I fully agree with you. I know that I would be hugely disappointed if I didn't get a window seat on the trains that I take because I like watching the scenery go by.
Thanks for making your videos. I flew once about 36 yrs ago. Two take offs, two landings, too much for me. Love to travel, just not by plane. Disabled with pain now so I dont travel anymore but I can with the courtesy of people like you. Thank you. Enjoyed the video.
a little of the overload here,I have osteo arthrites, but I will spend about 14 hours on a trip to the phils, and thats with lousy balance balance,a cane, and walker,I do feel for you,I understand the pain.sometimes you have to take chances,it is fun to fly somewhere
Thank you. I'm just getting out the extended cuts, this was the last of them I had so far. Going back to more edited videos from next week and then after a while I will post the longer cuts again.
When I Travel The World I always get in from work earlier than the wife so this is my time , if it’s ok to ask are you from England because I always thought I could hear a little twang in your voice lol . Meant in a polite way . Thanks again really impressed
Excellent :) Well thank you again for watching. Yep I was born and raised in Bristol for the first 22 years of my life. Then I moved to California, and now i'm between both a lot.
I'm liking what i am seeing, i flew to LA from London Heathrow in 2001, just after 9/11. I wasn't in first class, but the food was very tasty and the flight a little quiet!, but i arrived in the evening, and was amazed at how humid it was. Maybe i'll go back someday
This is an AWESOME way for me to live vicariously through your flight from LHR to SEA: both places I've flown to, but on totally different trips! I like that I did not have to pay the inflated price, but get to experience SOME of the perks 2 flying First Class!!!
Virgin First Class crew were exceptionally friendly and the lounge at Heathrow is awesome. Lukewarm champagne, broken toilets, and missing selections on food menu are just a few of my unfavorite things on an otherwise flight delight.
Love your videos! Very well done with just enough written commentary in just the right places. Makes me want to pick up the mantle of an air warrior again.
I was in the travel industry 1963-1999 and more often than not flew First Class. Business Class came in around 1979. Everything was better then. People actually dressed to fly and did not turn up with backpacks and torn jeans. I always wore coat and tie. Far more civility and class then. No tattoos and t-shirts even in Coach. A window seat was a 'must'. Some of the most beautiful photographs I have were taken from plane windows. Met some wonderful seat mates. The idea of being encapsulated facing inward would be a configuration that the carrier should PAY ME to endure. I would not travel today for anything. Never again.
This is such a snobby, elitist and “back in my day…” comment. Travel is now way more affordable for the average person, and while airlines have a lot to answer for with declining quality of service, especially after Covid, it’s still a good thing a lot more people can fly now.
I liked the video, thanks. I've travelled this route and although I don't have anything to compare it with, I found the seat arrangement fine. I was really comfortable, slept well, watched a good movie, enjoyed the great food and by the time I arrived in Seattle I felt a whole lot better than when I left Heathrow, after a night in a pretty awful airport hotel.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Personally I like any business class, it beats flying economy any day, so I often wonder why people complain so much when they are in business class.
As someone that aspires to travel this class, yet has a completely unsophisticated palette when it comes to food. It's nice to know I can fly Virgin Upper Class with a burger plus cheese and wine on the menu :)
The service is a little unrefined. That surprises me! The flight attendant doesnʻt serve you the beverage, you just pluck it off her tray. When placing the linen down, she is holding the rest under her arms and she fusses and touches her hair then your glass. However, the entrees and amenities look really good!
Another great video and I Love the ATC added!! The Virgin clubhouse looks great but like many others I love looking out the window and so that seat arrangement would seriously disappoint me. Thanks for another great video!
I flew LHR to Hong Kong in Virgin Upper Class many years ago. In those days, Upper Class (747) used fully reclining seats (not flat-folding) but there were only ten seats (all forward-facing) in the Upper Class section in which I was seated (behind the radome bulkhead). More like a room than a cabin, with lots of space to stretch out or walk around, a staffed bar at the back of the section, free thick fleecy sleep suits to take away with one, even a manicure or neck massage included! Behind the section and bar there was a separate area with two face-to-face forward- and aft-facing sofas separated by a ''coffee table'. Sadly, all that has now gone, replaced by this space-saving, squeeze-em-in, herringbone arrangement, even in Upper Class!
Compared to First Class on other airlines (and some Business Class), the seating is definitely second-rate and the service seemed to lack the "poshness" that one would expect for the price Yes, that FA needs to do something with that hair! Considering what you pay for nine hours of "luxury" on a plane, enduring Economy and then using the savings for a five-star hotel and several elegant meals might be a better value. But then, those who fly First (Upper) Class don't worry about the cost.
Yes, most people who travel first class do not worry about money, because it comes from someone else most of the time. This channel is asking for us to support him so he can go first class! ??? That is a real honest way to make a living????
The seating looks absolutely bizarre. You're sitting up looking at the aisle?. Your seat turns into a bed with your feet facing the aisle? Doesn't seem to be much privacy or a way to get some sleep.
The herring bone is great, WHEN the seats are facing the windows. Delta used to have them on the upper deck of their 747 fleet. Alas! Last year I had the pleasure of a Virgin window seat, looking into the aisle, and being entertained for the whole flight staring at some fat slobs hairy butt crack, shining through his rumpled shorts and gritty tee shirt. It added a touch of flavor to my afternoon tea and sandwiches, and came included with the price of my Upper Class upgrade. One of the flight attendants and I did our fair share of eye rolling at each other.
Looking for vacation ideas...want to go somewhere different...great idea...love it...thanks for posting this . this does give a very well done look and see how it is before hand..
Now that's a Lounge The Captains comment on the delay being caused by a minor Cabin trim problem made me laugh, having worked in the Cabin on the 787 we call it the plastic pig as everything breaks. Even the Crew call it the Scream Liner. Great Video.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. After watching other videos I found the steward service on this one a bit lacking in finesse. Seem also too pally pally. The main reason for me if I'll ever collect enough airmiles to fly first class is to feel really special. The food service looked more like the distribution of meals.
Honestly the your video receives an A-,it would have been an A+ but for the fact the take off and land segments were way to boring. Now to Virgins Upper Class Cabin, well that gets a 5/10, that was pretty bloody awful environment, seating, menu and sliver service. Not worth the extra money! However the Virgin lounge at Heathrow and that shower/steam room was pretty top-notch. Thanks for exposing all the flaws in this carrier and I can't wait for your next video - someone please sponsor this eBayer because he just saved me the disappointment of booking a flight with VA and an epic load of money.
I do like using time wisely. Theres only so much one can eat and unless theres a bo issue one shower is enough so getting a haircut in the lounge I think is a great idea. Nice report. Thanks!
Just used the Clubhouse and Upper Class return to NYC - only able to afford by collecting Virgin Atlantic miles - it’s a great way to live the high life once in a while 🤗
Hahahahaha this configuration closely resemble a battery hen operation . And the crew is just feeding the hens like robots. I wish i never meet this configuration
Hell yeah I love your videos. Best thing about them is seeing what you get for the money. Hard enough to decide based on ticket prices alone. Some people would know airlines to avoid like Spirit but the others have so much advertising it's not always clear who has better food and beverages. It's good to see the seating configuration. I really like that you show the menu and the wine list. All that information helps to decide whether a slightly higher cost ticket is worthwhile.
I have to agree, nothing I have seen in the footage makes me want to travel with Virgin. Compared to other airlines I think the seating needs a re think, and also the in flight service did not see much happiness or smiling, it seemed to go everywhere. I guess I am used something a bit different, it is a new product for Virgin and I really should give it a chance. Love'd the aircraft though. beautiful B787-900.
I would have liked a hot tub in the clubhouse. I find soaking in warm water to be one of the few things that truly relaxes me. Airports always make me feel sickly, dehydrated and high strung! So stressful!
Yeah its an interesting idea, not sure how nice it would be though, with loads of people using it. But I agree, a nice soak before a long flight is nice.
When I Travel The World True, the public factor is certainly a bit gross. Still, a pool and jacuzzi facility would be just the thing! I suppose not everyone would use it. My favorite would be a sensory deprivation tank and I would pay extra to have it between flights. However I’d also be thrilled to travel by zeppelin and I know that’s not going to happen any time soon. Settle I will.
The Virgin London first class check-in and lounge is the best check-in experience in London (better than BA, Emirates, Qantas...). Private driveway, private check-in desk, your own security lane and a great lounge. It's big because it was built when Virgin was big and wanting to get bigger, but it got smaller over the last ten years. The space adds to the luxury in the lounge though. I hope you pinched the cut salt & pepper shakers - they even say "Pinched form Virgin" on the bottom. No world traveller's house is complete without them. :D
Yeah the Upper class check in at LHR is a nice touch that you can be dropped straight off at the terminal, even BA don't have that feature for first class passengers. I hope Virgin starts to expand a little more to give BA some better competition.
Wish I could make travel videos I’d be the most appreciative video blog passenger ever can’t even afford to fly coach on my disability from the VA so I really enjoy seeing how the upper half lives thank you so much
Great video. Excellent format and I like the subtitle commentary. Very well executed, although I would have preferred the take-off being edited so it was shorter. In terms of the lounge, it looks like a really social place to be and there seem to be a lot of activities. Emirates First Class in Dubai on the other hand is so huge that it always feels empty, which sounds great but personally I'd prefer the social aspects of the Virgin lounge. I'm a huge fan of Richard Branson, how he lives his life and all he's achieved, and as such I'd love to experience his brand, but I can't say that the plane configuration in Upper Class is great. I've checked the price of Upper Class tickets from where I live to my home country, and for roughly the same price you can purchase a First Class Emirates ticket and have your own private suite. And if you think that bathroom is big, you should check out Emirates A380 on board shower/bathroom. The amenities kit is much better with quality brands (Gillette, Colgate, Bulgari etc.) and the selection of drinks is superior. Oh and depending on the aircraft, there are between 6-14 seats (as oppose 31). Overall I buy into the Virgin brand more so than Emirates, but for the product available I'd have to go with Emirates every time. But I still want to look out of an airplane window one day and see that famous red engine with 'Virgin' emblazoned on the side!
A very comprehensive vid and prefer the captions to voice. I have worked in all the Terminals at LHR and prefer T3, it has an old world vibe ie when flying was very classy and the VA lounge is the best one in any of the terminals. Prefer seeing your wife in the shower though lol. Many have commented on the seat layout and yes if your an avid cloud watcher it is not the best but many just work eat and sleep on board. Comprehensive menu as always as is the inflight entertainment vids, girls and bar but no pina colada lol. Enjoyed
When I Travel The World I look forward to it.. Despite decades working for an airline I don't favour any particular one over another so any comments will be from the side of the pax and neutral
I was going to treat myself to upper class for Heathrow to Vegas in December, but the reviews of these seats and the fact that I have a disability that might have made it a bit tricky manoeuvring in such a small space led me to save £900 and book the first seat in Premium Economy instead.
hopefully VS will use the VA or DL biz seats. Great video, subtitles rather than commentary less distracting and the editing was seamless.Long form really superior. I bet the line ,here's my wife downing a few whiskies will cost you at Prada or similar. Cheers and thanks.
I'm looking forward to seeing what VS puts into the A350, I really hope its not just a revision of this seat, that would be terrible. Same goes for BA, I hope they bring in something new. My wife loves Whiskey & Beer, its one thing we enjoy doing. But she's very picky, she really enjoy's bourbon aged stouts the most of those are pretty strong.
For thos that are commenting they would never fly with this style of seat, okay, let me ask, how long do you actually spend looking out the window ? (yes there are some amazing views to be had in the west coast routes) and, the one huge advantage IMHO is that your head is away from the aisle, a little quieter for sure.
Same question as before; what does the 787-9 standard airfare seat and cabin area look like. I love flying and traveling but not at super inflated prices. My favorite alcoholic beverage is ale, heavy dark and with lots of hops, like New Castle Ale (since this is a British video), Serra Nevada Pale ale, Cleveland Burning River Pale Ale, or India Pale Ale. My favorite food is kielbasa, polish sausage, hamburger, sour kraut, or fish and chips. (since this is a British video)
Bravo on making a flight review without making it all about yourself and only showing the food. Whilst it’s an important part of the flight it’s still nice to see everything else too.
Glad people are starting to notice; @@iandunbar-reid6018 :one of the first things I was taught are the amount of times i'll touch my face/hair/clothing... and not really be aware of it.
Yes, I did enjoy that, nice and relaxing. Good to see that the windows were not pre-tinted by the crew, allowing quality time for filming. I do think, however, it is time for Virgin Atlantic to upgrade to more up to date Business seating, the Herringbone looks quite claustrophobic to me. Not having flown in a 787, it certainly looks a decent aircraft. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
I agree its time for Virgin to update the business class seats, they are supposedly doing this on the A350's when they receive them, but we shall see. I always like it when crew's don't tint the windows on the 787.
Great video. Lounge looked huge in LHR. Delicious meals and the seat was awful it hard to view the window. Nice takeoff with RR roared. Virgin Dreamliner is more modern than A330 or B747-400. So, I had seen the Virgin Dreamliner landed to SEA from Boeing Field where 50th Anniversary B737 event was in museum of flight. I lived in Everett and heard the new flights from PAE on next year
The VA Clubhouse looks amazing and as soon as VA has the their new A350 in service with updated Upper Class seats, I will give them a try. However, as long as VA has the bizarre, stinky-feet-thrust-into-the-aisle, seats facing away from the window configuration, I will, reluctantly, stick with BA First. And, as always, great video.
Fine video. Personal experience with Virgin, short of Air France First Class, they are the way to cross the Atlantic. Upper class is rather pricey, occasionally you can purchase an upgrade for a reasonable price. The seat is not the greatest, and if you like looking out the window, that herring bone pattern will buy you a ticket to your local chiropractor. Service on this vid seemed perfunctory - it has always been superb on my flights. Now, the biggest "bargain" on Virgin is their Premium Economy. Seat is wider than Upper Class, and seat plus service beats any US domestic first class hands down, and saves a bundle. Meals are okay, but coming out of LHR, you can pre purchase some superb inflight dining at any of the local restaurants. Final point - the Virgin Club lounge is to die for, at least in London. As a Delta Platinum flyer, I've got access, and it's worth flying out of London just to experience it. Again, excellent video.
I miss the library room at the LHR CH briefly shown as you walked around, I hope the new UCS on the A350 is an improvement on the current offering, I would really like to mix my biz flights between VS & BA, thanks for another extended review
I’d be disappointed being faced away from the window like that. Seeing the view out is a big part of the experience for me.
Yep it is indeed annoying.
I fully agree with you. I know that I would be hugely disappointed if I didn't get a window seat on the trains that I take because I like watching the scenery go by.
Facing away from the window is not as bad as you think it is.
100000% agree - I'd have a crook neck after that flight having twisted my head around to look out the window
Anthony Rock It is if you enjoy looking out!
There's a lot I like about the look of Virgin's service and the clubhouse looks great. But I would hate facing out into the aisle with a passion.
Yeah a lot of people don't like that aspect of the seats.
That's what I was thinking. It's better than economy, but they could have faced the seats away from the aisle.
Right away I recognize that setting the seats at this angle can fit more people, plus easier for crew to wait on their guests.
This is one of the best flight review I’ve seen on TH-cam.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
If you think this fellow's good you need to see Sam Chui.... the King of Airline travel reviews IMHO!
As much as I like the Clubhouse I still can't believe they have those seats in Upper Class, terrible! 😬
Yeah agree with you there.
I'll be taking this flight in just a few weeks. Thank you for the insight on the flight, and what to expect. Cheers from Seattle
Really enjoying your content of late , love the longer videos and great insight into different airlines , cheers
Thank you. I'm just getting out the extended cuts, this was the last of them I had so far. Going back to more edited videos from next week and then after a while I will post the longer cuts again.

When I Travel The World thank you 😊 I’m not nosy just was genuinely interested many thanks as you can guess I’m from Watford
There’s nothing about this that feels exclusive. The service looked ropey and of course the seat configuration is ridiculous.
Service seemed very slap dash and uncaring. No warmth at all. A real shame. Just realised I commented on this a year ago. Sorry for the repeat.
A330-200 and A350-1000 hmmmmm they don’t have that bad seats
I'm liking what i am seeing, i flew to LA from London Heathrow in 2001, just after 9/11. I wasn't in first class, but the food was very tasty and the flight a little quiet!, but i arrived in the evening, and was amazed at how humid it was. Maybe i'll go back someday
I don't get these fellas who travel the world first class and ask to donate for their youtube channels, something's wrong here.
A fair enough point.
Big smile and head-nod.

This is an AWESOME way for me to live vicariously through your flight from LHR to SEA: both places I've flown to, but on totally different trips! I like that I did not have to pay the inflated price, but get to experience SOME of the perks 2 flying First Class!!!

Nice work my friend. Only an average seat, though. It's quite an old design that needs an upgrade!
Thanks Paul. yes its a much older product that needs an Update. I look forward to seeing what they will put on the A350.

Great videos, you do a great job with the total experience 😊
British Airways first class has the best seat configuration, Fantastic video.
Really enjoying these daily uploads...longer versions are best.
Thank you, that's the last of the daily uploads for a while. Need to work on new videos now.
Great touch adding the ATC.
Thank you, glad you like it.
Another great video and I Love the ATC added!! The Virgin clubhouse looks great but like many others I love looking out the window and so that seat arrangement would seriously disappoint me. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Yes A lot of people really don't like the seats.

Absolutely agree, I've traveled with Delta, AA, United, and BA and this is the worse seat configuration ever.
Lmao was thinking same thing about that hair! As a retired FA, the service didn't appear to be all that IMO.

Yep its the standard bad points of the herringbone seat, not everyone likes them and the design is fairly old.
Yea the seats are a little strange but I slept for 6 hours LHR to LAX last summer. Had sushi for breakfast😁
The herring bone is great, WHEN the seats are facing the windows. Delta used to have them on the upper deck of their 747 fleet. Alas! Virgin's upperclass has always been a favorite of mine. Have been flying it to London from the New York area since 1998.
Glad you enjoy flying with them, thanks for watching and the comment.
I really enjoyed your video. Perfect amount of talking.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Now that's a Lounge
The Captains comment on the delay being caused by a minor Cabin trim problem made me laugh, having worked in the Cabin on the 787 we call it the plastic pig as everything breaks. Even the Crew call it the Scream Liner. Great Video.
Yes the lounge is really good, a lot to do in there. Thanks for the insider information, I guess the aircraft is a bit plastic inside.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. After watching other videos I found the steward service on this one a bit lacking in finesse. Seem also too pally pally.
This is amazing content. Can't wait to experience this ! Thanks for sharing.😍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment.
Wish I could make travel videos I’d be the most appreciative video blog passenger ever can’t even afford to fly coach on my disability from the VA so I really enjoy seeing how the upper half lives thank you so much
Great airline to fly to any route.Excellent filming
Thank you as always for the comment and watching.
Great experiences and travelling. The Great Video too...
What camera do you use for this video? Thanks
Thanks for scanning the menu, makes a change for some to take the time necessary so we can read what’s on offer 👍
Glad you like that part and thanks for watching and the comment.
Epic review
I'm hoping one day that I'll have the opportunity to fly on a 787-9, Or any type of 787 for that matter. Good job on the video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching and the comment , glad you enjoyed it.
I'm doing this flight in December on my way out to Hawaii.
Nice review. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching and the comment.
Enjoyed
Thank you David, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment.
When I Travel The World
My pleasure.. Have subscribed so looking forward to many more
Thank you and welcome. Another Virgin Video coming the end of this week. Though in a different style.
When I Travel The World
I look forward to it..
Although the herring bone layout isn’t great, it does allow for more seats in the cabin.
hopefully VS will use the VA or DL biz seats.
Great video as always
Thank you.
Thank God that are updating their seats in Upper Class got upgrade from Premium Economy to honest I preferred my Premium Economy seat
Yeah I agree with you, its great they are putting in new seats.
Great video thank you for sharing
Thinking of doing YVR-LHR (via SEA) with Virign (it costs only 3400 CAD return) but I'm kind of holding back because of these seats
Wonderful video, Well done!!!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
For thos that are commenting they would never fly with this style of seat, okay, let me ask, how long do you actually spend looking out the window ? (yes there are some amazing views to be had in the west coast routes) and, the one huge advantage IMHO is that your head is away from the aisle, a little quieter for sure.
Very Very beautiful takeoff sounds... :-P Thanks for sharing...
Thank you for watching and the comment.
Is this just for Business and First Class ?, do Virgin have a lounge at LAX would you know ?
Yes Virgin have a great lounge at LAX. Virgin's business class is called upper class. They do not offer first class.
@@Whenitraveltheworld Many thanks, much appreciated
Its a really nice lounge and fairly new, some great food option in it.
nice video: great clubhouse (lounge), decent food but the herringbone interior is stupid
Thank you for watching and the comment.
yes, i totally agree @TK,,, the clubhouse is HUGE, even with Showers,,,wow,,,, but the seating on the plane is a bit odd
This is a good video well done very informative
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
isnt the herringbone seat a little claustrophobic feeling especially for a a tall guy? if i were cabin crew i'd hate serving over some socked feet!
Absolutely loved the video* ; thanks...! I would recommend it to my friends.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Daniel Klaus As if we give a flying fuck ...
Beautiful video,,, , as always I enjoyed very much! 👍
Thank you,glad you enjoyed it.
Bravo on making a flight review without making it all about yourself and only showing the food. Whilst it’s an important part of the flight it’s still nice to see everything else too.
Thank you, yep that's what i'm trying to do here, not make it all about me and just show the product.
flight attendant kept playing with her hair whilst doing meal service- sloppy & just unhygienic...
I did not notice that until you pointed it out !
Standards are crumbling Gee Cee, 2:44 even the hot tub has been removed :o
I too think it is unhygienic for anyone in food handling to play with their hair. Hair nets should be the norm for anyone with long hair. @@VIMDODF
That describes VA to a tee..... sloppy & unhygienic!
Glad people are starting to notice; @@iandunbar-reid6018 :one of the first things I was taught are the amount of times i'll touch my face/hair/clothing... and not really be aware of it.
Enjoyed the video, but what a stupid way to sit on an airplane.
LOL thank you.
yes @AD, the clubhouse is HUGE, even with Showers,,,wow,,,, but the seating on the plane is a bit odd
A bit dodgy as the British say.
Very nice onboard service!
Thanks for watching and the comment.
I lived in Everett and heard the new flights from PAE on next year
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the comment.
No problem :)
Yes the next time I fly VA is when they are flying the A350. That will be the best time to fly them. Thank you again for the comment.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the excellent comment.
I’m planning a NYC to London trip. I plan on flying Virgin Upper Class!
god awful facing out herringbone ...thank god Delta is getting rid of them on their 777.
Yeah its really not to everyone's taste.
Then the seats were so narrow, I woke up with a neck ache one flight. :-/
There's a special place in hell for people who just stand still on the conveyor walkways.
Great review, what camera do you use ?
Just my phone and a Gorpro 4. All fairly old
Great video! I love flying Virgin but sadly have never used their lounge! You have some pretty cool tattoos! 😊
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment.
I miss the library room at the LHR CH briefly shown as you walked around, I hope the new UCS on the A350 is an improvement on the current offering, I would really like to mix my biz flights between VS & BA, thanks for another extended review
Ahh yes I remember that now you mention it. Yes I hope they put some amazing new seats in the A350's
Curious to know, After an hour in Seattle did you run back to the empty first class lounge at the airport?
lol nope I did not, but it took a SW flight down to Orange county, CA.
Was "bumped" to UC once from Antigua to Uk. Wrote to Virgin and said "dont ever do that to me again!" Appalling .
lol
VA is 100X better than BA in business or economy class. Great video!
I do think they provide a better experience than BA , I agree with you.
what do you guys do for a living that you travel so much
