Now do it while running a marathon on stage like Steve does. That dude runs more on stage than anyone I've ever seen in concert. I pulled a hamstring just watching him.

Be sure I just do the same on stage ;) And between us, music and sport are two different things! Olympic games take place every four years and not @ Iron Maiden concerts. DG
Relax on the comments. These are his choice. All bassists complaining about certain songs not being on here, post your videos of you playing them. Great job man.
Iron Maiden was the first band I really got into. At 53 years old I finally understand that Steve Harris is why I like their music. Steve plays lead bass guitar.
Steve is never mentioned in any bass player best of lists. That I’ve seen. He so kickass though, and have never lost any of his energy over the years. Great job by the way, u sound awesome!
Nice job! I could listen to Maiden's bass and drums only all day long. "To Tame a Land" was Harris' favorite and certainly one of the most difficult of his bass lines. Up the Irons! *

Cheers mate, I'll soon publish "Where Eagles Dare" that I recorded with a friend of mine. It's almost done and will be on in a few day. Make sure to subscribe and hit the bell. DG
When learning these songs on bass, instead of reading tabs, I do my best to either learn by ear, or when I‘m stumped I‘ll watch a cover, like your many excellent ones here on TH-cam, and just watch how you play it with your fingers. It‘s a lot of fun, thank you for sharing!
Bro, you're one of my inspirations to actually play bass, and now a few years later I can play Flight Of Icarus and Powerslave by myself!!! Thank you ao much, your playing is amazing!.

Hey, I'm glad to read your progress and proud to have been of help. Take care and keep the good job ;)
Steve Harris is a pure badass on the bass. Him and Nikko are locked together tighter than two coats of paint. Most of the lyrics belong to Steve as well. Whenever I hear people talk about the best bassist of metal, Steve is one of those guys who rarely gets mentioned. He should. One of the top five ever in metal/rock. Maybe the top 20 of all time. Just one hit after another.
Harris' most beautiful bass lines are on Somewhere in Time. The mid section of Sea of Madness, Stranger in a Strange Land and the harmony section of Deja Vu are simply gorgeous to listen too.
@@georgeb9285 that's electric guitar... I was singling out the bass lines. Yes, Harris' lines in the powerslave solos are nice but there is a magical feel on Somewhere in Time that no other album of theirs has.... Every musical aspect of that album is phenomenal
@@norms3913 very much so.... he has some great aggressive stuff. I have always been blown away by his more harmonic lines like the mid section of Charlotte the Harlot, Sea of Madness and so on.....
This is one of the things that made Iron Maiden stand out (and inspired the world) I used to say back in the day - Steve is playing solo on every track & indeed he is. Now I've seen it & and its truly amazing 👍🏼 Up the Irons 🤘🏻
He's regularly put down as the best metal bassist of all time. Cliff Burton and Geezer Butler are the only ones to occasionally take the title over him. John Myung is far better technically, but less influential in metal overall (late in the game and less universal). Dave Ellefson also gives him a run for his money, though the influence thing really comes into play again.
SleightlyHandy Almost every poll I've ever read lists either Geddy Lee or Billy Sheehan as the best hard rock/metal bassist. Don't get me wrong. I think Steve is great. Just not as well thought of as he should be.
A legend among bassists, an original member of the Iron Maiden franchise, teaming with musicians to create deft chords, sweeping transitions, transcendent heavy metal/hard rock sound that galvanizes the senses and resonates with multi-generational fans. I can't get enough feed more riffs. Up the Irons.
This is exactly what all these fucktards leaving arsewipe comments don't get, they obviously haven't been around long enough to understand that Maiden are one of the most influential bands of all time & set the standard for all others, it's still mind blowing to this day
Listening to SH's isolated tracks, your playing is actually even more precise than what's on the record. Wow.

Hey Pat. Thanks. I actually noticed the fact when I recorded my own. But you know, in those days and even nowadays, some bands do sound great together, a kind of alchemy sets out then, even though each of them sounds average or poor... and the band prevails over its individual member, doesn't it? I'm glad you enjoy my playing. DG
@ Absolutely. No knock at all on Steve Harris' playing. He's a great composer and performer and the reason why I picked up the bass. It's a testament to their musical prowess and chemistry as a band. But I also can't help but recognize your precision. As an aside, listening to SH's isolated tracks also comforts me a little that I wasn't able to play every single note as clean sounding as it did in the recorded mix. Thanks!
The conversation going on between the bass and the drums is what makes this lines really shine in my opinion. Steve is absolutely brilliant and your work is amazing Didier! Cheers from Brazil!
He was my idol and inspiration when I first started playing bass 15 years ago. I took so much of my style and technique from his playing. What an absolute GUN of a bass player!
