    At 7:31 you talk about the fiber connectors and using them to connect to a fiber switch. Can those be used instead of the Ethernet ports (orange) or are the fiber and Ethernet ports serving different purposes? Thanks for this video. Useful.

    Was a senior system engineer for 15 years , aged me 30 years . Glad I left that profession 6 years ago. Back then is was fibre zoning through brocades etc not sure if it’s the same these days

      Thanks for your comment. Yeah fibre zoning is still a thing, either that or iSCSI over ethernet or SFP modules.

    how much will I be looking to spend on a unit like this?

    What are those orange pull click things on the back of the unit?

    • @samdinh3502
      @samdinh3502 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those orange tab indicate that the component is hot-swappable, this means you can pull it out and swap new one in without impact the production. No downtime.

      @@samdinh3502 ok thanks but apart from the PSUs what are those other round orange things?

    • @samdinh3502
      @samdinh3502 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Si--- Hot-swappable components are note only PSUs but many others too, such as HDD/SSD, Fans, Input/Output Modules, Controllers. In short, whatever component has the orange tab, it supports hot-swapping.

    Is there a powerOn button?

    • @simoncorner
      @simoncorner 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, as soon as you connect power it comes on. You can shut it down from the web interface. They are not designed to be powered off and on regularly though. We have some of the previous VNX series that haven't been powered off in 5 years.
