I don't think they're missing many of those hints. They see the mutual affection already in place. What they are missing is the gay nuance. To someone who has been closeted, who has crushed on a same-sex friend, who has felt the need to keep that crush secret, watching Pran endure Pat proclaim his affection hits differently. Anyone can get his anguish intellectually, and most viewers do. These reactors did. But some of us had a reaction more visceral than intellectual. I don't think they appreciated just how common an experience that moment was for closeted gay men. We have our own version of that experience, and when Pran rolls away from Pat to conceal his emotions we don't just get it, we feel queasy echoes of our own pasts. Likewise, Pat proclaiming his affection for Ink led our reactors to proclaim "we got it wrong," whereas gay viewers were like, "ahh, self-deception! I remember that phase." Pat didn't lie about that crush on Ink. It is real to him. He just hasn't worked out himself yet why he keeps noticing when Pran is distressed or why he wants always to look after him. Our straight reactors absolutely noticed that behavior. But when Pat later insisted he was after Ink, they doubted their own eyes and gave greater weight to Pat's words. But, no, I don't think they're missing much of the big picture. Not remotely.
@@johnmaster3748 i notice that since ink arrive and pran shows his jealousy, they have started to catching up on things, but before that, they didnt even have a clue whether or not pran likes pat 😂😂 they did also admit it in this video. And yeah, the nuance too.
@@mintaroum.9096 to be fair, Pran's longstanding crush is MUCH more obvious when one rewatches. The first time, some of those little details are ambiguous enough that one can be unsure, or not completely sure, whether Pran's behavior indicates what you suspect. I think they are picking up on plenty.
Actually, since this is their first Thai drama, I am more curious whether they can tell when flashbacks occur. Like, by now I know that the blue shorts and dress shirt with a number sewn on means "this is high school." And the white shirt and black tie worn to class every day means "college freshman." The flashbacks are easy enough to ID from context, too...but if one knows the visual cues, then you don't need to wait for the dialog to prov8de context. On the love cues, I think they are pretty quick.
Pat our oblivious boy and Pran our too self-aware boy 😭
Pat knows that he cares about Pran and that he feels positive feelings about him so he keeps wanting to be around him and keeps unintentionally flirting with him. Like Pat is pretty transparent, so he’s just acting on the feelings he has around Pran without understanding that they’re romantic feelings.
Pran on the other hand has known he’s liked Pat for YEARS like since middle school/high school but to him Pat is basically unattainable because of the conflict between their parents. Pran’s always been the one who got worse repercussions for interacting with Pat, so being hopelessly in love with him on the side-line was what he thought was his only option. The more Pat flirts with Pran the more Pran has his walls down, but he’s also more cautious because he’s distinctly aware of every single thing that can come between them whether it’s his parents or friends.
Ink doesn't love either of them, just saying. Our two boys are just too stubborn to admit what they feel at this point in time.
1) Pat only *thinks* he likes Ink and hurts Pran unintentionally.
2) Pran has liked Pat since middle school basically, and when Ink got transferred to their class he saw how smitten the other was with her, so he chose to keep his feelings hidden.
3) That scene at the end is a cinematic masterpiece. Pat is blissfully oblivious to what Pran is feeling, and the worst thing is that he still cares for Pran and does things that make him fall in love even more (like the dimple comment).
4) That *_I hate you_* from Pran was half-serious, half-joking, he was putting on a mask and trying not to show how heartbroken he was.
Or more like "i hate you because i love you too much".

just to be clear, pat doesn’t act that flirty with everyone. just pran (and ink sometimes but not as much i don’t think). he does like him, he just doesn’t realize it yet. he only knows he likes/liked ink. he hasn’t ever really thought about what him and prans relationship means aside from them being “frenemies” or wtv u wanna call it.

A lot of times if an 'r' comes after another consonant, Thais don't pronounce it unless they're purposefully speaking really clearly and formally. I think you hear Pran's mom pronounce the 'r' sometimes. A lot of times 'r' not after a consonant gets pronounced as 'l' instead, although that's not relevant to Pran's name. But it took some getting used to as someone learning Thai.

As for Wai and Korn...the BL genre must be so incredibly formulaic because literally everyone who has ever watched this show looks at that enmity between Korn and Wai and reaches the same conclusion: i will only be satisified when these two become an item. I imagine that in December 2021 there betting pools wagering on exact which episode that inevitable plot development would come to pass. (Speaking of formulas, veteran watchers of prior GMMTV series would have answered, "Ehhh, they're the side couple. Not sooner than the last episode.")

I really enjoy your reaction videos! I want to answer Kev's question regarding the pronunciation of the letter R in Thai which is indeed ambiguous because sometimes it's interchangeable with the letter L, for the example: arai ('what' in Thai) sometimes is pronounced as 'alai', and it also can be silent like how Pran's name can be pronounced as 'Paan' or 'Pran' with the clear R.

Pran siempre supo que le gustaba Pat pero por sus inseguridades le dio miedo dar el paso. Era muy confuso porque pat se comportaba como si le correspondiera en high school pero luego era igual con Ink. Se encuentran nuevamente en la universidad y sucede lo mismo. Pran cada dia mas enganchado por pat que inconscientemente le flirtea (porque en el fondo le gusta pero no se ha dado cuenta) y para colmo pat le confirma que le gusta la chica de la cual pran sospechaba que sería algo de Pat. Como dijeron Ink es solo una mariposa social 😭
