Lateef Carrere that was one of the many reasons I went with the big Caddy engine - I could’ve bought a small block Chevy from a friend for $100, but it just wouldn’t be as much fun as something with 500 lb-ft from the factory 😉 I’ve got a 3.54:1 gear in the back, so it won’t be particularly fast, but it should definitely be absurdly quick lol

There were cars there from the 20s to the 2000s but the fact that they consider Late 80s to mid 90s mustangs and vettes classic cars made me feel old.

In the summer of '83, I was working for a custom combiner on the wheat harvest. As we rolled south to Oklahoma and Texas, where the wheat would be ready earlier, we stopped in McPherson to do some work on our combine. There was a Massey Ferguson dealer where my boss, Rod, had worked when he was in college there. We worked there for about a week before moving south and starting to combine. On the way north we came back through, I found a '56 Ford F-100 for sale. I bought it and returned for it when the summer's work was over. I hopped in that thing and drove it from McPherson, Kansas to Climax, Michigan non-stop. It had a 272 Y-block and with the 2 speed rear end, got 14 miles to the gallon on the trip home. Great memories!

Another great episode in which the TRUE hobby is reflected in so many different ways.
So many different ideas and plans from all sorts of different folks are represented in this series, but they all share one thing - they're all "car guys" (and yes, sometimes girls, too :-)).
They're not wealthy people who treat the hobby as a business venture or pay someone else exponential dollars to fix their cars up - they do it themselves, as time and money allows.
They don't truck their spotless, trailered rides to Barrett-Jackson or Mecum - they're driving the things if possible and working towards that goal if they aren't yet.
I see all these young folks on shows like this and it helps to calm my fears that the hobby is dying.
Thanks as always, Tom & company. Your efforts here are noble, sir.

    I so love this show!
Thanks Tom, and Haggerty, for producing this fabulous series.
This episode and the two earlier segments where the car was found in the salvage yard in Texas, and the subsequent episode where the car was refurbished, pretty much capture the essence and the excitement of the love for old cars, and the passion for restoring them. This is what it's all about!
I was thrilled when I saw the second segment, where Tom returned to Texas to retrieve the car, and the owner of the salvage yard made his garage available for the restoration.
And tonight, when I saw that the presentation at the College was to be made, I knew that I was in for an awesome ride.
I had never heard of the Automotive program at McPherson, so I was really excited to learn of it, and to see several of their students working together, to restore this car.
I really love to see that there are still at least a few folks out there who appreciate the histories and legacies of these old cars; who have sufficient passion to invest the time and money to rescue and rehabilitate them.
I wish that there were more Automotive courses comparable to McPherson's, available in other regions.
For most of my life, I've dreamed of doing this kind of work, but up to this point in my life, now in my early 50's, it hasn't been in the cards for me to do it.
But I'm determined to get about it sometime soon!
Thanks again for all that you do to produce this wonderful series.
It's among the very best content on TH-cam, and I thoroughly enjoy it.

With the exhaust leak I couldnt agree with you more on the Bugeye going with the 1275 although you also need to Change the brakes to disc. 2 things I regret Not doing !!!
Going to McPherson & moving to California or at least out west. I always eat, sleep, dream & bleed cars. In high school I had a 63 Impala - I paid more attention to that car - my friend & girl friend called the car Christine. I was bad. Then life happens - other things come & go. Finally after many years - I'm back into cars again. A good paying job helps !!!
Love the things you do !!!
    Keep it up !!!

Too bad it was raining when you drove through Great Bend, KS.That is where the very 1st NHRA "Nationals" drag race was held in 1955 . Great Bend is an old hot town. I'm guessing there are great barn finds around there.
Thanks for doing the show .

My father and both his brothers owned '62 Galaxies......one brother (my uncle) was a priest who drove a beautiful black (in/out) Galaxie 500. I went with him to pick up the brand new Galaxie in Port Arthur, Tx. When we left dealer, he commented the engine wasn't powerful enough, turned car around, returned to dealer to find out if it had '390 cu in' he had ordered......they made mistake & had ordered the '292 cu in. He went ahead and accepted smaller engine (sure they adjusted price though). The contrast of chrome instrument panel with black padded dash was dramatic. So the '62 Country Sedan brought back lots of memories. Thnx
