First truck I was assigned was an old fld with no Jake in 1994, been driving about 2 months, going down grapevine with heavy load had really smokey brakes by the time I was down...
Volvo truck does have 10 flat tires on its cab and the fire will burn the tires to the bare rims. 😢. Also the cab is nothing left but the skeleton remains when the saddle fuel tanks does explode with diesel fuel.
Guys Good filming but you thought you felt the heat, but no way did you feel it!!! as the wind was blowing away from you. But hey ho you are human Cheers

I've driven identical trucks like that down Cabbage, the Grape Vine, 70 east bound into Denver, Eisenhower and 7th gear and working the jake worked for me but so may times I've had drivers pass me at the crest and I'd see them hitting the brakes for several hundred feet. Apparently they're in such a hurry that they use 10th going down.

This is why have the fire extinguisher by the driver's seat, not in a side cabinet. Sometimes you only have seconds to control a small fire before it gets out of control. This could also have been caused by failed bearings.
He prevents the fire to spread. He doesn’t have breathing apparatus so he can’t get too close. Prolly a second hose and properly geared operator arrived later.
Maybe the trucker added extra mods, something being flammable, it had a leak, and maybe the brakes sparked because they're bad, and ignited the flammable material. Just a guess
@@SimonWoodburyForget it will if you ride your brakes on down hill GRADE. Instead of using Air brakes and start out in the proper gear. Should of never gotten his class As.

The 10 between Tucson and Pheonix and heading towards NM is prone to getting bad dust storms. My dad's seen burnt-out hulks of tractor-trailers on the ten. When I was a kid I was on the ten with my mom and sibling and saw a flipped Prime truck on the opposite lane, and an ambulance slowly leaving the scene... lights flashing, sirens off. I was with my dad one summer, in I think CO and there was a boneyard near the truck stop (or was it a stop) we were at. Two tractors, obviously from the same outfit were there and both had one side of the cab squashed. One, in particular, grabbed my attention, it was obvious the driver did not survive the incident. The other was damaged, however, the driver would have been ok, though if there was a passenger, said would have died.

I ALWAYS thought the semi brakes were asbestos and would never, ever catch fire. Did they stop using asbestos?
since the late '70s.
Asbestos has been illegal to use for years.

Obviously an underfunded fire department. I mean basically a red SUV with a 100 gal tank. No foam. Blowing the diesel fuel around.
The guy recording said he heard a sonic boom explosion 💥! Nonsense it were the tires 🛞 popping
so a sonic boom sounds like a tire busting???

Use your gears and exhaust brake. This is why you're supposed to pick a lower gear before starting a down grade.
