I gave up on Rainbow High after the reboot this year. None of the doll releases from the brand have interested me at all. I started collecting RH when they first released and had collected almost all of the dolls. It's sad, because I used to love this brand and there were so many good memories associated with them. They brought something fresh to the doll community. This new rebrand does not have the same feeling.😢
We have been collecting since the beginning. I remember the adrenaline rush when finding new dolls in stores. I hope that feeling will come back one day! -Sang
@Put_down_dem_perkies it's a re-brand, for a while there were rumors that mga was going to change RH and they were true, mga wanted to move away from adult collectors
@@ToyChat ... I like the Winter Wonderland series next better. MGA did a wonderful job in updated faces of the dolls. Except for Sunny Skylar Bradshaw, Bella and Violet Willow that I did immediately buy after seeing them up close in the toy stores. They really do come with 2 outfits worn all at once. $29.99 being $5 less than a deluxe package was sort of neat getting all the clothing and coat accessories savings of $5 not being designed as a deluxe doll kit. I am looking more at my "to buy at the toy store" Skylar Bradshaw and Violet Willow comparing them to all the other equivalents on whose face looks like they are in cold weather elements. Skylar Bradshaw's mermaid bottom is more a sleeping bag for inside a camper tent in the cold snowy weather. Choosing the best little mess to her hair and looking like getting up in the morning looks sold one particular face mold and hair looks to me at that toy store. Violet Willow has also a slight face blush like Bella's obvious reddish making her look a little frost bit standing in cold snowy weather outside of her jacket or coat wear.
I used to love Rainbow High, even loved watching the show as an adult and rewatched the first two seasons several times because it was so wholesome and not too ridiculously kid-sy. I haven't been able to watch the show since the reboot, and even looking at the dolls in store makes me way more sad than I'd like to say. I have pretty much no hope for them fixing this whole situation, sadly.
I agree with Sang. I really feel like they should try and cater to both children and adults through different tiers. I think before they did two things wrong (1) they were releasing lines in quick succession and (2) they tried to merge the needs of two completely different demographics into one line. They should do slow roll outs of special releases or collector dolls. Keep the budget dolls (5 points of articulation) and these new gimmick dolls for kids. Barbie does it, Rainbow High can do it better. This brand has massive potential to become a legacy brand for MGA. I’d hate to see them die out. As for the show, I never thought I’d stop watching it but season 5 really put me off. There are pre-school shows that even I enjoy as an adult but that storyline was disjointed. It doesn’t make sense in the context of the previous seasons. They should’ve started a separate show entirely called “Rainbow World” or whatever catering specifically to little kids. And I don’t think they can keep up with a proper schedule for the show which is why I think it would be better to release movies as straight to streaming. Rainbow Vision for example, should’ve been a movie instead of a show where we had to wait for two to three weeks at a time to see what happens next. I’ve been hearing rumours that MGA has reached out to influencers to get a sense of what the public wants from the brand. I hope similar insights come out of that conversation. They need to relax and rethink their strategy. Limit the high end stuff to a few collector releases a year, have some mid tier dolls (original core series) throughout and of course these weird little play things. I sincerely hope this isn’t the end. I still have hope for this brand.
Excpet if they do a separate line for adults we are gonna have to pay 150$ instead of 50$ (I live in Canada), just because it's addressed to adults while not being that much better quality (If Barbie and Monster high releases for adults is anything to go by)
I haven’t watched the show since Rainbow Vision. I really do love Clementine because she’s so unique but I do wish they’d come out with a line specifically for adult collectors.
I hope RH continues to give us fun, quality dolls. But I've got about 80 dolls now & many came with 2nd outfits. I also have a few doubles, so extra outfits there too. Also got many of the blind shoe boxes. I see some people are just done with RH & selling their collection. I will not sell mine. As I just mentioned, I've spent alot of money & time. I love switching up their outfits & doing their hair. Customize some. I literally have fun with them. This doll line is like no other, & I fell in love ! It will be interesting to see where they go in the future.
They are cute, but I’m not a fan of the legs, and downscaled outfits. I haven’t purchased any dolls of this brand since the reboot. I’m hoping for a comeback of the beautiful quality dolls/outfits we used to get. However, I’m not holding much hope for this to happen. It’s really depressing because I loved the dolls we used to get 😢
Great review guys! Like you, I’m missing all of the wonderful details that made this line great & so much fun to collect & play with! I haven’t bought any RH since the reboot except for Clementine because I loved her overall coloring, style, and accessories. But I sadly feel that this doll line has “jumped the shark”. I have no plans to buy anymore RH in the future, & instead will remain content with all of the previous waves of RH & SH in my collection.
I bought Rosetta and I think she will appeal to children. She is a pretty doll but I won’t buy any more of the soft reboot unfortunately. It’s not Rainbow High as I knew them.
You guys should check Circana data on the brand, it makes the rebrand in perspective and Mga direction shift in general. Because doll collecting doesn't happen in a vacuum and outside circumstances play a factor just like the global shipping crisis affecting rainbow high prices in 2021/2022. Personally i feel like this is the best rebrand line and the closest to "old" rainbow high, if they had regular bodies they would have been on part with series 5 and new friends. Beautiful faces, intricate hairstyles, still detailed clothes and painted accessories. All is here but the more mature styling. I think rainbow high can have all their gimmicks on the side as long as they have a strong core line of purely fashion dolls front and center. This could also be great for mixing in new and returning characters instead of creating look alikes
I am a huge fan of the original Rainbow High and especially Shadow High doll lines. I honestly intensely dislike the RH Rebrand, and it really doesn't feel like RH to me anymore. I still keep up with and cover the RH show and doll news in the community tab on my channel, but I haven't bought anything from the RH Rebrand other than Ruby's fox pet secondhand to use as a base for a custom that I want to make. I am mostly working on filling in the gaps in my incomplete RH collection currently, as well as buying SH duplicates whenever I can. For the Sparkle and Shine line, Clemintine is my favorite, and I actually kind of like some of her clothing pieces. I probably won't buy anything from the RH Rebrand, though.🖤💜
I love these dolls. I think we're being too hard on rainbow high right now. We are all afraid of change I'm no exception. But look at these dolls without comparing. They are beautiful.
I agree with several collectors here, I pretty much understood RH is not for me anymore. I have zero interest for the new dolls, as we're far from what the brand was at the origin. It's not necessarily bad in itself, it's a strategic choice to focus more on children I guess, but it's not what I'm looking for anymore : no more character rainbow, no more articulations, detailed and various clothing : so I've decided to quit on this collection. I'm still planning to buy the fashion packs, but no more dolls for me (my wallet is happy 😂) Quick mention on the series too : it's pretty much the same vibe as the dolls : yes the design of the characters are the same, but the story is rather flat and a song in EACH episode is too much for me 😭 Yet, I'm still watching out of curiosity and that's about it
I think this is the best series since the reboot. I like the inclusion of accessories, though random. If Rosetta had a normal body she'd probably be a perfect doll for me. She's my only reboot doll so far. I want RH to succeed. I'm not one to buy the dolls just to be a completionist or to stop buying them all together because wrist joints are gone and another doll line is now the hot new thing. I'm willing to wait it out, see what develops and buy what speaks to me. It does feel like MGA has self-sabotaged with these cutbacks, but it's not like fans haven't been complaining about one thing or another since the beginning: too shiny, not enough neck articulation, knees don't bend enough, not enough face sculpts, too many logos, too much hair gel, too many doll releases, repetitive character releases, repetitive accessories, missing hangers, too expensive, not enough diversity, qc, and so on. I'm sure MGA is tuning it all out by now 😅
"The Final Rainbow High Review" . . . . . End of an era. 😢😭😥 Thank you for all the high quality and detailed RH videos. This doll line made living through 2020 bearable.
I have all of the dolls prior to the reboot but I selectively collect since the reboot. I have all the winter wonderland and plan to get the rest of the Sparkle and Shine ones to go with Rosetta. It would be unreasonable to expect RH/SH to last forever, but I feel that it could have lasted longer. Hoping for some drop dead gorgeous clothing packs - like $20 worth - but I don't think that I will be seeing them.
I haven't bought any of the reboot dolls, but I will probably get Rosetta and likely Clementine. They haven't shown up in Canada yet. The glory days sure didn't last long for Rainbow High, and I will be sad to see them go altogether, which looks like it may be happening. I finally got used to larger heads and have even bought some Pullip dolls, but those are several times the cost (as much as Integrity dolls), and that brand is failing too.
I think I have almost all of the G1 Rah/SH girls, with only the C&C dolls and some Jr missing. I still buy some G1 dolls from RH for my collection though. We'll never get another Lily Cheng :( I left them and returned to my MtM hybrid Barbies (and MH).
Their faces had no horrendous QC issues all of mine are literally perfect, nylon hair, detailed clothes (sorry but I don't like the paper-y printed on one side fabric Mattel) and unique accessories are really good. If no articulation is really what's downgrading these top tier dolls then MGA needs to reconsider the gimmicks. Rosetta was the first I bought. Then Clementine I fell in love and saw the vision. I got Marina last week and will get Viola eventually (I love her dress and eyes) This was a solid line and the only one that interested me after the reboot 💯
Love 2 of these dolls, your 2 faves actually, I've bought them to keep inbox, however even though your review is the best by far no-one has said if the footwear comes off? Obviously I can see the split on the back of the footwear which leads me to believe they do come off but please confirm Thanks much appreciated Jenx
I can cope with no wrist articulations but not with glitter legs. It is a shame because the faces are beautiful. Not worth rebodying despite the pretty faces. I might pick one of my favourites reduced as a kind of "curiosity" lol. Well, that kind of gimmick works for Novi Stars but not too well for Rainbow High.
I agree. I wonder if they could’ve done the glitter legs but kept the leg articulation? I worry about the legs cracking and all the liquid spilling out. -Sang
if their wrists could bend I really dont think Id have many complaints. It is a unique concept but it feels like the mermaze mermaids coughed on them and now their legs look this way.
I haven’t watched the RH episodes in a long time and I haven’t looked for any dolls either. Ever since they seemed to move towards a younger audience, hence the slime and now the see through glitter legs I just haven’t bothered. It’s so sad, because RH was doing to well. Maybe it was getting too expensive to make all the nice stuff? Rosetta would be a doll I’d like to get if it wasn’t for the legs. At least you guys got the dolls free so you didn’t waste your money. I can picture over time the legs leaking from the gel over time, maybe in hot summer. 😝
We both ended up buying Rosetta each! lol I think the glitter legs are less messy than the slime and magic snow. But not at the cost of more articulation. -Sang
@@ToyChat That’s great you got her. 💕 Yeah I’d rather have real legs and articulation. I can imagine the slime and fake snow being messy, I’ve never tried it myself, I’m not interested.

@@Put_down_dem_perkies yes they made a reboot, even shadow high was cancelled bc of that. Now its rainbow world.

I’m scared to watch the show now! The Rainbow High section is pretty sad right now. Hopefully new stuff will come out soon! -Sang
honestly they’ve improved with the accessories, glad they’re not just different variants of the same makeup pallet!!

10:25 they're gonna be twin sisters watch
Honestly, these Sparkle and Shine dolls are the only interesting ones since the reboot and might be worth buying.
Max and I ended up buying Rosetta each. There’s certain aspects of these dolls that reminds of the heydays of Rainbow High. -Sang
I'd love to have a rebody of Clementine.
Their designs and clothes are so frickin cute but the legs are absolutely absurd 😭 like this can NOT be what kids are asking for right???
Final? I love rainbow high and I want it to revive itself
I love your channel not my favorite rainbow high dolls but some of them are good
The legs give me deja vu My Little Pony Rainbow Shimmer glitter globes where they're bodies are glitter globes not sure how I feel for these toys.
I would not buy this doll not even if it cost 15 bucks, but the clothes are very nice.
If I buy do buy one of these I plan on buying Mairina (unsure of spelling)
