CARD NOT DETECTED free and quick fix on Renault Scenic range.

- Quick fix for the Card Not Detected message on Renault Scenic. The Grand Scenic in my case but I assume its the whole range that takes card keys.
I saw a few videos about this and was sceptical but it does work. A new key is ideal but this does work in the mean time.

Glad it helped! Keep your eye on it as it can still stop working. A new key is the best long term solution but I still keep a knife in the car.

This is a quick fix that works by squeezing the internal antenna coil onto the circuit board.
Didnt work but mines 2010
I have a replacement card that is thinner than the original. I put a lollypop stick behind to make it tighter. It is then detected. LOL. Could be that you need original size thicker card.
My card was the original one that came with the car. The additional pressure is what made it work. Good too see this coming in handy for your thin card too.

Cant you just squeeze the card between your fingers while it is near the slot??? as mine works even if it is in my pocket usually.
If it works for you then yes you can. If not then the knife trick worked for me.

I moved to Europe 4 years ago and I have this car and the same problem...I tried this trick and I CANT BELIEVE IT WORKS!! before my wife and I get in the car we say to each other " you got the car key? You got the knife?" Thank you for this trick!

Great way to get out of trouble if the key stops working and you are on then road. Once you know the problem it is quite easy to open the key and solder the coil joints that come off. In Rome I had it done on one key for 35€. I did it myself on the spare key and took 10 minutes, with the help of a cutter and soldering iron.

This worked many times, before eventually it stopped and I had to replace the card! Handy to know though as the cards are delicate if dropped (like i do)

It does. It worked for me when I insert it key down, knife from the steering wheel side. As the video says, it does take a bit of moving around, but eventually works.

You can also fix this issue by not sticking the keycard in the slot, my 2005 Scenic has keyless entry, i would Imagine later models do too.
I can't comment on this other than my car didn't have keyless entry. If it did, then the issue of the card not being read in the slot would't have been an issue.

No set time I’m afraid. Mine worked for a few weeks but still start to become more and more sketchy. Not worth being stuck for the cost of a new key.

Hi how do you get a new key card my dads car came up card not detected and he’s used the knife and it’s worked but want to get a new one in case the knife stops working.
I just googled car lock smiths in my area and a guy came a re programmed a card from his van.
You saved my life! I move house in 3 days and couldn't have managed. Will sort keycard out once moved, but this will do the trick until next week!

Malheureusement non désolé. Essentiellement, si votre carte cesse de fonctionner dans le contacteur, munissez-vous d’un couteau et glissez-la dans la pente le long de la carte, comme indiqué dans la vidéo. C'est une solution temporaire.
I found just firmly squeezing the key card with my fingers around the area you indicated for the coil worked better than the knife - also less embarrassing when you have a passenger! The key doesn't actually need to be in the slot to get it started.
Thats for the feedback. If your model does not need the card in the slot then I can see how squeezing the card works and it no doubt will for some. In my model though, with the card "needing to be in the slot", the knife is replicating putting pressure on the sensor with you fingers so is needed. My method in the video will vary from model to model I imagine.

Yes it is an issue with the card. This is a temporary fix but do look at getting a new card.

Hah! Thanks! I didn't have a knife but with this video I learned about the coil, so I rubbed the keys between my hands to warm it up and it worked !
