when Voll said hes protecting the village for his human wife and to keep a promise to a dead woman, i think Himmel gathered itd be like that for Frieren too -- continuing to live when her companions are gone. leaving all the statues behind for her was such an act of love ;____;
If you check, Frieren stated Voll had bene protecting the same village for over 400 years. Given he had to be at least around 50 to start that, and dwarves average surviving to about 300, he is extremely old. And given his memory issues, he's also clearly senile. Frieren realized it too. She realized it when he made it clear he wasn't lying about remembering his wife, and she realized it even harder when he said he remembered her in a dream.
@@_zurr Yeah. Grossly oversimplified, it's when the brain is burning those last few memories out, and possibly the brain cells with them. I've lost family to that process. It isn't pretty.
Did you also feel unease when Frieren talked about an old friend who’s supposedly 100 years older than the age his species is expected to live? Did you notice Fern and Stark walking together and laughing in the background? Did you realize how Voll was established as one of the most remarkable characters you’ve seen seconds after seeing him? And then, in a few minutes, you might’ve felt empathy for that very same strong character and wished someone would hug him. Were you also taken aback by the idea of living so long that you don’t even remember the face or voice of the people you loved? The little twist at the end revealing that Voll doesn’t remember the demon king is defeated is heart-wrenching. It definitely feels like he is at the end of his life, but then there’s the slight twist of him being that way since 80 years ago. Moments before Frieren leaves, did you notice the minor signs of happiness on Voll’s face and tone when he talked about seeing her wife’s dream? Frieren isn’t just good; you might even say not much happens in the story or that the dialogue and the jokes aren’t anything new. But there is something about the little twists, minor signs, simple happenings, and slight nods laid throughout every conversation and sub-story, each implying something usually deeper that, when added up together like this, makes up something special.
@@I_am_doomed The majority are never going to agree on a GOAT anime. People's tastes are varied and there are many shows from different genres. Frieren will be a good candidate in the future, but that's the most you can hope for in a show.
If we're assuming the anime is based on real world timelines, which I think it is, stone age was from around 9,000 BC to 3,000 BC Bronze age from 3,000 to 1,000 BC so Kraft has got to have been active at least 2,000 years before the anime
Keep in mind, even 1000 years later Flamme's name is still widely known. Yet Kraft is so old his name has been forgotten by everyone, including people who have a statue of him in their village.
😮 Ancient Hero. Kraft is way older than Frieren rn?, but damn.. can't we see a pinnacle of his power tho. Thousand Years being a Monk and probably beat out of hundred Demons too.
Frieren knows voll is much older than most dwarves, and while starting to go senile, he has said guarding his wife's old home from demons is what keeps him going. If frieren told him the demon king was gone, he might feel his duty is done, the town is safe, and he can pass on. Like how if one person in an elderly couple is sick, the other always seems to live just long enough to care for their partner, and once that partner passes, they too pass on. It might have been selfish that frieren didn't correct him, so he might still be alive on their return trip.
Voll said it was ridiculous that he was keeping a promise to a dead woman, while Himmel said she'd be happy he kept it. Something to note about it is how we were told early on that Dwarves are very traditional, and based on Eisen, typically do not believe in afterlives. I wonder if, just like Eisen changed his mind because of the Hero's party, Voll did too?
thats basically my reaction while watching this series, "i get everything so wrong" its super unpredictable. one of the few animes thats got a "soul" i suppose. kind of like violet evergarden.
Fark is the official name in this channel. Perhaps Frieren & Kraft don't know about each other because of how far they are geographically & their circles never crossed.
mm... id think what ever heroic deeds kraft did was prolly before frieren was even born then he secluded himself for whatever reason. he did call frieren young elf afterall
I’m enjoying watching you guys experience the story. It’s sad episode 28 was the final. Can’t wait to see your reactions to those episodes. Wish I could support you but I can’t.

Stern is a funny shipname because in german that means Star
i find that perfect
Fark is funnier because it sounds like fart
Nah, Fark is better 😂
and it's pretty funny because no ships can sail without a stern

There's stories of when senile folk suddenly regain some memory or clarity, and it's not a good sign...

Carlie seems to think Sein wants ANY old woman. I'm pretty sure his range is late 30s-50, not 85 lmfao
😂 certainly not 1000.
10:43 since you mentioned Noya being Himmel’s VA, Sein is voiced by Gojo/Kuroo !
Sein doesn't want an old lady... he just wants someone a little older.
me
Seeing this again I think Vol's story about his wife could be why Himmel never confessed to Frieren. He wouldn't want her to be stuck like Vol was.
Yeah you can tell from his look that Vol's story DEFINITELY influenced that decision.
Carlie's "s/he's DEAD" always cracks me up, lol
The season just finished at episode 28 yesterday...
And I think everyone agress that this anime is THE GOAT!
Honestly not sure what I want to watch after that season finale lol
I'd say just watch the manga but then the manga hit you with "Frieren will now enjoy a 1 month break" 🤪
nah
@@MrAidenauswell the majority agrees, so your personal opinion is kinda irrelevant

Given that Frieren probably knows that they aren't going to stay there for a decade, I think we have to assume that she's just trolling Fern.
Stark always gets training from random masters everywhere he goes.
Kraft's statue is made of Stone and not Bronze. Which means whatever he and his partner did predates the Bronze age. HOW OLD IS THIS MAN?

Been waiting for frieren reactions 😊
Season's over...I am sad😢
Voll means full, in this case probably metaphorically like a bottle of memories.

Something to note about it is how we were told early on that Dwarves are very traditional, and based on Eisen, typically do not believe in afterlives. Ange whistle when he laughs always gets me hahahhaha
This animé is just perfect. I'm happy because next episode we will get a new cover by Angelo 😍 Haru
Of course he'd be terrified by birds. He's probably still traumatized by the defeat at the hands... claws... whatever of the Emos. 😂
thats basically my reaction while watching this series, "i get everything so wrong" its super unpredictable. one of the few animes thats got a "soul" i suppose. kind of like violet evergarden.
Ange is wrong 100% of the time. He needs to pull a George Costanza and just go with the opposite of whatever his first instinct is with this show. 😂

Starks harem of strange old men is growing larger.
Frieren goal now is to go to heaven, heaven in german is himmel.
