  • On the morning of November 30, 2018, the morning show crew was winding down from the newscast. Then, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit at 8:29 a.m. Everyone evacuated the building until it was safe to go back in and then coverage began.
Channel 11 carried continuous coverage online and on Channel 11 throughout the day giving critical information on road damage, schools and on aftershocks.

My cousin, High School Principal Brian Mitchell, had the students from the damaged Jr. High School next door, in his High School for about a year until their building was replaced. It was quite an experience for him and his staff.

That first bit when the quake starts was intense, you could see and hear the building just fall apart

That’s not the building. That’s the earthquake. It sounded like a train. The sound really messed people up for a long time afterwards. You would hear a gust of wind and just brace for impact. A lot of people had PTSD after this.

I live in southern California and I've felt a lot of earthquakes in my life . I'm so ready to move some state where the ground does not move under my feet .

this was the biggest many alaskans have felt.. it was pretty traumatizing.. waking up to your entire house shaking that bad.. not fun.. ive lived here my whole life and ive NEVER felt anything so harsh.. our home was shaking so bad i couldnt get out of bed. once i did get out of bed i couldnt find my son, my husband got up with him for school that morning and let me sleep in. i had no clue what time it was.. found out he was outside alone when it hit.. hes 9.. the shaking its self i guess wasnt as tramatic as just the not knowing where my husband and son were and running around in the dark trying to find them. thankfully they were/are okay... slight damage to the house but nothing major.. our garage sunk about 2-3 inches... as of a few days ago they said we have had over 5000 aftershocks since the 30th.. its crazy up here lol.. sorry im rambling now haha

Wisconsin. I've been here most of my life with the exception of a few years and have never experienced an earthquake at all. You'd have to deal with some pretty intensely cold winters, though. Better than a destructive earthquake!

@@BreannaMae its a helpless feeling when the ground starts moving.

@@jimapple5448 Can't even imagine what that feeling is like. I think the last major earthquake Wisconsin had was a few centuries ago. If there were any since then, they probably weren't felt by anyone because they were never reported. Needless to say, the ground is pretty stable here.
