  • I recently sold a Velocette MAC and almost immediately regretted it. Also I'm waiting for stuff to happen on the K75 build, so what to do in the meantime...
Thanks again to Wintergatan for the music.

Thank you for convincing me never to go anywhere near a wheel build. Comstars FTW!

You will find it easier to place all inners into the rim first then place on the rim with a few threads in each then you can pass the outers through one at a time with the inners all held loosely in place. Here is a post I once put out on F.B. Pay attention to your wheel spoke pattern before disassembly. Set all the spokes in a pile of inner and outers (some have angle differences). Lace the inner spokes first. Thread inward and loop out both the left side and right side of the hub. Figure out if your particular application has all inners in the same direction or crossing. Angle the loose spokes so they are a little tighter to hub (smaller circumference than rim) now lower rim over and set each spoke in the correct hole ensuring angle and count across. Thread nipple on a few threads moving around until all the inner spokes are started. See the left wheel in the photo. Now, one by one. you can feed the outers by feeding across the hub and out. Flip them over the laced inners and set the nipple, moving around until both sides have been completed, shifting the hub as needed so as to not ever need to scratch a rim or bend a spoke. When all spokes are started bring the nipples in equal amounts until all are just shy if having tension. Your offset should be reasonably good and it can now go on the stand to be balanced. Tighten up each a quarter turn at a time until all are snug. Balance as needed until rim spins true and spokes all have a similar ping when tapped. I hope this helps some who have never ventured down this path. If it helps one person, it is worth the post.
