- There's a lot to see in this very short series of clips from around 1980 of the Paulista Railway (FEPASA) in Brazil. These were taken during the transition period from the old Paulista blue paint to the newer "speed" red/orange scheme. First we see a dead V8 electric being hauled by a steeplecab switcher at the shops. The V8's were body clones of the New Haven EP-4 class, but with older fabricated style running gear. Then we board a V8 hauled passenger train passing Campinas enginehouse with more V8's and a Little Joe. Passing thru the countryside, we arrive at Jundiaí where we pass a deadline with a derelict Henschel "Boa Constrictor" 4-10-2, several Baldwin-Westinghouse and GE boxcabs, GE U9B's, the sole Metropolitan Vickers boxcab, and 2 of the 3 Alco PA-2's. Just beyond that line there is an Alco RSC-3 in the shop yard. The final 2 scenes are runby's of a GE shovelnose electric from the 1960's and another V8, both on freight trains.
Here in Brazil we miss these times..we had passenger trains, freighters, and beautiful landscapes ... a pity that many contributed to the abandonment and destruction of our railway history ..
What caused the destruction? (Im not too read up on historic Brazilian politics or Brazilian rail history)

Fabulous, I was just a brat when you took these pics. How things have changed, and not for the better either. In any case the images was taken during the transition from FEPASA blue and italic lettering to FEPASA red ("orange" as you describe it) and Helvetica fonts - what dates the images is the fact that both the V-8's and the Joes still have their balloon pans, rather than the Faiveleys which were installed later. And by the state of the track, still reasonably good. The first "shop" is the Campinas enginehouse; the second is Jundiai Shops, with (as they come in the film) the deadline containing one of the Henschel "Boa Constrictor" 4-10-2s, a B-W C-C boxcab, a PA, a GE 1-C+C-1 boxcab, a GE U9B, another B-W boxcab, the one and only Metropolitan-Vickers 1-C+C-1 motor, yet another B-W loco, a second PA and a second U9B. Over the fence one can see an ALCO RSC-3 with what looks like a GE "Squarey" (B+B boxcab).
Pity you didn't film more of that freight with the shovelnose electric...the first three cars were reefers, images of these cars in service are quite difficult to come by.
I didn't film this, bought it on eBay. Digital scanned, added sound. Thanks for the dead line model rundown.

Quite a bit but electrification ended with privatization.
