I believe the old iron wheel you found is out of a window. I remember way back when my dad was still living, we'd torn down some old fallen and dilapidated houses and the old windows had weights in them. The weights had ropes and secured to a pulley that was mounted in both left an right topside if the windows. The weights helped in raising the windows up as they were much heavier back then. My dad used to have hundreds of these old weights. As always I enjoyed your video Donnie.

The wheel looks like what was in my grandfather's hand crank sharpening stone. It had 4 of those wheels with two on each side that sat in a cradle. The axle that ran through the big stone rested on the rollers. The cradle held grease and there was a cover on each cradle that held the axle in place. The wheel turned real easy on those rollers. A logging crew may have had one to sharpen axes back in the old days. It was a bad day when they lost that wheel.

I love hunting in the woods. My best find was an old hatchet head I found tucked way up under a big spruce tree root. Now here in Tennessee, I have a creek behind my house down in a steep ravine. It’s extremely rocky and rough, but I found evidence that someone rode a horse down that creek a long time ago. On a little point of land I found a busted horse shoe and near that part of a file. This point of land is only big enough for someone to pitch a tent and maybe hobble a horse. I found an old tin can in the same area ,all but disintegrated from rust. Then I found a cowboy boot heel in the creek. It all tells a story to me.

Awesome shell heads Donnie, I've never heard of some of them before. That little wheel came off a wedge sharpener and axe sharpener. It was in the middle of around grinding rock, you had foot peddles to make it turn. When it spinned it would sharpen your tools. More than likely the stone wore out and split in half. When you change the stone a collar on the shaft, it had 4 fingers that locked in the 4 holes. Who ever changed the wheel, more than likely dropped it in the thick leaves and never found it. Our neighbor had one, back in the 70's. I use to set and watch him sharpen his tools. God Bless you! (Glen). WV.

New ridge, new old finds. You showed a few details about your Equinox 600, I had never heard of the Equinox before seeing yours. i looked it up on the internet. You mentioned that it is waterproof and I thought that meant that it could hold up in the rain. There are videos of people taking it scuba diving! I don't expect to see a video of you diving with yours, but it's good to know that your Equinox will hold up if you ever fall in the creek with it.

Great finds! That wheel looks like it flew out of the antique alien spacecraft or maybe not. Maybe it was a gyroscopic thingy wheel, or maybe not. I’m really rusty like that wheel when it comes to telling stories! My stories are full of holes just like that wheel. I have no idea. I hear people get lost in them mountains all the time, you be careful!

I'm very much like you Mr Laws. I am always thinking about how something got there. Who used it. Why is it there and that wheel is a real thinker! What in the world was it on up on that rocky top? Why is there not stuff all around it? Its obviously fairly old from all that rust. The questions we will never find answers to i reckon.

Bill, in the fall of 1911, is operating a steam powered donkey engine for the logging company he worked for. The logging company is just getting started on this new ridge owned by an older feller, with a stipulation that they hire his grandson Clifford. During the mid afternoon break time his young, new coworker Clifford comes over to chat. Clifford pulls out a tin of snuff, the top of the can slips from Clifford cold hands and lands right in the middle of Bill's still idling belt system. The tin can lid causes a leather belt to slip off and knock a small idler pulley clean off. It sails 20ft over Bills and Clifford's head and onto the leaf and sawdust covered ground. Bill curses Clifford and both spend the next 30 minutes looking for the pulley, but to no avail. The foreman Mr. Jack, notices the lack of work and comes over to see the damage. Mr. Jack gives them both a tongue lashing and goes to look for a spare pulley. He finds no spare pulley today but a spare part is known to be back at the main camp. Well, Mr. Jack looks at his pocket watch and sees that it is 4:11pm and decides to shut down the work for the rest of the day.
Clifford offers to take Bill squirrel hunting to make up for the lost partial days wage. Clifford tells Bill that his grand pappy's land is the best for squirrel hunting. Bill and Clifford spend the last couple hours of daylight hunting on the ridge. Bill had his 16ga Parker Brothers side by side with some new Peter's HV shells that he wanted to try out. Clifford used his old single shot 20ga with some Sear & Roebuck shells. Clifford apologized again for the accident before they parted ways, Bill said "that pulley would never be found and no one would think about ever again after a few days".
Bill and Clifford became good friend after that day and went hunting as much as possible together. Bill went on to become a foreman and worked for years as a lumberman. Clifford joined the army a few years later and never returned home from the Great War. Every time Bill went squirrel hunting as an old man, he thought of his good friend Clifford.

From the look of the first two shells that you found, I'd say those are from the 1920s. The wheel looks like an old caster wheel used on furniture (like tables) back in the day. I don't know what else it could possibly be if not that.

I’ve got a black oak standing probably give or take a little but around 20 yards in front of my stand. Squirrels have raised in a whole just big enough they can get in it. My stands been fastened to the same white oak since I started hunting there probably 12-13 years now. There was two that came out of their den and they were probably 10-12 inches long tail and all. Now the farm is fixing to be sold and houses put on it. I’ve killed several wall hanger deer over there. All good things come to an end don’t they sir????? Sorry for the long message sir GOD BLESS
