Hm, the vocals in this song aren't exactly extraordinary enough to blow me away but I think they fit the mood of the song well enough. They way I see it, the song isn't about that powerful expression of pain but more of a quiet, rueful lamentation. There is longing, but there is also an acceptance of the circumstances there. Which is why imo the gentler delivery still works. I am probably overthinking this too much though. 😅 Anyway, love this song and always love Xulfi's arrangements. The rock inspired instrumentation caters very much to my music taste, and the melodious touches with the violin gives me life. And of course, the Desi instruments are integrated so seamlessly that despite the western atmosphere overall, it feels very familiar. He's a musical genius. That is all. Since you want to do more Nescafe Basement for now, I'll rec two of my absolute favourites from season 4 if you haven't heard them already. Tere Jeya Hor Disda and Gorak Danda. Both are Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sahb covers but are beautifully modernized imo.
