I got confused with one of the lines.
Here it says for indirect system weight is fixed where as length is variable.
For direct system the length is fixed and weight is variable. Isnt it the other way round? Because whenever I order a cotton Fabric of 180gsm, I say the count is 24s and for 160gsm the count is 30s. Can you pls explain if I have made a mistake anywhere?

Thanks for your Question. There is no direct relationship between count and GSM . When you determine yarn count from fabric, you have to take yarn from fabric and consider weight of this yarn. For indirect counting system number of Hanks of 1lbs weight yarn is considered as this yarn count (Ne/S) . So this case weight keep fixed of calculate yarn count. If you use same yarn for making fabric of high stitch density it's GSM will be higher than the lower stitch density fabric.
