To cut out that tedious process of erasing lines in Sketchup you can rather create a rectangle (larger than the 3D object itself) and place it at the midpoint of the 3D object. Select both the rectangle and the 3D object, right click and select 'Intersect Faces > With Selection'. This will essentially create a section of the 3D object onto the rectangle. Will take you 30 seconds👍
