The guy with the irresponsible roommate could’ve just requested a room change and explained that his roommate had habits that endangered both their safety. It’s not that he’s a “softie”, he’s just fearful of confrontation and he needs to break out of that since he now has a wife he needs to protect.

I always find it ironic that despite living in an era of equality (so it seems). That a man is still expected to "protect" a woman he gets into a relationship like it is insurance. What happened to the terms "strong independent woman"/whatever a man can do a woman can too if not better (I would love this used more when it comes to accepting responsibilities). Are they hard & fast rules or only used in context? Because sounds like requests for entitlement instead of equality because if not men can unlock privileges we previously never had too
