The only change that I absolutely hate is the Weapon Tokens. I do not want to buy my Weapons, I do not want to grind for a Token, I want to hunt Monsters and then use their Materials to CRAFT my Weapons. As has been the way in Monster Hunting Games since the dawn of fucking time. I'm so tired of Devs of newer Monster Hunting Games thinking the Material Crafting System is bad or grindy like YEAH IT'S GRINDY THAT'S THE POINT, YOU AIM FOR A SPECIFIC MATERIAL !!! YOU GO FOR A SPECIFIC MONSTER AND HAVE FUN LEARNING IT'S PATTERNS TO OBLITERATE IT FASTER AND FASTER IN SEARCH OF THE MATERIAL YOU'RE LOOKING FOR !!!!!! IT'S NOT A BAD THING !!!!!!! I could care less about the Canister Update like yeah sure you guys need money whatever I already have plenty of Cosmetics and so long as it's Just Cosmetic it's not great but it's fine and ignorable. But god dammit don't take away part of what gives Monster Hunting Games an Identity it's literally a Core Part of the Gameplay of these types of Games. We don't need little Tokens or whatever.
I played the game at the very beginning, when shrowd still hat his broken hitbox. I can still remember how excited and god darn relieved I was, when I finally got the tail part for the hunger...

Fair point. I started in the fire season for the war armor. Still wear it, even though its not rare anymore. However can they change exotics to not be single hit wise. There is at least 3 exotics I cant get unless im like reforge 50 which is never gonna happen.
Been aimlessly grinding and trying out random builds for the last few months while waiting, as someone who’s been playing since 2019 I hope they knock it out the park with this update and it makes the game feel fresh and new again
as a f2p removing the reward cache and changing the hunter pass to be a gacha is the worst thing ever RIP cosmetic and i hope they dont kill the game by their greed since f2p players will not grind as much since nothing gained (yes grinding weekly challenges to buy cosmetics from the reward cache was the only thing we log in for)

All right so you miiiight have missed a bit on your break, this might be a bit long list 😅 - The new weapon system not only allows us to level/upgrade them to level 60 but now there is ONLY those weapons you saw. - All behemoth weapons are being REMOVED from the game and these new weapons count as separate from the new exotics so you do now own them. - All of your owned weapons will now be turned into transmogs. - Lanterns are being removed and are purely cosmetic and canonically hold your omnicell. - The Neutral Element is being removed, all Neutral Behemoths are now other elements. - The majority of lesser behemoths are being removed. - All skills now work like Old MH and require a certain amount of points to activate and all cells are now +1 only. - Weapon swapping has unique attacks. - There is also a crown for reforging 1 of each weapon. - The Slayer's Path is being redone and it's not concrete how much of our progression will carry over. - The new Legend Variant behemoths are unique PATROLS that act sort of as Rare Species from MH and will be used for later levels of weapon perk crafting. - Oh yeah all behemoth parts are being used to craft perks on the new weapons. - There is a set of repeaters only available on the Premium Battle Pass and *may* come to the regular weapon unlocks in the future. Essentially it's a paid weapon. - The pack caller skill now summons friendly raptors that assist you in combat. The new repeaters double down on this and let you summon MORE. - Yes pets are coming and have actually been mostly ironed out. - Bow has pretty much been scrapped for now. - Some of the new weapons use old movesets, like the Hunger uses the Old Sword moveset. - The Reward Cache is being done away with. - Individual Trials Leaderboards are being removed so the titles are now a limited commodity. - Exotic Helmets are being removed. There may be some stuff I forgot but that's most of the major stuff, I'll repeat this on Discord just in case you want to ruminate on it for a bit.

This is so sad…making cells consumables is horrific. Add to that we have to scrap the system of our armor it took so long just to grind them back up to max. now we gotta start over?! And great fauna was already lame but now we NEEED to spend time fighting these thing for crafting mats. I was honestly happy to come back to dauntless but this is turning me off something fierce.

As a relatively new player, I'm excited to see where this update takes the game. Some changes to the 'grind vs pay' aspect is worrisome, but we'll have to see when it drops officially. Weapon Tokens are one thing. But making cells consumable with armor leveling to 20 means even more grinding; especially if you intend on having multiple builds. I just hope they find a good balance with the 'grind to reward'.
So far all this and comments are telling me is ive wasted hundreds of hours in the past and its all being changed into transmogs and refarm all equipment for pay to win style

To be honest, I expected Dauntless: Awakening to be a fresh reboot that would appeal to new players, but I'm actually just seeing more and more cash grabs and changes for experienced players. Is the game doing so well? Because I don't see why you should choose Dauntless over Monster Hunter, which is getting cheaper and cheaper.
This all sounds horrible. This game was already circling the drain. Consumable cellls and gacha style loot boxes is absolutely the last nail in the coffin. The new monster hunter drops in February, so this is a wrap for Dauntless.

I’m tracking from the article I read (not this one but in the video one from earlier) that all the progress you earned will be transferred over in the form of rewards and progression for the new update.
They're literally taking content away and calling it an update, there is nothing hype about this, artificially inflated grind, loot boxes, and removal of most of the weapons in the game in favor of a handful that are t even crafted with monster parts removing a core mechanic of not just this game but literally every boss hunting game that there is, dogshit is dogshit, don't get hyped about dogshit.
As a pursit and elitist gamer that was really good at the game... no cheese builds, no bs... just good tanky builds on axe or pike and skill, I don't care for any of theae updates. I’m a big fan of the idea of Dauntless getting a nice big update, I am just a bit unsure about some of the changes they’re making - in particular, this update feels much less f2p friendly, and I’m a bit unsure of the gacha mechanics. I’m very much a gacha player, but I’m less sure about a non-gacha game turning into one - it isn’t what I signed up for when I decided to play this game, and it honestly feels kind of annoying.
The game's probably gonna get boring fast without reforging 😂 that was pretty much the only thing that kept me playing after maxing out each weapon and whatnot

Builds will be weapon/ armor focussed, less foxus on cells so this doesnr matter

There are 2 crowns afaik: one for 1 reforge on all weapons, and one for 10 reforges

To be honest , they took way to long the hype about the game is dead , at least for me and the thing is ... when the update will release , either Monster hunter wilds will soon release or be out already and that's not a good news for dauntless at all sadly

You lose all of your weapons save for exotics and event weapons like the silver sword and golden claws. Old weapons are now transmogs

I’m tracking from the article I read (not this one but in the video one from earlier) that all the progress you earned will be transferred over in the form of rewards and progression for the new update.

They're literally taking content away and calling it an update, there is nothing hype about this, artificially inflated grind, loot boxes, and removal of most of the weapons in the game in favor of a handful that are t even crafted with monster parts removing a core mechanic of not just this game but literally every boss hunting game that there is, dogshit is dogshit, don't get hyped about dogshit.
As a pursit and elitist gamer that was really good at the game... no cheese builds, no bs... just good tanky builds on axe or pike and skill, I don't care for any of theae updates. I think it's going to kill the game. SpartanTheory, I'm sure some of you saw me or got carried in heroics by me and the gf.

I’m a big fan of the idea of Dauntless getting a nice big update, I am just a bit unsure about some of the changes they’re making - in particular, this update feels much less f2p friendly, and I’m a bit unsure of the gacha mechanics. I’m very much a gacha player, but I’m less sure about a non-gacha game turning into one - it isn’t what I signed up for when I decided to play this game, and it honestly feels kind of annoying.

That cell change is utter garbage. The biggest enjoyment I get from this game is from experimenting with meme builds. They are 100% killing that off so I imagine after the update I wont really ever play again. I should have read the update before I got 3 more loadout slots for goofy builds
