Picked one up off CG couple weeks ago. Needed regulation and the smallest of chips in the crystal fixed (gotta love super glue - can't even see it now). No box/papers, but I bought it to wear not sell. Got it for the outrageous sum of $240 CAD. Absolutely love it on a Milanese - thanks for that episode. Think I might have done OK with that.... Thoughts? 😀
Thanks for reminding me to wear mine today! I'm so happy I got one for a reasonable price. It's actually my favourite watch in my collection, even though I don't wear it as often any more. I just bought 2 hours ago Seiko Presage ssa405j1 coctail time blue moon open heart with blue alligator leather strap from my local jeweler. They asked 500 euros for it, but i got it for 370 euros! Love this watch so much, happy day.
If you are keen on 6R15 and wanting a nice watch with cherry on the top ( saphhire ) instead of hardlex, you have to check SARB035/033 . Still on amazon Japan for very reasonable pricing.
For me the same argument goes for rolex watches, they were expensive, then very expensive, and nowadays its really bad value. Id rather buy a Grand Seiko than a rolex nowadays; Grand Seiko has really unique and interesting watches. I still like some classic rolex models but would pay only 1/3 or 1/4 the current prices, otherwise money is better spent elsewhere.
YS . True and people just seem to look over the good value watches Rolex has. Don't get me wrong most modern Rolex is usually really expensive but at the end of they day they are mainly investment pieces and they actually have some really good value watches around the $10,000 mark. I can see where many of the comments against Rolex come from but they just feel ignorant because they have excellent value watches on the market bellow 5k

Sarb watches from Seiko are normally good quality watches, that said... I bought a month ago the srpa27k1 which has the same movement as the Presage for the half of the price. Beautiful dial, good movement and price, what do you want more?
Had purchase a Sarb017 & 035, 6r15 movements before Seiko discontinued the lines. Was looking at the original generation Cocktail but didn't jump. Regrets, but thats the watch game.
Some of the resale prices for Seiko watches are absurd, like the prices of 7s26 monsters and limited edition prospex line watches. I wanted a dawn grey samurai but not at the price the scalpers want me to pay for it.

Good call Jory. I wouldn't even pay 400 for it, but that's because I already own a Visodate and a champagne Khaki King that I wear as a dress watch. Both well under those ridiculous prices, and the itch is well scratched already. A Bambino would have done the trick as well, or, even better, a nice Frederique Constant. Coming from a dude who works in a suit every day and mostly sports dressy chronos and divers with it, but that's besides the point (except that you don't really need a dressy watch anyway) ;-)
It's not worth $750, but it was great at $400. Has hardlex crystal and cheap stuff strap. One can get a better dress watch from Tissot, Hamilton and others, even around $400. So that's a reasonable premium for the exceptional dial. The presage version of the 065 is a bit tasteless. Too big Seiko fonts, too big crown, presage branding, plastic spacer. On the flip side it's a bit thinner and cheaper, but still it's inexplicable what Seiko did there.

I just wish the SARB065 had come with a sapphire crystal. I scratched mine within 2 months of owning it. I'd gotten too used to indestructible sapphire crystals.

The worst price gougers are unfortunately, mostly in Japan. I have seen japanese sellers completely SUPREME pricing with all kinds of products, including watches.

The SRPB43 is the truest of the new models to the original cocktail time. However, I REALLY like the models with the power reserve indicators, like the SSA343 (or the other power reserve models in Jory's comparison video). They are the only power reserve indicators I've seen that I like; they are very well integrated into the watch.
@ekim andersom eh.. if I wanted a quartz I'd just get a g shock. In fact, I have several and they're all fantastic. When it comes to a nice, classy dress watch though, I want that smooth sweeping second hand.
@@derekwalter4238 . Some quartz movements are objectively better some even more than mechanical. Like the bulova moon watch or there whole line of ultra high frequency watches
Its all down to personal choice, just today i have paid $560 for a mint 65. I would not have paid $1000 and more for one and indeed could have bought a new Presage cocktail much cheaper but i wanted the purer 65. If people are willing to pay the high $1000 plus plus prices you cant blame the vendors for selling them. I"m sure if you still have your 65 and try to sell it you would try to get as much as you can for it ??

i do have a Blue Moon cocktail which i bought before the craziness, it came with a nice metal bracelet but i prefer it on a nice leather strap

Here in Pakistan I know a. Dealer who was selling it for around 500- 600 dollars some used examples for around 450 doesn't seem too bad now

The original 065 is awesome. I don't like the newer Presage version. Price should stay under $1000 anyway.
It's a cheaper watch so should be less than $400.
In europe most of them go around 450 euro. A simple google search on the schopping tag showed me 18 results on the first page around 450.
