This is an awesome opportunity to go and see how creative different homesteaders are. I love the "use what you have," rationale. Waste not, want not. Great to meet all these new people. Thanks. Sow The Land: "If you build it, they will come." ~~~Field of Dreams :)

Love how you do such a great job showcasing each and every farm...allowing them to give a shout out about how to contact them directly, a view of each farms layout, and what makes them unique etc!! Keep up the great work my man!! Super neat seeing you guys together as a family in most of your videos! Great education for your daughter, Penelope to absorb like a sponge at her age!! You guys are making it "fun" to help raise your own meat birds, fruits, & veggies!! Hopefully next faal/winter/spring you guys will raise your 1st pigs thanks to Justin getting you ready!! Can't wait to see what all you guys do with your homestead over the next could yrs now that you guys are diving deep into your current community!! Surrounding yourselves with "likeminded" folks is really helping you guys learn as you go!! Great Job Jason and Lorraine!!!

That was nice seeing the old place. I grew up on a small 40 acre farm on the Swannanoa River where we grew all of the food for the whole family. I've pulled more than my fair share of weeds and hoed all the corn I plan to. I'm plenty happy here is Ga where I live now with a couple of raised beds and bird feeders to watch the birdies fly north and south. :)

TalkingThreadsMedia WA state here as well. Isn’t it interesting how similar this part of NC looks so much like Western WA and OR? It especially reminds me of the Willamette Valley and Tillamook area in OR, and places like Carnation, and Sequim in WA just minus Puget Sound. Thank goodness we don’t have the humidity though lol.

    • @TalkingThreadsMedia
      @TalkingThreadsMedia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, that part of NC really does look a lot like Western Washington and Oregon's Willamette Valley! Maybe that's why it felt so "comfortable" while watching Jason's video! 😊

It is so nice to go back and see the past and present. I lived Jason meeting your Mom, moving chicken's with you and feeding them. You both laught a lot. Me too. Your wife is an EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT
Teacher. She taught me how to cut a chicken,
after all these years. I am 68. I am a VEGAN for many years. But, when I touched meat at 18, just married and living in CALIFORNIA NAVY. I moved from Michigan. No mom to help me l.o.l. I wore rubber gloves. I had a lot to learn. Your daughter has grown a lot in two year's. She was and is the cutest little girl. Not any more. She's growing up into a beautiful young Lady. I live seeing her. I was an only child. I ALWAYS wanted BROTHER and SISTER. You're a wonderful family. One of the BEST. THANK YOU. GOD BLESS YOU 🀄🀄🀄🀄🀄🇺🇸🌻🌻🌻. You RESPECT each other and everyone else and your animals. YOU'RE a true friend. TRUST Worthy, kind, fun.. ETC

    Love this! Thank you! ...
We are planning to move to the Southeast in 2 to 3 years. My oldest son and his family plan to move within the next year. ( from Arizona!! )
The declining water tables have been a growing concern for the past 10 years here.
We are in a 20 year drought ... but at this point t's not considered a drought, anymore.
Drought's are a temporary thing . The drought that caused the dust bowl lasted 10 years.
Let's face it, this is the "new normal"! I want to have a garden without having a $200. water bill every month all summer. And that doesn't even give us much to show for it. That just keeps everything alive.
We are doing a lot of research first. before we sell...
    * Anyone want to let us know what areas to avoid that would be awesome. . .
( Low crime, clean ground water, good growing soil, not in flood zone and few restrictions. )
    We aren't picky ... Lol
NW North Carolina, NW South Carolina, SW Virginia, East Tennessee, N. Georgia.
At lest an acre. With a creek would be awesome. Under $40,000. a fixer upper. We are retired so jobs and schools aren't a concern.
