She also started wearing it under her Enforcer's jacket in the last act. When she's in the cell with Vi, her jacket falls off, and she's in her turtleneck. I think this shows her Enforcer uniform isn't her identity any longer. She's still an Enforcer, but she takes off the coat when she's at home.
It bears mentioning that Cait was wearing her white, frilly enforcer uniform while she was at her emotional lowest and doing the darkest things to Zaun and Vi. She was also wearing white after Ambessa appointed her to be the Commander of Piltover. According to Maddie (their scene in bed), that position as Commander put Cait in charge of the Enforcers and the government of Piltover. Caitlyn starts wearing the turtleneck after she betrays Ambessa. Caitlyn's betrayal of Ambessa was the introduction of her arc as an independent thinker, uncontrolled by Ambessa. With Caitlyn's new arc as a person with autonomy came a design change to SHOW the viewer that Cait has real power. Therefore, her black turtleneck is not a sign of grief and loss but rather a visual sign of her maturity. The design change from white to black continues as Cait is shown mounting a defense against Ambessa while still commanding Piltover and reconciling with Vi. All of which are positive developments. Again, the animators are showing us that Cait wearing black is a sign of her strength. By the end of the season, Cait is still wearing black, even though Piltover and Zaun are at peace and she is living in domestic bliss with Vi. Cait is not mourning (she chose her love for Vi over her need for revenge when she allowed Jinx to escape). The design change is simply to show that Cait now has agency…..and that she is still the Leader of Piltover. We know that Cait giving her council seat to Sevika didn't change that because the animators kept Cait’s costume design the same except for adding the eyepatch. So, nothing about her role and responsibilities has changed, nor has her emotional strength diminished.
She’s also wearing the turtleneck in the last scene. It could mean that now she’s choking herself for the mistakes she did. One of the last scenes in episode 9 she gives a speech to Piltover and Zaun about the future. I think she ended up just like in the opening, preparing to give a speech/putting on an act and her crown still heavy. It’s also interesting how she has her season 1 look in the opening because we never see her in that hairstyle this season. At the end she does have a ponytail, but very different from that one. 🤔
Just my thought. Her enforcer dress represents her side not wanting to act back on the “vicious act”, the pure heart in season one. The point she really took move is after the memorial, since then she changed look.
Na shes justs Elizabeth Holmes, except she didn't get covicted 😂 Seriously though, caitlyn did very little wrong in the context of Arcane and is probably my favorite character because she has great morals and follows them while still being very human, making her easy to understand
For context, I meant she is very human in how she's doesn't always follow her morals and is manipulated at her weakest, but repents showing how she realizes her actions and grows from her mistakes.
@@commadoziret3951 love your analysis! She’s indeed one of the most humane character in the show~ I had thought about Steve Jobs though🤣 but Holmes lmao
@fatiger114 Yea Caitlyn just reminded me of Holmes being caught with notes about how she wanted to become like Steve Jobs. I guess Steve Jobs really immortalized the black turtle neck 😂

@@doornumb omg that makes 100% sense I got it so wrong 😭😭

Indeed. She does get choked alot. She's suffo-Cait-ing.

@fatiger114 liked yours, too. Thanks for making the video. Please do more.

I just want to say. It's short- but nothing short of absolute sense. It just makes so much sense
