    Unfortunately the video I had playing, link below, violated a copyright thingy and I had to remove part of it, which was Kumbayu (lovely song). I don't own any of the music, but did have it playing in the background on youtube. It is "★ 8 HOURS ★ Lullabies for Babies to Sleep - Music for Babies - Baby Songs - Baby Lullaby Bedtime"

      How did your doll turn out? I am about to root my first reborn baby. I found this also helpful, because it is good quality, and up close.

      +PJ Sev She turned out very well. I have since sold her, but got to see her last weekend, which was lovely. Glad you found the video helpful. I had used a proper video camera which does really good close up vids. I haven't come across too many hair vids that have been easy to see what is being done. Good luck with your hair rooting. My biggest advice is to have patience. I absolutely love hair rooting, much more than painting

      susankayej88 I'm sure there will be some that watch a video like this and still expect not to pay much for them. you know, there hasn't been any comments mentioning how cute Ophelia is. Oh they are going to be such a cute addition to our nurseries :) xo

    I just found your video and LOVE it. I am fairly new to reborning and love every second of it.... except the rooting. Having now watched your tut so to speak I understand the rooting process a little more. I would like to ask whats your preference for hair and where you purchase from. Ummmm.... would you ever consider doing a vid of how you make the swirl as well? The painting the babies came naturally to me and that in itself is amazing cause I'm pretty well a talentless person.lol....seriously none! I so agree with other posters.... I have had people watch me work on a baby and still ask why reborners charge so much. One lady's husband built houses so I explained it this way. Tell your husband I"ll buy the supplies needed and then he can build me new house for free.... lol to my surprise I do not have a new house lol. Thank you for sharing your talent....

      tmmpearce Sorry for the late reply to your comment. My preference for hair is Susan Nagel. I think she is from the US. I purchase her hair from a dealer in Australia. I haven't made any video's in such a long time, but may do a hair swirl one in the future. If painting babies comes naturally to you, then you are not talentless. I have seen lots of babies out there who are not painted well. I haven't had anyone say I charge too much yet, but some people have absolutely no clue as to the hours that are spent bringing reborns to life. hugs xoxo

    I LOVED THIS!!! When I had started rooting I had to do 1 single hair at a time cuz it was annoying trying to do it the "fast way" and I need one of those magnifying glasses!! You did an awesome at rooting. I now have more confidence to try again :) xxxxxxxxxx

    • @ACountryRoseLives
      @ACountryRoseLives  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      starsinaforest Thank you Mindy. I do hope my video gives you some confidence to try again. I bought my magnifyer on ebay as the shops were much more expensive. It attaches to my desk, but you can buy smaller ones that sit on the desk/table. I bought the one with the highest magnifier in it, cos my eyes are not good. Well back to the hair for me. Trying to get it finished today, so I can glue it and put her together for Saturday, when we have a reborn doll show and Susan in coming down for it. hugs xoxoxo

    Do regular needles work?

  • @teacherpets
    @teacherpets 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow! I don't think I would have the patience for that. It must take a long time to root a whole head. People who want you to sell a reborn for $50 should watch this and see the work involved.

    • @ACountryRoseLives
      @ACountryRoseLives  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** You know, I think some people would still want a reborn for $50 despite seeing video's on how long it takes :) xo

  • @suyung58
    @suyung58 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    wow never seen such a clear close up like this before, so you just wrap the needle with lots of rubber bands so prevent discomfort. i have a few needle holders but once the needle is in there's no way of seeing the correct angle of the needle as the hook part is covered up. Im going to try again using a fork needle. Thanks so much for sharing this.

    • @ACountryRoseLives
      @ACountryRoseLives  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can usually tell by the end of the needle, where the flat side is (my needle only has one barb) so as long as the flat side is facing up, I grab a hair. I also use another holder (purple and white, but can't recall brand) however you I have to check for my flat side facing up again. I also root silicones now, but those needles are covered in a film of wax/rubber and won't fit in any holder, so I wrap them in the rubber bands. I seem to have more control over holding them, than if they didn't have the bands around them, Rose

    This was a great tutorial Rose! Thank you! Does one needle usually do a whole head? (if it doesn't break of course) I'm wondering how fast the needles dull? Or are you able to use the same needle on more than one head? Just curious. REALLY liked this close up view. Very helpful! Hugs & blessings

    • @ACountryRoseLives
      @ACountryRoseLives  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kimber Hall I'm glad you liked it Kimber. It was tricky setting up my video camera, but worth it with the close up shot. other video's I have seen were not really close up so you couldn't really see what they were doing. I have used that same needle for the last 2 heads and made it to the end of this head, but won't be long before I break it and that is just cos I bent it. The trick is to have the needle go in and come out straight, otherwise it bends and weakens over time. I haven't really noticed if they go blunt or not, but it helps if the vinyl is not really cold. Hugs xoxo

      When I first started, I did so from back of ear and across the back, but now I start from in front of the ear, then work my way across the face. I have seen others start at the swirl, which I would never start at :)

    I am hearing there are different types of Mohair. What do you find to be your favorite name brand and why?

    • @ACountryRoseLives
      @ACountryRoseLives  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes there are different brands of mohair, plus some with no brand name to them. The ones with no brand name I found to be really cheap and course. My fav brand is by Susan Nagel. I find her colours lovely and consistent with batches. I find with this brand I don't have much wastage and it is very easy for me to root. Hope this helps a bit :)

    How long does micro rooting usually take?

    • @ACountryRoseLives
      @ACountryRoseLives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +KKB Awesome The I do is very time consuming. A preemie head can take around 20 hours, newborn approx 40 hours. Am about to start a 3mth head shortly and I expect that will take 60 hours... so as you can see it takes me a very long time, but time well spent as the result is so worth it
