10:00 YES! You got it, in Epica's lyrics the growl, Simone and the choir in (most) of their songs represent different perspectives on the subject of the song. Super astute observation, most reactors never get that! I hit subscribe and notify the moment you said it. I suggest "Epica - Chasing The Dragon live at Retrospect" because its a fantastic symphonic piece as well as a fantastic metal ballad, Mark uses the growls briefly for storytelling and Simone is an angel incarnated in the flesh, like always. Oh, and there's aerial acrobats hanging in silk drapes from the ceiling:)
Fantastic reaction! Love your analysis of the lyrics. Many of their songs delve into philosophical and psychological ideas. Not surprising given that Mark has a degree in Psychology. One of the things I love about Epica is their use of choirs. In this song the use two different ones. The first one was an adult choir that was a backing track and then the children's choir that came in after that piano/Simone interlude. Fun fact, the keyboardist's daughter is one of the child choir members here. When they performed this song during their 20th anniversary concert they had the kids come out on stage which was super cool and such an amazing memory for those kids. They also do a gorgeous acapella version of Rivers in Omega Alive where the keyboardist's wife is one of the singers backing Simone. That song is followed by one of my current top 5 Epica songs, Once Upon a Nightmare. Inspired by the Germanic fairytale of the Erlking or Alder King who lingers in the woods at night stalking children who stay to long and kills them with a single touch. The Omega Alive version has a gorgeous piano and guitar intro and as usual Simone's vocals are stunning. th-cam.com/video/oseRJV0iEJs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3fno5BG181UOPXxH. I would also encourage you on your own to go watch the music video for Skelton Key. I love both versions and of course the imagery in the music video fits perfectly with the lyrics so it is a treat not to be missed.
Omega Alive was their 2021 virtual concert , recorded over 5 days, and streamed online together, when they couldn't tour due to restrictions. An intro and 14 full songs, their first time playing songs from the Omega album. This was the 2nd full song in the concert and the album, lyrics by Simone, music by bassist Rob van der Loo. I would think that the fashion and makeup elements are something that Simone keeps in mind. She has her own website, a beauty and lifestyle blog, called Smoonstyle.
Thank you, Jenna, for making the effort wanting to explain the meaning of "The Skeleton Key". Having watched the song now, I think I will go along with your view,...like someone having the desire to want to open up, to lighten up the burden of whatever darkness one carries within, but where the reference to the light sort of signals objects of relief and of something lighter that could in effect be the "key". Whichever the final analysis, I find this a great reaction to a great band.
Hi Jenna, I think you will enjoy this song, it has a very cool middle eastern feel, this is from a show last year in Amsterdam EPICA - Code of Life (Live At The AFAS Live)
When you dig into all of their lyrics, you'll find that the messages are overwhelmingly positive, even dealing with very serious topics the lyrics will be about overcoming the thing rather than the thing itself
I guessed you would like this and elaborate on the lyrics - pretty much spot on! I’ve only heard it a couple of times so not all that familiar with it but I do like it! Yeah Simone…….. what’s not to like, she’s amazing! Nice follow up could be Chasing the Dragon, again with Mark growling bits and Simone as an Angel - nice!
Yes, way too long away from Epica!! Tbh you could pick anything from this concert as it was just stunning from start to finish. Hope to see more before too long.
If you haven't seen it already, you may want to go back to 'Cry For The Moon', Epica's first song. Just to see how far they've come, and how good they were from the start.
Thanks Jenna ! I Would so much love to have your actor's opinion about Until Eternity from Blackbriar: very cinematic, but also excellent symphonic female fronted metal music❤ And Zora's voice 😍 And the lyrics ❤
Love discovering new music through this channel! I love the interpretation and pointing out things in the songs I wouldn't have noticed. I can't think of any other interpretation that would fit especially about the skeleton key. Good stuff
What is a skeleton key? Skeleton key - Wikipedia A skeleton key (also known as a passkey) is a type of master key in which the serrated edge has been removed in such a way that it can open numerous locks, most commonly the warded lock. The term derives from the fact that the key has been reduced to its essential parts.
Next Epica please Sirens of blood and water 🔥💜🎧💜🔥 Also Sabaton 82nd All the Way Back to back with Amaranthe cover ... I think you gonna enjoy 😜🎼🎶 Thanks for reaction 🙏

Thanks for reacting to my favorite band. 🫶🤘
Seen them 5 times can’t believe they might ever tour America cause they have been to México 2 times and south America 2 times sad😢
@@2112666123 You can blame the music industry in the US for that, all they plug is shitty music.

Sweet reaction! The child within us...our skeleton key! Welcome back! Greetings from Greece!
Yes - great version to pick! The children's orchestra at the end is the icing on the cake.
Some of Epica’s most poetic lyrics in my view, love this song. Great reaction and, I think, spot on with your lyric meaning.
Epica draws you in and never lets go. Great music writing and fantastic performance. Her voice IS a Siren's.
The BEST symphonic metal band of nowadays! The quality stay the same since 2003. Love them so much.

How proud will the parents be of those children. To sing together with such a fantastic band.

This is one of my favorite Epica songs, for sure! Great interpretation.

Curious how music is "like music to my..."?
🐕
3 minutes in, I'm thinking you're trying to think of 'harsh vocals' that offset the 'clean/angelic vocals'.
Please do react to Gigi de Lana and Darryl Ong I Finally found someone Latest cover
You look a lot like someone but I can't think of who lol
