  • Went fishing with my nephew in Yankeetown. Started out the day by going to the spoil banks to try and find some big fish moving back in from spawning offshore, did not have much luck there. Went north to the bars and creeks and we were able to find some fish, no big ones but steady action. Found some Tarpon and tried throwing big paddle tails for them, unfortunately didn't catch any. Also threw in a pretty cool clip of Dolphin feeding on mullet! Thanks for watching!

Looked like topwater heaven - the best way to catch reds. Water at 89 degrees, I'm surprised they were even in there eating.

Topwater is a great way to find fish! The water temp was high but we had pretty good cloud cover in the morning that definitely helped the bite. It kept the water temp steady before the sun came out and pushed the temp over 90°.

🎣 my home waters. Outer islands usually produce pretty bull reds in the fall.

Glad to hear you fish the same waters, lots of good fishing all along the nature coast!

Another good video. I've found the mirror mullet to be the best topwater bait when it's slick like that just wondering if you've ever tried one?

Thank you!! And I actually have not tried that bait yet, thanks for the tip! I’ll get one and give it a shot.

Hey Josh - and shore fishing opportunities out there that would be worth a drive from Ocala?

Hey Chris! This time of the year it can be tough to fish from shore because a lot of the fish are on the outside structure closer to deep water. But once it starts to get cooler the fish will move closer in. I’d recommend the end of the barge canal in Yankeetown. There are two spillways in Inglis that may have some snook there now, but there will be a better chance for them there during the winter time. You also have the chance to catch bass and sometimes smaller tarpon there. Beach fishing on the east coast can also be a good option while it’s still hot outside. Hope that helps!

Were you using a gold crank bait in the beginning? I have one in my tackle box but I’ve never used it. Any luck with it?

It was a black and gold wake bait. I’ve used it a couple times now and haven’t had any luck with it yet, but I have faith it’s gonna work so I’m gonna keep trying it lol.
