    Great video . But most experienced sparks just unplug the kettle. 32years experience and every time I get calls for RCD faults it's the kettle. I'm yet to find another fault before I retire. But great instruction to test 👍

      The video was more about the ramp test as the channel hadn’t got a video on that subject 👍🏻. Thanks for watching and commenting. Gaz

    Nicely explained, one of the biggest problems is three or four off those horrible four gang extension leads with all and sundry plugged into them, I have even seen people plug an extension into an extension and Person wonders why it goes bang.
    Great video Markus as always👍👍👍❤️

    great video, 1st thing i do even before i get the meter out is check the tightness of all connections in the board. im always amazed how lose the terminals are. do more videos please.

    Once you know the rcd is ok could you not turn on the mcb,s one by one and see which one lowers the ramp test reading and put that circuit on single pole rcbo and take it off the rcd to avoid nuisance tripping ??

    Great video. Learner Question please :If you have isolated MCBs/RCBOs do you still have to physically switch OFF loads at the socket outlet and remove plug(s). Thank you. Loving these 5 min videos.

      No the loads were removed by switching off the MCBs in this video 👍🏻. Thanks for commenting and watching

    jus a curious observation.... shouldnt we be ramp test with the circuits on with all loads connected AS WELL... ie stand by mood....in order to detect if there is any DC leakage taking place

    What is the minimum mA an rcd can be? Can someone quote reg also if they know thanks

    Is it not advisable in the absence of an earth leakage clamp metre, to test the RCD/RCBO in complete isolation as well as under load to assess the true earth leakage? The circuits leak as well as appliances. I have seen a ramp of 18 ma without a thing plugged in but remove loads and neutral it hits a good 22ma.

    Get tenant to plug the lot in at once,an clamp the tails then switch off one at a time,this will give you the information your looking for👍 the ramp test is telling you very little as shown here, youv now got to put the board cover back on and still none the wiser as to whats tripping the rcd

    • @michaels8336
      @michaels8336 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Surely the ramp test is checking the RCD is not weak in regards to tripping at a lower than usable milliamps?

      Does it ? What if it was 15ma then what did that prove

      @@ericthekingthekingtheking4842 Surely that would indicate a faulty RCD if it trips at only 15mA? Given the length of time that seemed to take, it seems like a worthy test to me - if you're in the board anyway.
      Given various devices like washing machines that may only trip part way through a cycle - and maybe only on a certain program, it seems to me to be quite valuable to say the RCD tested ok, as did the wiring.

    Did you ever get to the bottom of why it was tripping?

  • @Dog-whisperer7494
    @Dog-whisperer7494 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Isn’t the load side of the RCD the top were the circuit conductors are connected, the bottom is the feed or the supply side? Or does it depend on on the type of CU the RCD is fitted to .Same as a simple pendant light the feed in the 0.75mm flex to the lamp is the load , hence the term all loads removed.
    But who am I to argue i’am just a grumpy humble spark who’s opinion means nothing.

      Top is load for rcbo , bottom is load for rcd grumpy
