Really good stuff. The Mini Paw was a very popular impact rotor in my region as I was starting in the industry. The Maxi Paw was a big improvement on it. The effort you’re putting into your videos, the editing and pacing…just the right amount of narration…coupled with your knowledge creates a really great product. Time well spent.
Thank you so much ! I find myself rushing to put out content near the end of the year so I hope to continue improving ! I grew up with the 15103 minipaws so they forever have me captivated with the fast rotation and loud sounds. I never saw any of the bigger 2045A maxipaw heads in the ground during my childhood but I do agree, the added weight at the front of the impact arm really slows down rotation and makes for a nicer more quality sounding head. The changeable nozzles are a massive improvement as well.
Such a cool video!!! Music dubbing and editing - bravo sir!! I can’t think of a sound a summer without the noise (in the background) of attained impact sprinkler in the distance. Thanks again for sharing this!!
I remember at my dad's previous rental was one or two Rain Bird green mini paw impact sprinklers (the rest were presumably replaced with black before he moved in). The house was built in the 1980s and I assume the sprinklers are original to the home. Amazing sprinklers and amazing video.
Great demonstration and I liked the showing of the different size nozzles and how they each compared. I am not a mini-paw fan, because they are more difficult to repair. I prefer the last one with the 2045 model head and the double weighted arm. They seem to perform better that the single weighted arm. Again thank you for sharing your video. I will be looking for more in the future, when the weather allows.
Thank you Randy ! I too like the bigger model 2045. They seem to give smoother rotation and better operation. I grew up with 15103 (Original Mini-Paw) in my neighbor's lawn. They seemed to perform well but always had riser seal issues. Thanks for the comment !
@@MikeMac89 The 2045 is the sprinkler head design which is a little different from the mini-paw design. The arm on the 2045 head has a weight on the arm at both the front and back, where the cheaper designs only have the weight on the back end of the arm. They charge more for the 2045 model and it does operate better. Nothing wrong with the P5R model, it just does not have that extra weight on the front side of the arm. I grew up with the original Rain Bird BlackBird which was their first plastic model and had the brass arm. With a lot of pressure it worked pretty well, but it has issues over the years and then came along competition with the Raintime all plastic model and it worked on lower water pressures. The Raintime has other issues over the years, and then came along the Rain Bird plastic arm model, followed by the Nelson Beta II. Rain Bird had during this time came out with the PJ design on their brass models like the 25 and eventually the 35 models. It was not long after that the P5-PJ model came about and still to this day one of their best ever models and works so well. I wanted to put the arm from the Raintime on the BlackBird body and create the best of both worlds and it was OK fro full circle, but I could not make it go in reverse. Several years later, about 1970 or 1971, a company called Lego, from Israel, brought out the model that I had invented and designed. It sold in all of the drug stores, and department stores. It was great while it lasted. When Rain Bird came out with the basic P5-R model, that became their best plastic head design and it accomplished several things. The size made it usable in the canisters and that worked out well. Anyway a little history and my experiences.
@randyvanheusden732 Wow! Thank you for the knowledge! That's so awesome that you designed a head that was put into production ! I have a few Lego heads that I'm hoping to get on the stand next year. I remember seeing the blackbirds on spikes around the neighborhood. Iconic sprinkler. Thank you very much for the history lesson !
@@MikeMac89 I figured out that over all of these years the Lego company in Israel must have gotten sued by the LEGO toy company and so is not called Elgo. I have not seen their sprinklers except online in their website. The designs have changed from the original build. I have two of the arms to use and put together again. I still have a box full of parts from when I was a pre-teen.
Nice! It looks like you've got your hands on some rare sprinklers! First of all, I had no idea a low angle version of the mini paw existed. Also, I've never seen a Maxi Paw in green canister (have only seen them in black). I do wish they continued making those sprinklers in green because they blend in the turf better (IMO). Anyways, great video and thanks for sharing! You earned a new subscriber.
Hey thank you very much ! I too ha e never seen them on green and the low angle was a good find for sure! Glad to have you here. Some good things coming once the snow melts !!
I'm assuming the green dye in the plastic is more expensive than the black. They made a few different shades of the most green plastic over the years. Also could be a market specific offering.

@@sccpsteve they are very nostalgic for sure!! Thank you
Hey great job really enjoyed your presentation and the slow mo shot BTW that's the first low angle I have seen run!
Thanks a lot Frank ! Glad to have you here!

I’m jealous you have the LA. Saw one just like that on eBay a few years ago and it slipped by me. 😖
I had no idea that it was the LA until I got looking at it ! I thought it was just a normal LG.

Where do you find all these old sprinklers?
Mostly on Ebay , and fellow sprinkler enthusiasts.
why they don’t maje it green now? im considering painting the cap and case…
