    The comparison is incomplete at best. The R1T and the HEV were designed for outdoor adventure, but the CT was designed for durability and performance. Thus the weight of each metric varies depending on the target use. So they count the SS panels as a disadvantage!! I would also add charging experience (speed, availability, and straightforwardness) and software quality (snappyness, robustness, and upgradeability).

      which performance metric does Cybertruck beat the Rivian? a half second 0-60 isn't a real world performance impact. When you actually drive the two, you will realize the Rivian's active suspension system is FAR more nimble and capable than the super stiff Cybertruck that lacks any real articulation.

    They don't really complete and have their own merits. As far as their complaints, i didn't hear them from ACID performance car drivers like Jason Camisa, Matt Watson, or Carlos Lagos. I started reading MT back in the late 80s and even collected them. They have definitely become sponsored biased hack media. Pretty sure that's why Carlos left. There is no way the CT should've been in 3rd place and outside of waiting on the software updates this is the first I'd heard of it FEELING unfinished as even sitting in it it feels like nothing else comparatively. It's its own segment, so how could that FEEL incomplete??

  • @vr4042
    @vr4042 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    At this time, I would have to say the Rivian is in first. One, it does 'currently cost less and 2) CT software is not complete for towing, off road, turning, FSD. In a year, when the software is refined and active, I think the story will be switched. And when the CT eventually sells for what it should, then there will be no doubt. The one thing MT got correct is that the CT is not yet finished, Which, given how good it is now, does not bode well for it's competitors.

    • @paulbram2

    Since I have never test-driven any of these and only seen them from the outside, any opinion I could offer would have to be provisional. That said, it seems to me that the Hummer is what the Cybertruck is accused of being-a novelty gimmick to draw attention. The Rivian R1T is the most straightforward, taking advantage of the electric platform while maintaining practicality. The Cybertruck intended to be that, but, being a Tesla, is trying to do that while also being a test bed for newly emerging technologies, wedging it between daily driver and concept car. Naturally, I am drawn to the Cybertruck first, but I am biased, being a Tesla investor and someone who is still alive because of the Model S engineering. (Long story.) I would give the R1T provisional second, as it is just a little too familiar, but that’s good, because most people want to stick with what they know; going electric is already pushing people in spite of the clear superiority of the technology long term. The Hummer is a nice try, but it’s GM’s way of putting on a show while still selling mostly gas-powered boxes.

  • @larzlarz1140

    The hummer EV getting an extra 80 miles of real work range makes it a win. I am a Tesla fan and a Tesla owner, but that massive boost in range makes the Hummer a clear choice over the cybertruck. Elon claimed 500 miles of range. Where is it? Even with a battery taking up half of your pickup bed, it still doesn’t have 500 miles of range.

  • @bluetoad2668
    @bluetoad2668 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That curb weight of the Hummer isn't good for off road. The other two would of course be better if lighter. Not many people really use trucks for proper off road though anyhow - and in proper off road you have winches front and rear because you expect to get stuck no matter what you're driving.

    The SS body is far superior to aluminum and regular steel. The gorilla glass is the best of all and the cybertruck is the most capable of the trucks. As for function over form the Tesla is the best of those tested. Missing from this lineup is the Silverado EV 3 or 4WT and the F150 lightening. The worst is the Hummer EV, though as a very tall and large man I do like its interior size. I'm still awaiting the Ramcharger. I also need a six seater truck which I currently have in my F150 XLT, this gives the F series a n advantage over the others.

    Unfortunately, most of the media articles (former car magazines) are badly biased by advertisers. So they hunt around for (weak) reasons to justify supporting the companies who give them the most money. Attacking the styling is a poor judgement for overall ranking. The Cybertruck's styling is polarizing, but it is obvious if you are going to like or hate it. It reminds me of their review of the Tesla Model S Plaid, where they spent the most time complaining about the (optional) steering yolk. And calling the Plaid's unworldly performance a One Trick Pony. Sometimes they try to hide their bias, and sometimes they don't. Subsequently, my opinion of their opinions has diminished in recent years.

    Don't think Cybertruck can be judged yet because there is so much new and never before seen in any vehicle let alone pure play BEV. The hard metal sides to the Cybertruck makes Tesla the clear winning in building a truck that those who actually use trucks for work will want. Absolutely agree how Tesla will improve upon Cybertruck going forward including availability will matter greatly but the basics for a vastly superior Truck to any other on the market....including sales which is where this matters...is there so yes, Tesla the clear winner. Looking forward to the GM Silverado EV formal launch tho.

    It really doesn’t matter what MT or anyone else thinks about the Cybertruck. Really, anyone who doesn’t like it ( or likes Teslas) will opt for the few options available , Rivian , Hummer (maybe?) , Silverado E or Lightning. The rest is still 2 million reservations waiting, Cybertruck (like all Teslas) certainly are not for everyone, but definitely for 2 + million people.

    I'd give the Rivian a #1, CT #2, and Hummer #10 (Fine, #3)
    The Rivian is just a more complete, polished product at this point. The CT has some teething issues and it's "radical" nature shouldn't really be point scoring on a general ranking (that's for individuals to bias their preferences). IF a $60k version comes out, with the teething issues resolved, it's possibly a different situation.

Certainly you wouldn't choose Tesla for build quality. Give me an objective reason why? I do agree however that the Hummer should be 3rd. My conclusion after watching many many cybertruck reviews. It's really much of a muchness between the real ev trucks. Ford. Rivian. Tesla. As a driver it's really down to personal choice. But the tesla has some novel. New. Way of the future teck in it namely and mainly 48v architecture and steer by wire. Neither of which really matter to the user but will in time bring down cost. Thecteardowns by Munro and the other guys. Cybertrucknis clearly rushed to market and very much a mk1 with manufacturing updates required
