The world of Arden is vast, filled with ancient magics, opportunity, and brewing political disasters, but above all else it is permeated by an ever-existing and mysterious System that grants power to those who follow its rules. Lysander, born the third son of a second-string and disgraced noble family, must reach beyond his station in life, and acquire higher attribute scores, proficiencies, and skill abilities, if he ever hopes to live up to his own ambitions.
The young swordsman, however, has both a hidden strength and limitation that doesn't plague the others of Arden. His born trait, the term for the randomized power that everyone acquires at birth, is to convert all of the mana in his body into physical strength before it ever enters his magical pathways. The path of the mage is forever barred to our young warrior; however, he will not allow this to deter him from his goals.
Seeking to find a way to earn a writ of trade, an endorsement by the Archport Merchants' Guild that grants certain financial and mercantile privileges, Lysander must journey with his sorceress sister, Anabelle, and train with the members of the Swords Guild, a local mercenary organization only vaguely supported by the nobility.
However, things are never as they seem, and misfortune and witchcraft are brewing around the coastline of the Sea of Drakes and greater High Coasts region. Will Lysander be able to rise above the brutal nature of the world he was born into, to find all of the riches and opportunities the fifth age of man has to offer?

This one took a while to get going - endure and it will be worth it 🙌 as of the audio-quality: Excellent as ever!
i found it quite enjoyable. currently 1 1/2 hour in and its not a character that manages to beat everyone he meets for instance like some storys (but those can be fun to if made properly, specialy if they show that its not a first time ocasion, like how "the path of ascension" do. it shows clearly that there is people that is able to break the norm from time to time and that there is people that would kill the mc in a blink of an eye if not for realy strict laws aigenst attacking down tiers.
Love the audiobook adds lately and thank you again for putting so the work into finding/making good voices -- It's not perfect but they've gotten to the point of sounding mostly natural and nice to listen to. Thanks again and looking forward to the continues series and hopefully more awesome LITrpg books :D

Other then the occasional bouts of tourettes the narrator is great. Awesome story, the progression is satisfying and the characters each stand out in their own wasy.

So far I'm really enjoying this, but I wish the author hadn't gone in on the trope of mages being so busted.
Seems like there would be no problems in this world that mages wouldn't be able to teleport to, deal with, and be home in time for lunch.

Why did the MC back down in the negotiations with the blacksmith he held all the cards he had the money and the means to get her more money so that she could theoretically do her job because one he didn't even know that she could make the sword or if she just found the sword and two he's going off she might know where more more is and that she might be able to make more swords of the same quality. I know it's most likely just to introduce a love interest into the story but they argued about it for 20 minutes for him just to back the f*** off and just give her money like she was his wife.
I like this almost as much as the american one.
