tao when he saw Kai that time was hilarious...
The differences are fun to spot for sure!
And I didn't realize that they changed the choreo several times. *smacks forehead*. 🤦🏻♀️ But of course they did after the members left. The poor guys!

In Overdose they have different parts since in K most of the track is by K members and in M it's mostly M.
I know there's a behind the scenes of overdose MV where the guys mention the cameraman and the huge contraption he had to wear to keep the camera steady, I'll have to find it when I get back home in a few hours 😓
Call Me Baby is the last MV with Tao. After that it's just EXO.
They had a whole path code teasers for that comeback with fans having to decipher clues and such

In EXO's "Overdose" MV what you saw is that the members have been trapped in a maze by the Red Force and they are trying to use their superpowers to escape the maze. For example, in the Korean version you see Chen throw a beam of light which is an example of them using their powers. Chen has the power to control lightning so he tossed a lightning bolt to Lay who has the power of healing. Lay is the only one who could have caught that light beam without being injured because Lay has the power of healing and he can heal himself.
So, the story in the MV is pretty much the members trying to summon their powers to try and escape from the maze. The box that D.O. had at the beginning of the MV was full of dirt. D.O.'s superpower is the power of earth or dirt and it gives him super strength or force, so he was using the sand to build his strength back up. The other members were also trying to use their powers of teleportation, fire, light, etc.
In the beginning when you see the EXO-K members making that picture while standing on each other, they are forming their hexagon symbol which is EXO's official symbol. (As you saw in the M version, it was different members.) The different sets you see, are thought to be different rooms within the maze, or maybe alternate realities or time periods created by the Red Force to lure the EXO members to them.
Also something to note, you see Kai in the beginning and end of the MV in the Korean version because he is the center and visual of EXO-K. However, in the Mandarin version you see Luhan fills that same role because he is the center and visual of EXO-M. Plus, Kai and Luhan were each others' power counterparts as well. So this establishes the connection between EXO-K and EXO-M. Kai and Luhan were supposed to have a bond that connected the two groups and made them one as part of EXO's storyline.
How EXO worked back when they were split up into the two groups was that all the members were in both MVs, but the K members were featured more prominently in the K version of the song and the M members were featured in the M version. As you saw, in the EXO-K version of "Overdose" the K members sing the main parts of the song and they are the first group of 6 you see. (When you see them revisit the same sets in the MV the group you see is the 6 EXO-M members.) And, in the Mandarin version, you see the M members take over the main parts of the song and the K members are the ones you see second. So, even when the MVs look the same, they will always be slightly different because the members are assigned different parts in each MV. If you remember the story that "Mama" tells us, EXO-K and EXO-M stand on the same ground and see different things and they stand on different grounds and see the same thing, etc. The EXO-M MVs will be slightly different because the story is being told from their perspective, where the EXO-K MVs tell the story from EXO-K's point of view.
For example, in the Korean version, the EXO-K rappers (Chanyeol and Sehun) are the ones that are part of the rap section. However, in the Mandarin version, you see Kris, Xiumin and Tao are the rappers because they are EXO-M's rappers. Tao is also the martial artist of the group, so he is the one that does the flips and stunts in all of EXO's routines. And the main vocal parts and high notes are done by Baekhyun in the Korean version, but in the Mandarin version that part is Chen's because he is EXO-M's main vocalist, etc.
At the end of the MV we discover that the maze has only one way in and no way out. Which I think is meant to represent and mirror the fact that they are saying they are trapped by love and once you are in there is no way out. The maze was also EXO's logo for this album and it is shaped like EXO's hexagon symbol.
Although, in the song they're not overdosing on anything except love. As the English lines in the song say: "So bad, no one can stop her ... her love, her love (is) fantasy ... Oh she wants me, Oh she's got me ... Oh she hurts me ... someone call the doctor ... (her love makes me) overdose ... too much of your love makes me overdose ... too much overdose ... You're in my heart ... with you I can't stop", etc. This song is kind of a love song about how powerful love can be that it feels like no matter how much you try to resist it you keep getting pulled back in like a drug.
However, for the storyline in the MV there might be a little more at play than just being drugged by love. Some theories say that the story in "Overdose" is connected to the story in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Overdose" the members get trapped in the maze and they can't find their way out. The red light represents the Red Force who have trapped them in the maze. It is thought that the maze causes the members to get disoriented and sort of become incapacitated so they are unable to defend themselves. The maze dulls their senses and makes it so they lose the ability to use their powers at full strength, etc.
The theory speculates that sometime after the end of the "Overdose" MV, EXO gets captured or transferred from the maze -- or possibly moved to another room within the maze -- and brought to the government facility by the Red Force. That is why we see them in a hospital-like setting in their "Lucky One" MV. In the story in the "Lucky One" MV the members are drugged by the Red Force and they are being experimented on to discover what makes them so special. So the maze is thought to be created by the Red Force in order to gain control of the EXO members.
As you can see, their "Overdose" MV establishes the fact that EXO are trapped in a maze, which is why we believe that several of EXO's other MVs are also showing them trapped in the maze and trying to figure out how to excaple, etc. This storyline doesn't end here, it continues in several of their other MVs.
Therefore, this is an example of how all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together.
"Overdose" came out in 2014 and this is one of the last MVs where all 12 members are part of the song and MV. (Kris left the group right after this MV was released and Luhan will leave within the next 6 months.)
This video was more intricate with the EXO universe than it was with "Call Me Baby." I figured that the Red Force was trying to seep in while they were singing/dancing because the light was red for quite some time (even though we saw some green/turquoise lights in the early sequences).
I love how they leave fun stuff such as their powers to decipher with you guys and how the storyline is all connected.
However, I will say that I stopped reading this comment right when you mentioned the "Lucky One" MV. Not because I don't appreciate you writing this all out but we have yet to see that MV and we are trying to get to the know the universe as well. The fun part for us is trying to figure out on our own first. We are trying to avoid spoilers.
I'm going to revisit this comment and read the rest of it once we see the "Lucky One" and how it's connected. I didn't realize it would be until you mentioned it so now it will be in the back of my head once we watch it. I do keep my word that I read every word, so BRB to this comment. haha.

It's currently looking nice now too 😂
I agree that after what's his face beat it, EXO started to come into their own and they started to have fun. They also became even more saucy and sexy. Whether that's a coincidence or not idk but I think not LOL
I can't help that this was my first time watching and my eyes went straight to Baek. LOL. Don't ask me how but my vision isn't the best but for my eyes to go straight back to the left at that part...I surprise myself sometimes too. Even Beth didn't know where he was. HAHA. I honestly try to watch everyone, and I eventually do because I watch these videos multiple times...but man, I got busted staring at Baek this time. LMAO.

In "Call Me Baby," as you may have noticed, there are only 10 members.This MV came out in 2015 and it was the first MV after Kris and Luhan left. This also was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao, the youngest member of EXO-M -- the tall, blond with the orange shoes --left the group shortly after "Call Me Baby."
As you noticed, when you watch the two versions side by side, you see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dance sections where you might think "it looks the same" there are different members doing different parts. The two versions of their MVs may look similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch.
In the Mandarin version you see the EXO-M members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version the EXO-K members (Suho, D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun) sing those same parts. For example, in the Korean version D.O sings a lot of the main parts, but in the Mandarin version those same parts were sung by Lay, and in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version you saw Chanyeol and Sehun, etc.
Fun fact: Leading up to the release of the "Call Me Baby" MV, there were 10 Pathcode teasers that were released over several weeks. There was a short teaser video for each of the members, and combined with clues from an SM Entertainment twitter account, we had to piece together the story and solve the mystery to reveal the release date and title of EXO's new song, which ended up being "Call Me Baby." If you notice, there are 10 letters in the title "Call Me Baby" so there was one letter per EXO member. If you want to watch their Pathcode teasers just search SM's TH-cam channel. They are all there. The stories in the teasers also connect to EXO's larger storyline as well, and it is thought that they not only show clues to "Call Me Baby," but they also reveal more clues to EXO's storyline and tell a little more of EXO's story. The Pathcode videos are super interesting and very mysterious, just like everything EXO does.

We didn't "probably" notice about the two versions are the same (this is to your original comment). We did notice they are different. ;). We also mentioned the members singing different parts. In fact, we mentioned it in the video that they all didn't have the same lines and at one point Chen tilted the camera in the Korean ver and Baekhyun tilted the camera in the Mandarin ver.
As for the Mandarin ver, Beth mentioned that Tao, along with Lay, shines a lot as well if I could recall correctly.

As much as I *love* Call Me Baby (it's was my first comeback as a full-fledge EXO-L^.^), there's this looming dark cloud when I watch it, cause I can't help but think how much Tao must've been in pain filming that MV. He had a pretty serious foot/ankle/leg(?) injury(injuries) that he needed bedrest for, at the time. And yet he was seen hobbling to the store on crutches to get his medication and taken places in a wheelchair. SM also sent him on an international flight to film for the Pathcode teasers (can not recommend enough to watch those!). Then had him film both versions of the dance heavy mv. And then they had him perform the comeback stage & had wanted originally to have him do more of the comeback stages, but even they seemed to realize that was too far~ And he also still attended the concerts EXO was doing, where he'd come out on crutches and sit on a stool, similar to what Kai would later do with his own injury during a later tour (the one upside when Kai was injured was SM seemed to have learned to not make their artist film a dance with foot-related injuries, cause Kai is mostly seated in Lotto's mv and did not perform the song live until he had returned to performing officially~).
OH nooooo! That gives me a diff perspective too! (And btw, how cool this song was your first cb! I love it!). I had no idea that Tao was enduring so much pain. That makes me sad. :\. So crazy. I only hope that the artists get treated way better now than they were back then. This is all a learning experience.

Cause I've noticed new fans dont often get told full backgrounds for some things... but I kinda wanna start a Twitter or something first that goes with it, cause I want the info to come from a collection of hardcore EXO-Ls, not just me~

I will say that depending what kind of content you put out, it might not be a cake walk but the results will be very gratifying because it's a topic you are passionate about. Personally I dedicate about 20+ hours a week to this channel on top of my full time job that sometimes go 50+ hours a week depending on the season. People see only episodes daily, but there's video editing, creating a schedule, replying to DMs (if you choose to), etc. For me, it's important for me to be connected with all of you guys. If one day our channel gets bigger and I can't maintain replying back to everyone, I know for certain that I will always read all of your comments down to the preposition. lol.
Would I do this all again, knowing how much work this entails? I would in a heartbeat because my love for this genre is infinite.
But do know social media + YT will be a lot of work...or maybe it won't be if you choose to post once a month. For us, it's always fast paced because of the volume of content we put out.
Ok, so fun fact: Call me baby demo was called "call me daddy". Lol it's definitely a sexy song but I'm glad sm tone it down. Also there's a live version of call me baby from the elyxion tour (if I'm not mistaken) where they performe in suits in a bar (the whole thing is like a musical it's amazing). 18:23 There is a making of/behind the scenes for this mv; I think the shot you're wondering about is one where they used a camera on a crane^.^ A lot of the rest seems to be a cameraman moving around inside with them, and part of that does appear to have been taken in the form of a one-shot that they just cut up (at least according to stuff said in the making of)^.^

Xiumin is my Ult bias and yes, they so did him dirty in the early days! Even though he's the oldest, including in OT12, they still styled him like a toddler or a child - would make him be the only one wearing shorts for example, or in childish prints... the same with his hair too, they really tried to emphasize his role as the "cutie" of the group. Nowadays he's still adorable and cute but that's just his natural self! His recent solo gave us the best of both sides of him and I love that! 🥰
Minseok has said in a behind the scenes video for Call Me Baby that he almost wore no shirt under that jacket (the middle section outfit) but in the end wore the mesh shirt instead! 🤭2015, the year of Call Me Baby was when he was most rippped! 😳The concert tour they did that year we got abs and plenty of half naked Minseok! 95% of all shirtless Xiumin pics you will find online are from the 2015/early 2016 tour! 😄
