- In this video, I get the rest of the valve train installed (pushrods, rocker bridges and rocker shaft) and set the lash on all of the valves. After that, I install both upper and lower valve covers, CP3 pump, intake runners and thermostat housing!

Am I going to build a Duramax? No. Am I going to watch the whole thing? Yes. It’s my favorite format
😂 thanks Nick!
Thank you so much for making this video. I put my engine together in a back yard with a buddy and we made some mistakes. I have to redo valve lash and this is exactly what I needed. Also, I used to have a YT channel. I know this took forever to film, thanks for all the hard work.
Thanks John! I’m glad that the video helped you out, that’s exactly why I made it! You’re absolutely correct, it does take a lot of time to put these videos together but it’s totally worth it they are helpful!
2 to one looks grate good choice
Thanks! I’m super happy with how it turned out.
You can set your lash in either position on TDC but your order of adjustment will change using that chart from merchant auto, for those of you spinning the balancer in an awkward position.
Thanks! Yeah I suppose not everyone is performing this on an engine stand with tons of access 😂
@@richphippsgarage Right?! So you’re either starting the process on the intake valve on cylinder 1 or cylinder 4. Something useful for the guys bashing their knuckles lol
Two tone looks great.
I love it!!
Thanks for watching!
Question for ya, what did you use to clean your valve covers/intake runners?
I used an aluminum safe degreaser in a heated ultrasonic sink. I’m pretty sure it was the orange Zep stuff.
@@richphippsgarage gotcha I appreciate that! Were they pretty grimed up and gross when they went in? I got some from a motor that had a little under 200k on it and their pretty nasty, not sure if they’ll clean up as good as yours
Yeah they were in pretty bad shape. The combination of the EGR system doing EGR system things and the turbo leaking oil into the compressor side made the entire intake a slimy caked up mess. I also painted them with Duplicolor high temp silver paint after cleaning them up.
@@richphippsgarage gotcha, I thought they were down to raw aluminum and just looked that clean out of the hydrosonic tank I was shocked. Do they get anywhere near that clean straight out?
@@SrzMMC they get really close. I had to do just a little spot cleaning with some brake clean but not too much.
