Totally right about Hogan in 02. He should have been a special attraction. Austin should have recaptured the strap after becoming face again. Ridiculous booking. Hogan had no business being on top in 2002 other than as an attraction at Wrestlemania and maybe Summerslam….. no wonder Steve walked out.
I agree, but personally, I think Hulk Hogan should have won the title at Backlash, and then have him lose it to Austin or the Undertaker in a triple threat match. The WWE also should have ended the NWO after WrestleMania.
How was it prejudice? About the WWF court case. The judge has no prejudice towards either the wrestling wwf or the wildlife wwf. It was that the wrestling wwf already made an agreement to not use the name and logo in an obvious way or where the letters are clearly seen or something and had broken that agreement. They left themselves open to it and made themselves subservient by making that agreement as it admits that the wildlife fund are the primary WWF. They obviously had the trafemark first and the judge had no choice but to rule in their favour, it had nothing to do with "because it was on england" it is am international organisation. Maybe if Vince gave a donation to the charity once a year or something they may have been content to allow them to share the name. I get the feeling mcmahon didn't really care and half assed fought it. He pribably was happy to vhanfe it tp his precious "entertainment" when someone goes around arrogantly calling themselves entertainment and saying we do it better than anyone else that's when your anything but entertaining! It's up to others to say you are entertaining them and that you are better than other forms of it!
I was hoping to hear regarding Jazz, she sustained a knee injury sometime after Backlash 2002 and before this ppv. Anybody know when or how the injury happened?
I wanted to see Stone Cold and Hogan. I think many fans were waiting to see it. If hogan and taker is the example of what Austin meant by styles clash I'm glad we didn't see it. I hated that choke slam spot but for some reason fans kept posting the clip. Smh
Austin would have steamrolled Hogan in a match, even in 2002. His injuries were catching up with him, but Steve was still a machine. Realistically a match between him a Hogan would have to be squash with Austin winning. Could you imagine Steve selling the Hulk up? Embarrassing. I will say, the crowd woulnt have turned on Steve like they did to Rocky in the Hogan match.
Yeah right that's why Hogan wanted the match but bitch austin didn't and spat the dummy out and threw a hissy fit and went home. If it was the other way around hogan would get dogs abuse. I dont like women beaters for all of hogans faults at least he isn't known for that. If it was just one of his ex wives saying it i dunno but all 3 said he beat them
@@Tasiturne yeah... exactly. That's why they never wrestled each other. Their styles wouldn't mesh. Stone Cold style is high paced and in your face we've all seen it, right.. Hogan's style: slower, traditional old school. Their styles just don't mesh like I said and whoever does the job has to feed a big time comeback and do the job cleanly without any hesitation or controversy. That's why they couldn't do it, on top of that they only had one style and couldn't compromise. Two of the biggest egos in the business, go figure. 🙄
Crowd would have 100% turned on Austin for Hogan. Nobody has sold more tickets in Toronto than Hogan. 61k in 1986, 67k in 1990, and 68k in 2002. That 41k for Austin during the "hottest period" was cute though. The only reason the match didn't happen is because Hogan didn't do a match with him when Austin was a midcarder in WCW. Oh well, after WM18 it was back to the midcard for Austin and back to the main event and the strap for Hogan. 🤣
This was around the time i slowed down watching even though i was watching the ppvs, i stopped watching the shows as much. Conrad you know this is when things started coming out of attitude era, and hulk was old and boring. Even at 11 years old when i seen hulk come back i wasnt excited. He did the same thing over and over and was nowhere as entertaining as stone cold who can do the same thing over and over and it never get old. Unfortunately for hulk it was just like him. Thats pry why ratings started dipping
Sorry but if austin was doing that same routine for 10 years plus it would get old too! It's just becsuse he wen't on a hot 2 year run between 98-2000. I know his rise started in late 96 and through 97 but he wasnt on top yet. Its the equivelent of Hogan getting injured then leaving in 86 or 87 around his Andre feud then coming back a couple of years later for a cup of coffee then bowing out for good
watched it back, the chokeslam wasnt THAT bad, it was just cuz of hogans weight and age taker was being careful, feel like its just another example of meltzer trying to shit on taker, yeah it didnt look great but it looks like taker just got confused more than anything
Judgement day 2002 half and half I would have stone cold steve austin vs ric flair and big show last match and I would have undertaker vs hulk Hogan forth match
Well no shit, Austin was heading the Main Event for the 2nd year in a row and this time he was facing The Rock, ofc they not gon have him lose hahah wtf
@@renegade5161yeah obviously Austin was the man! but there were ways of making Big Show look strong they could have had a run in or something Austin could have still won but I guess a bigger point is I wouldnt have had Austin vs Big Show on Raw especially at that point I would have kept them apart and built Big Show up as an unstoppable monster to build to an eventual PPV main event with Austin at some point
His a prick sad to say considering how much enjoyment ive had listening to him over the years its so sad when you see how some of these people your a fan of can really be
ehh, shouldn't have had UT win. Nobody gave a shit about him at this point. Hogan should've ran w it for another month or so. Drop it in a more meaningful match.
Conrad s talking like Pepsi is some niche product.. I know Coke is higher, but come on. Oh and btw the World Wildlife Fund is a tiny bit more important than wrestling..

Vince was fun to hate. HHH was just annoying and shoved down everybody's throat, beating the entire roster and winning the title countless times to increasingly lower ratings and smaller audiences. Vince was the top heel in the company during the hottest period in the business. HHH was just another heel who happened to be sleeping with the boss's daughter. No comparison.
I knew we couldn’t go a single show without JR saying “Covid”. Now that his boy Joe Biden is in power he’s ready to move on from Covid…that was’t the case when the “Orange Reality TV Game-show Host” were President.
Absolutely love your podcast. Wrestling stories and also some pearls of wisdom from JR now and again.
“I signed him” -JR
True, and??
😂
Had this show on DVD as a kid. Easily watched it 40+ times. Excited for this one.
I was 5 and this was the FIRST PPV (might be SS 2001 but memory is fogged) that I saw
4:35 for the start brother

Actually a damn good episode guys keep up the positive trend. Last 2 weeks have been awesome.
Having no red-ass JR helps. When he's calm, the shows are great.
40th bday today and been a wrestling fan for 35 of those years too
As long as you didn't vote for Biden happy birthday
Happy birthday bro

notice Hogan cracked those beers right on the CRASH in the song, timing, its all timing
Conrad needs to go ahead and book Jimbo VS Saban at Starrcast V this summer lol
The Edge DDT was called the “Edgecution”…not the “Education”.
Dean Douglas's would have been The Education lol
I thought it was the downard spiral? Or maybe that was 1998-1999
This was my first show in person!!
At 1:47:50, I love it when JR says Paul Heyman physically makes Jim Cornette look like Kurt Angle.

No Paul this week so the shows back to being an awesome listen… Hopefully it stays that way for a while
First 20 minutes is Conrad promoting his own shit. Do yourself a favour and skip to 20 mins
He is unbelievable Conman Thompson
Truly great stuff. Love watching these old ppv's and then listening to JR
I always wondered why the WWF didn't revert back to WWWF instead of WWE. Seems easier, but maybe too similar. 🤔
Jason Walters+ Totally agree with you on the WWWF bit. My thinking exactly.
Probably because it's a mouthful.

They dropped the ball with Big Show almost immediately by having him lose to Austin on the March 22nd ,1999 go home Raw for WrestleMania XV
