Anton Meyer-class, dignity, professionlism, integrity,wisdom,dedication.....best thing in H.C. When he left, it went downhill fast. Brilliant George Irving, H.C. needs you!!
"Well it makes sense if you believe that performance tables are more important than trying to save the lives of desperate people. My death rates will always look bad, because patients come to me who are so ill that no-one else will touch them. They know that I will go the extra mile if I can give them the chance of life. So where will these patients go, when all surgeons are afraid to take a risk - because failure would look bad on their performance indicator?" An important social commentary on the targets-based approach which was introduced during that period, and a reminder that not everything can be captured on a spreadsheet.
Omg I remember Alex (Jeremy Sheffield) and Alastair Taylor and Dennis Lawson I fancied them all lol 🤩🤩 I remember all the early series of Holby. What a great cast
it's not even average. HC is a pile of dross. It passed it 'sell by' date back in 2002. Lots of good actors and storylines in HC in those days. HC is a prime example of how to ruin a good drama
I wander if George Irving had an input into his speech to the board about meeting targets given that he could likely see that the show was increasingly moving from drama to soap opera.

What a shame that the BBC stopped Holby City. Mr. Anton Meyer should have had his own spin off from this. George Irving is a wonderful actor.
This guy gave the show some gravity...not the utter twosh it now is. Played very well and everyone respected him - true leadership
Anton Meyer was Holby
Legend. Superb actor

And with Anton Meyer's departure Holby City sadly deteriorated into just another average programme.

Best character ever, wish I could rewatch the clip when he operated on Nicola Stephenson’s child and she hugged him afterwards

3minuets in, shows classic sneaky deceptive tactic used in the NHS today, Brilliant they got away with that scene.
Mr Meyer.... Jen Goddard was looking for you...any relation with Ange Goddard?
Jac Naylor wishes she was half as iconic as Anton Meyer
