Hedgehogs like a waterbowl or 3 ,and a couple of covered stations with dry catfood, we have from 2-6 on visit in garden in the summer, it is summer when they come and visit and autumn when they leave. The dry mealworms which one can find in large bucket, a little bit of that mixed in is yummy for them. They say it is slugs and brown snails here, havent seen some here for years,but seen the hogs hunting for them,they are effective .

Quakegirl NZ: I do indeed have a wee horticultural question concerning roses: Do the petals of roses in the Southern Hemisphere, spiral in the opposite direction, than they do north of the earth's equator? I think that our relative latitudes from NZ and California, for growing roses, may be very distant, yet perhaps rather similar.
